      Going for big points will cause the opponent to be willing to fight more. I think it would be better to show how to stop certain fights from occurring.

      Go is a game of fighting over territory. Whether it is a strategic global fight for a big points, or a tactical massacre. Thus it is a nice way that dwyrin chose, and I comprehend its use. But, what I am speaking about is - when you play on the verge of overplay (myself would not know where is the verge) - you learn what would be too much and what is still ok. You see the way opponent gets bad shapes or something. It's like playing on 9 stones handicap, but for white. It's what I would like to see - Dwyrin playing 9 stones with white vs some 5kuy. It would be a fighting)

      I'm already too violent in my play, so I need every lesson I can get in how not to be. The idea of taking that invasive shoulder hit as a compliment is the type of lesson that helps insanely.

      I want not basic fighting) I wanna see the edge, the mistakes that would point out the preparation phase, the not basic fighting by the eyes of kuy player.

    Another excellent video in the series! The second game clearly illustrated that fighting just for the sake of fighting, or attacking because you want your opponent to have nothing, is not wise. It's so easy to do this as a ddk, because we are taught 'this is how you kill' before we learn anything else. Thanks to your Basics series, I am slowly but surely growing away from looking to kill kill kill and more toward looking for big points.

    everyone seems extremely aggressive online, but your basics videos really give me a lot of confidence to keep trying to build and be peaceful, knowing and seeing how it's possible to win even against very jealous opponents. thanks!

    Hi Dwyrin) I want to see a kill everything game vs a dan player. Even if it leads to a loose, but it would be interesting compensation to your style of "no killing")

    Dwyrin, if you read this, i have a question, to 29:15 Was the move in B2 really needed? What about doing a larger Move here like O17 or something else in the upper side and leaving the Corner as is? I'd also appreciate answers from other viewers also =)

    great video! but even as a 10 kyu, nobody would mind taking the H3 - K4 move in the first game to capture a few stones. it looks like a 20 kyu life and death problem. espacilly, because you didnt intend to kill it but the bad shape just turned out the way it did.
    Thanks for your hard work and videos!
    love from Germany

    Maybe do a basics series and a tsumego/reading series?

    • @firebrain2991
      @firebrain2991 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And maybe an "attack for profit" approach in a slightly-less-than-basic series. ik it's a lot, but it might be good to go into games focussing on the individual aspects separately.

    I wonder if stones dying on their own while you're just living and not playing aggressive really counts as killing.

    • @ChristopherGarcia-lj8zc
      @ChristopherGarcia-lj8zc 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree. If someone beats them self to death while you keep yourself healthy, so be it. Avoiding playing the smart "basic" play just to keep a maniac from killing his or herself actually seems counterproductive to the lesson. But still, I think the Basic Series rocks and it has helped my game immensely.

    Unrelated side note, Dwyrin, have you ever read Metamorphosis by Kafka? Because the main character in that story wakes up one morning as a giant bug.
