  • We have a look at the HPE DL560 Gen10. This is a four way rack server that only takes up 2U in the rack. It has 48 slots for memory and a max capacity of 3TB. The one we look at here is equipped with 4 Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors the Gold 6154 and this is an 18 core 3.0GHz and boostes up to 3.7GHz. It has ½ the Ram,, 1.5TB installed.
The price of $43.000 is without tax, and I bought 30 of them and 4 full Bladecenters and two dl380 G10 to get that price. Bought for just under 2.4 million dollars, So if you just want one, you might have to add some :-/
    It's not cheap!

Even just 1$ a month, comes out to the same as Binge-watching all of my 500+ Videos every month.
My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

Take a quick look on ebay for Servers with the first generation E5 Servers: Sandy Bridge E5. I bought a refurb DELL whih a 6 Core Sandy Bridge E5 v1 last summer. Still had to pay a 500€ excl. vat incl. shipping from Hungary. A device speced with a single 8 Core E5 would have come at least 200€ more expensive...

That's a very efficient use of space! 4 cpu's. Lot's of rear I/O expansion, 4 power supply's, and a front that can be loaded down with hard drives. you don't typically see that here, you ether have lot's of I/O or lots of hard drive space.

Thanks for explaining your upgrade plan. I was wondering why you didn't replace DL380s with DL380s. I don't know about your company but sometimes companies buy from one server vendor so they can twist their arm and get lower prices on hardware and services as well as uptime guarantees for a 3 to 5 year time period. Thanks for the video.

    Hi morten,
    Like usual, NICE video (y)
But i notiched that the pciex cards are kind of 'packed' together.
I would place them in the following order, for cooling purposes.
    Riser 1 - Riser 2
    ----------------
    10g - 10g (upper slots)
    Slot 2 - slot 2
    16g - 16g (lower slots)
And if you wont use the backplane's im interested to buy them. (If possible)

I love HP finally condensed the 580 series into 2U. They took a book out of there c7k series for those PCIe connections to upper PROCs. But I'm curious, you said those HBAs are 16Gb/s? So you are not using SAS, but FC? And I don't recall if you covered it, or can discuss. But what is your storage backend (SAN)? Our organization has looked at quite a few options, but when millisecond response times are a concern, we have troubles finding any sort of storage solution that can provide large scale centralized storage.

And Dell don't know what the problem is. (various models).
