  • Urban Knife Guy shares a variety of water canteens for hiking, camping, and bushcraft.
To give a bit of context, UKG considers the water canteen the primary water bottle that you would carry. You might have other containers if you need to carry more water. But you need at least one main container.
UKG does not consider this sort of water bottle a proper canteen for a hike, camp, or if you go outdoors to practice bushcraft. The canteen should be on you at all times and the most logical way to carry it is on your belt.

I am using US Army canteens (1qt and 2qt) and hydration bladder. If I am on the bicycle roadtrip, I have sport canteen and US Army 2qt.

Hi I use the Pathfinder Canteen Cooking Kit. After 5 years of use, not a bit of rust. I bought a plastic bottle like yours, the cap broke. The taste of plastic and the smell of plastic was disgusting. The Chinese Stainless steel canteen bottle, there was rust after a year. Never again Chinese companies. I don't remove my canteen from the pouch, I drink it straight from the pouch. I carry my Canteen kit on a shoulder strap. BTW. the inward curve of the canteen goes on the hip.. I just bought a Ti canteen bottle but it's not for me. The Pathfinder Canteen kit is my "never-leave-home-without-it" together with my Jääkäripuukko 110 knife. Just sharing. Thanks.

Maybe the canteens would fit in their cases better if you put them in the right direction

How often are you in the jungle?

    • @urbanknifeguy

At least once a week, if there are no thunderstorms. Generally days out only with overnights once in a while, but not regularly due to my schedule and other commitments.

That's how I did it as a scout, in the army and now. Water is a valuable resource (especially in this climate) and you may lose your pack but less likely your belt. Wearing weight on your hips is also much better than on your back. Thanks for watching!
