      It's almost like the Dunmer are their own thing. They're Elder Scrolls but somehow also Elder Scrolls adjacent. By and large, I'm not overly enthralled by the wider Elder Scrolls lore, but I could read about Morrowind - especially Tribunal-era Morrowind - all day.

      Because When they wrote Morrowind they went all out on the weirdness and how to make it seem as a passable setting. The rest of the games lack the weirdness barring a few places like Shivering isles in Oblivion.

      Different writers. Not commercial enough. Keep it simple and you will sell. The art form Bethesda raised their games to didn't last, money is needed, don't forget Daggerfall and Morrowind almost ruined them and allowed Robert Altman in to oust Chris so as to regear them to massive success that now needed modders to make it a Morrowind.

      Combining this idea with what Scott said at the end of the video, you could have a character who isn't an old, mad dunmer, but a younger one who learns of the legends of the heroic Buoyant Armigers, sees the sad and morose state their people are in, and takes up the mantle.

The only issue I have is remembering the character and place names, so my retelling goes something like “so there was a bad dragon that was thrown forward from a dragon break that cause by the dwellmer’s machine thing and a heart thing but then a powerful mage horacrux life source thingy. Hoping Morrowind gets revisited in ESO. It's the best expansion + DLC (Clockwork City) combination in the game. It was immensely enjoyable and as such, simply not enough. You can get the Glass (Buoyant Armiger) Crafting Style from it, though.
      There's still so much of Tamriel that hasn't been explored, it's hard to see it happening, but this is their best content with, quite possibly, the most ardent fans. And it would be hard to revisit in another later-era game with Dunmer culture in spiraling decline.
      Hopefully they won't sit on it.

    Boyant also refers to an object's ability to float in a substance, in reference to Vivec's ability to levitate in the air. Boyancy also applies to the fact that they're all wearing light armor. They don't stomp into the ground like most heavily armored knights. This may indicate that they are known to be stealthy or quick. Or both, like assassins, which we all know Morrowind is famous for.

    • @jamesswanson4085
      @jamesswanson4085 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not even close haha. The term Bouyant means to float, sure, but that's missing the point entirely. What it really refers to is that they are the opposites of the Ordinators. Whilst the Ordinators are grave, and of dire mood, the Armigers (or "Happy Knights") are just that, happy, flamboyant, cheerful. Just as Vivec is always in duality, so are his ordos.
      It most certainly doesn't have anything to do with their armor type nor Vivec's ability to float.

      @IrishIronArmalite 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And hey! You guys should ABSOLUTELY do an Armiger build.
      I have an Armiger build of my own, “Sargon Asher-Dan”. An ashlander who became devoted to Vivec and became a great Armiger. To then have his faith nearly shattered by the Nerevarine Prophecy. Now knowing the awful truth of his God”, he left the temple and the Armigers. Returning to his ashland tribe, the Zainab, he re-devoted himself to the Good Daedra and became a holy warrior of his own tribe and of his Reclamtions. He used his years of service in the Armigers for the benefit of his tribe. Under the hard and battle-ready gaze of Boethiah, the clear and all-seeing eyes of Azura, and the hidden, piercing eyes of Mephala, he defended his tribe alongside his fellow warriors.
      I have SO much more to the build and I’ve used the format that you guys have made. I have the rest of his backstory, perks, skills, standing stone, and even some mods. If you guys wanna see it I’d love to show you!!! Not to make as a video, I just wanna see if you guys think it’s cool lol

    I wrote a fanfiction of a former Bouyant Armiger - among the highest in his order - several hundred years after the fall of ALMSIVI during the events of the impending Second Great War. Once bouyant and lighthearted, always a song or clever quip upon his tongue, now bitter and hateful, roaming Tamriel as a mercenary.
    In it, he met Vivec and Nerevar(ine), and attempted to kill them in rage.
    Wasn't my best literary work, but the concept was fun.

    late to this but given the introduction of anniversary edition and "the ghosts of the tribunal", its a shame to imagine these ancient orders totally dying out and instead I find it cooler to think these armigers carried on their tradition in secret and passed it on generationally, spawning adventure loving dark elves across Morrowind and Tamriel, Vesparth the Toe being a good example of this.

    Vivec is definitely dead. Not only does the player have the option to kill him as revenge, but Almalexia even has unique dialogue for if you chose to do so before meeting her. Additionally, Vivec himself admits to the player that his power is running out, and that without the Heart of Lorkan, he will not be able to replenish his divinity. Meaning even if you don't kill him, completing the main quest destroys the source of his power, and his immortality. Evidence of Vivec's passing is also seen when the meteor above the city of Vivec, which was suspended above the city as a show of Vivec's power, suddenly crashes into the city after the events of Morrowind.

    I think the Bouyant Armigers still have a place, especially now that times are bad. The ability to laugh in the face of adversity and maintain their dignity through martial prowess and intellect is something the Dunmer will need if they are to rebuild a fighting force even if they don't have Vivec anymore.

    My guess is that once the Almsivi fell that the Armigers got incorporated mostly into house Redoran. Partly because most of them were Redoran-born and Redoran now holds most political power and possibly has their fingers in the new religion given that their greatest rival, the Hlaalu, are now gone and that house Indoril mostly rode the coattails of Almsivi to survive

    so, out of curiosity, if vivec is chim and the daedra/aedra aren't (presumably at least based on their "limited" actions) does that then make Vivec more powerful than them and even Lorkhan, auri-el, and even Anu? Also iI would be a cool spinoff where Vivec becomes Amaranth and make nirn in his own image in his own universe. I mean what else is he doing since he didn't zero sum?

    1. Morrowind is so much more than just a game to me. I played it after Oblivion and Skyrim and it just clicked with me in a way no other game has done before or after. I just love it so much.
    2. Michael Kirkbride is a treasure and I hope Bethesda hires him for TES:VI. His work on Dunmer lore, TES metaphysics, Redguard lore, Pelinal the gay time-traveling cyborg, and Alduin lore is the perfect blend of madness and creativity. You can tell he majored in comparative religion because his writing feels like genuine religious stuff. Just look at Vivec's sermons. Also check out c0da if you want a true mindfuck.
    3. Dunmerettes are hot little minxes and I want Ranys Athrys to punish me for the filthy n'wah I am.

      Morrowind: You WILL miss constantly till you get your stats up; hits are based on a d20 dice roll mechanic so running is a viable tactic if you're having a hard time. Beware of Cliffracers, watch your stamina because once it's out you cant fight or move till it recharges some if I recall correctly, listen to dialogue and learn location names because theres no quest markers

    I think they lived outside dunmer society probably, or at least like an auxilliary of the Fighter's Guild in Morrowind.
    They do not need vivec to survive, even if their influence will be greatly reduced, they only need an example and to follow their virtue, and in Tamriel, there is always place for chivalrous warriors, so why can't they survive really ?
    This will certainly not be a grand organisations in the 4E though.

Thanks to old stories, there will definitely be a place for fearless buoyant warriors that would be of great wit and would be willing to risk their lives just coz it's the right thing to do. Yeah, they will not be as numerous but still enough to be somewhere around.

    As much as I love the Dunmer. I love the Altmer more. I love being taller cause I'm tall. I love Magic in games. Altmer are perfect Magisters. The Dunmer make good Mages too but I feel Altmer would be stronger in a Magical fight than a Dunmer. Altmer go for Lighting while Dunmer go for Fire.
    Although I always do get indecisive cause I love the Druchii in Warhammer and the Style which are Dark themed High Elves. Wish I could have a less Gold Altmer.
