    There are multiple ways to catch crabs, that is for sure. 😂 Catching a turtle in a trap is pretty awesome. Great hacks, Doc.

      Thanks Dug! That turtle was definitely an unexpected bycatch!

    Hi Randy, Alex and Ryan! I used to crab all the time! We had a collapsible square trap when I was little and it was SO much fun to catch crabs. Great tips! Kindly, Theresa and Cam

    Love the crabbing brother!! The first thing I did with my crab baskets was upgrade the lines..🤣🤣.. they were such nice metal baskets with such crappy lines. I think I put 550 parachute cord on mine from Walmart. I can’t wait to get mine back out and catch some, I’ve been wanting to eat some fresh blues for months now!! I cheat though, bought a set of the metal crab tongs to handle them with..🤣🤣.. Got tired of being pinched..😁.. Looked like an awesome day out with family and friends!! Great informative video brother!!👊🏼👊🏼🦀🦀

    • @fatherandsonsfishing
      @fatherandsonsfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Lance! We definitely raid the kitchen and throw some tongs in the bucket when we remember. The handles aren't very long so it can still be a little dicey!😳 Need to splurge and get the longer, more heavy duty ones I've seen others use while crabbing. And I agree, how crazy it is where you can get a nice pot or basket but have crappy line that comes with them? Kind of like buying a nice truck with lots of features inside the cab, only to look down and realize the tires are bald!

      Thank you Titus! This was the same place we crabbed last year when we made the catch and cook challenge to you and London. We went easy on you this time since you were such a good sport about it! I'm still in catch-up mode on your videos and I'm watching some out of order, but I do recall seeing you put some nice crappies in your cooler recently...🤔

    Looks like a really fun day. But I gotta be honest - trapping crabs is kinda like snagging fish in my book. Been hand lining and netting since I was 6 and for me that’s the way to go. Then again, nobody asking how they were caught when they’re coming out of the pot in their Old Bay suits. Lol.

    • @fatherandsonsfishing
      @fatherandsonsfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, John. My favorite way to catch them is hand lining. If I'm by myself then it's good practice with the net, and if I have a partner then it's a fun team effort. What I was going for in this video is the simplest and most efficient way to catch/snag them which is what these traps have proven to be for us. We didn't do it in this video, but most of the time I use a combination of the traps and hand lines so there's a little bit of everything.

      When I'm solo I love to catch em with a hand line, too. That requires a little more coordination so it's easier to use the traps when I'm out with the kids. Haven't heard of that book before but I just looked it up and definitely sounds like something I need to put on the list. Thanks for the recommendation!
