It would be cool if someone explained how this worked, oh! someone just did: th-cam.com/video/PuJ0W058wN0/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/w-d-xo.html
This is one of my favorite childhood memories. I don’t think the programmers who made this could ever have realized what it would mean to people decades later.
Watching this takes me back to my husband's and my first apartment, and our first Christmas with our then 9-month-old daugther. She would sit mesmerized by this demo and watch it over and over. Aaah, memories!
You can show me all the high-end, realistic, motion-captured graphics you want. This just has so much personality to it. I love it! :-) Such wonderful memories of my C-64.
Dieses Demo beeindruckt mich nach fast 40 Jahren noch immer ... man kann sich einfach nur glücklich schätzen, diese Zeit mit ihren neuen Möglichkeiten und die einsetzende Entwicklung miterlebt zu haben.
the best computer in the world!i used it for the first time when i was 3 and now i'm 25 :) now i own three c64 (one is the first version and two are C64 C) and one VIC 20. i wish to go back to that good old days :)
+giacjackI had a spectrum first off and then bought a C64 and had this demo and thought it was wonderful with much better graphics & polyphonic sound but they are distant memories and it was great growing up at this time but nothing compared to now, it's forward for computers & not back. Great memories though.
I found this as a download on a BBS board when I was 12! It took 6 hours to download with the phone modem, then another hour to copy to 5.25 floppy disk! We played it all day on Christmas.
Thank you so much for that video. Thought about it a few days ago. I loved that x-mas-demo when i was 10 years old and i watched every year. Great times, yeah !! :-)
For 600 $ in 1982 we have had one new car in Poland to buy, straight in special shops only for very rich people (monthly earning of registered nurse in 1982 was about 20 $ !!!)
Really nice demo!!!!! Very cool!!! Nothing like a little 8-bit Xmas cheer, eh? {:o) BTW, every time I hear Bach's Invention #13, I can't help but think of the mighty C-64! For the time, it really was an amazing little PC! With over 30 million sold, it touched many people. I love the C-64! I love Atari too, but I'm not "in love" with it, if ya know what I mean? (j/k) Also, I'm eternally grateful for the magical gift of "Emulation"! It enables me to play C-64 (& other retro systems) 4-Ever!
This was the first program I loaded when I got my C64 in the 80's. Got the Xmas Compendium Set with it in again and had it on last Christmas... Awesome :0)
I remember this, think it was a type-in program from a magazine (anyone under 35 won't understand what I'm talking about) - BUT nobody should slag off the C64, check out games like Mega Apocalypse, Tapper, Exploding Fist, Potty Pigeon, Chicken Chase, Space Walk - to name but a few! Brilliant playability that the computers of today cannot touch.
@snake2006 I know, but it's still kind of cool. It would be even cooler if they made a plug-and-play Commodore 64, keyboard and all, with built in games, sort of like the Atari flashbacks. I bought a joystick with about 20 or so common Commodore games, but not many of the good ones.
Wow.. And to think most of the graphics in this demo are actually PETSCII characters mixed with the occasional sprite.
It would be cool if someone explained how this worked, oh! someone just did:

you just had to throw in a rickroll
Where’s the ‘Sleigh Ride’ in this one?
Nearly a decade later and you're making a PETSCII game now.
indeed 8-bit guys, indeed...

I watch this every Christmas!

still watch it :) ?
Christmas time again with commodore 64😊😊
Dieses Demo beeindruckt mich nach fast 40 Jahren noch immer ... man kann sich einfach nur glücklich schätzen, diese Zeit mit ihren neuen Möglichkeiten und die einsetzende Entwicklung miterlebt zu haben.
Songs in the demo are Good Christian Men Rejoice, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Rudolph, Angels We Have Heard On High, and Frosty the Snowman.
It's starting to get to that time of year. I find this so utterly charming. Nostalgia is a funny old thing.
The Commodore 64 - only $595. The perfect way for your parents to say "No" this Christmas.
but it has CP/M Option.

When a friend of mine showed me this demo back in 82, i said, i want a Commodore64. Great memories.
This demo definitely helped steer me towards getting my first C64.
Came looking for this demo and was not disappointed. Awesome! HNY everyone!
Christmas doesn’t start until my fist watch of this every year.
Perfect.
Reminds me of the christmas programs on Loadstar! :D
Merry Christmas ☺️☺️
So many, many memories..... I wish someone would hurry up and invent a time machine.
1982 and at 3 years old I was hooked on to computers from then on and never looked back.
das waren noch Zeiten an Weihnachten
Omg! I remember this stuff! Thanks for posting. Yep we had Commodore 64.
I found this as a download on a BBS board when I was 12! It took 6 hours to download with the phone modem, then another hour to copy to 5.25 floppy disk! We played it all day on Christmas.
I saw this video in 1982 on the tiny screen of a rare C64 Executive .
LMFAO I forgot how funny the kids were dancing with Frosty
Thank you so much for that video. Thought about it a few days ago. I loved that x-mas-demo when i was 10 years old and i watched every year. Great times, yeah !! :-)
I just got an old Loadstar Monthly copy and it had this demo on it. Fuggin' kewl. Had to research it as it was damn impressive.
Amazing. I remember seeing this back in the day... Thanks for sharing it :D
I remember this! Thanks for posting, I haven't seen that in a long time. I spent way too much time with my C64 and my 300 baud modem.
For 600 $ in 1982 we have had one new car in Poland to buy, straight in special shops only for very rich people (monthly earning of registered nurse in 1982 was about 20 $ !!!)

This was the first program I loaded when I got my C64 in the 80's. Got the Xmas Compendium Set with it in again and had it on last Christmas... Awesome :0)
Actually this demo was distributed to Commodore dealers for the Xmas '82 season.
★☆★ Happy *Bitmas* everybody. ★☆★
If anybody's interested, do a search on Commodore USA and you can see the new Commodore and Amiga computers.
30 years from now, the kids of today will look back at the ps3 and wish for the simpler times of yore...
Fun 😃 THX
ProGrammers Can Be So Artistic. Keep It Up

They still do. Search commodore usa and you'll find it.
