Thank you so much for speaking about your experiences with the Mahasi Sayadaw method. I also tried practicing that technique for 2 years with the guidance of an experienced teacher and also had experiences with repressed and unresolved emotional trauma and memories. The method seems to make those things more prominent in the mind and harder to let go of. And there is no element of calming or settling so these very traumatic and difficult things are almost unbearable. And just as you mention, it is difficult to use the technique outside of formal meditation time. It was wonderful to listen to this talk and hear your insight that comes from direct experience of trying various techniques for yourself. I am currently on that journey of discovery with my own meditation practice. What I keep as my consistent base is sila and following the 8 fold path. Thank you for your teachings. Sadhu sadhu sadhu
Please understand the forms, feelings, thought formations and even conciousness is like a shadow, subjected to sense delay, never real time, like the light of a dead star. They are dead, but the memories keep them real. Just impermanent, not self and dead. Just watch them as dead, not mine, not real, just the play of conciousness, illusory.
