Rumour has it that most of the songs are about Matty Healy from 1975. They dated on and off secretly since 2014. Then Joe happens. But she still had a candle burning for Matty so after the joe break up they got together. He made promises and ghosted her allegedly. And the fans and media freaked out about them dating and didn’t want that piece of poo to be in her life. So at least that’s how I interpreted the album and all the rumours lol

A lot of this album is not about Joe, tho i think most songs have more than one muse, imo. The one that is definitely about him is So Long London. You can see how their relationship ended.
Fresh out the slammer she leabes and run immediately to Matty. In Guilty as sin shes clearly woth someone, peobably Joe and imagining being with someone else. The title track is about Matty, I can Fix Him and the smallest man who ever lived. Like this man loved bombed her, selling her the idea of everything she wanted the marriage, the babies, the epic love story only too then ghost her and leave after very little time. That left ger realing worse than the slow death of her long term relationship.
Down Bad is an Alien Metaphor! Thats why you get the "beam me up" "to do experiments on" waking up in a field alone. "Ecounters closer and closer." "Hostile take overs".
Like this person showed her a whole different world and that there was more out there like an alien abduction and now shes waiting for for then to come back because everything is mundane now in comparison.
Who's Afraid, is also not about a relationship. Its about Taylor and the media, and the public and the way shes treated and the things they say about her.

Yes I finally fathomed that “waking up in blood” is from the experiments in Down Bad. I was alarmed at first thinking she was self harming, which she could be, but I doubt it.

4:44 Song one she has stated that it’s metaphorical for the most part, however, the song may “possibly” be about the actress Clara Bow from the silent film era. I believe it may be peppered with the Clara concept, however, the majority is a made up story.
The song is set in a mental institution where both she and Posty (Post Malone) being experimented on for two weeks. In the time together, she and Post,y fall in love with each other. At the end of the two weeks, they both get out of the mental institution, and go their separate way.
Forward many years, and they are each married to somebody else. Unbeknownst to Posty and his wife, they move into the neighborhood where Taylor and her cheating husband live. They happen to run into each other at the mailboxes, and both discovered that they had never stopped loving the other after they got out of the mental institution.
So that’s why she talks about she wants to kill his wife because she wants to be his wife and it doesn’t work out that way.
They both stay with their partners and don’t get involved romantically again. The only place they spend time together from that point forward is at the mailboxes just talking in those few moments each day.
10:29 Joe on this one and So Long London. Taylor wanted to marry Joe and even after 6+ years, he couldn’t/wouldn’t commit to marrying her. In a song from her album “Midnights” named “You’re Losing Me”
One line is “I wouldn’t marry me either, a pathological people pleaser, who only wanted you to see her” is about his non-commitment, You’re Losing Me was her breakup song, although we didn’t know at the time.

Florida is so Good
Most of the songs seem to be about Maty Healy, but there's a lot of speculation about it because lately there are a lot of swifties who are determined to spread hate at all costs, I've seen videos where they try to make Joe look like a horrible person for things like being introvert, comparing him to Travis (Taylor's current boyfriend who is more extroverted) and it seems so ridiculous to me, the amount of harassment that the man has received for a year is horrible and all because of rumors that fans make up (like him being a cheater when in fact there's no proof, or that he had Taylor "hidden" when they both agreed to keep their relationship private, Taylor said it in her documentary, and everyone hypocritically used to say that that was the most romantic thing) I find it very sad that Joe received this hate from swifties when he was the one who was there to support Taylor when the whole world hated her, in the end the two of them turned out to be people with different goals who hurt each other by staying together knowing that and that's it, people should stop looking for drama & victimizing Taylor when in fact she's the one who mentions wanting to be with someone else while she was in a relationship (Guilty as sin) but well 🤸🏻♀️
Clara bow is about how the music industry deals with female artist by comparing them to the last "it girl" and tells them you will be bigger than her. Like then they told her she is like Stevie nicks and then at the end they are telling a new girl she reminds them of Taylor swift. Also smallest man who ever lived is about matty... as several of the songs are. The alchemy is one about Travis.

I agree with everything you said! I would also add that for me, track 8 (Florida) is about forgetting Joe by being with Matty. 'Florida' IS Matty. "Your home's really only a town you're just a guest in/ Your home's really only the town you'll get arrested" Joe is 'home' but she was just a guest in that relationship. She felt arrested/ imprisoned in that relationship (fresh out the slammer) So she had to escape to 'Florida' (Matty) "I need to forget, so take me to Florida" "What a crash, what a rush, fuck me up, Florida"
Also Florida being mentioned in "Fortnight' which is about Matty.
