    Improved harness add-on installation instructions:
    1) Before starting to install the "harness" add-on to Firefox please put your installation hand through the main opening.
    2) Engage Firefox and put it into "play" mode.
    3) Once Firefox is in "play" mode get Firefox to attach to the installation hand via "play biting".
    4) While Firefox is attached slide the "harness" add-on to the main body of the Firefox.
    5) Finish installation as usual. =3

    Wow, there are a lot of stupid people in this comment section.
    Loki was RESCUED from a fur farm shortly after birth. He would die if he were released into the wild, as he has no hunting experience.

    • @Oozaru85
      @Oozaru85 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      To keep a wild animal as a pet is rescue for you? I doubt that poor thing enjoys it's prison. People always thing they help wild animals when they keep them as pets. Uh, it would have died otherwise. Thing is: those animals don't understand that and for them it's just another prison. They belong into the wild. Anything else is pure stress and torture for them. Neither help nor rescue.

    • @Oozaru85
      @Oozaru85 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      ZorroLoco And putting him into a private household in a city keeping him like a freakin dog was the only option? you're kidding, right? How about give him to someone who actually knows how to keep foxes? Not in the house but outside. Not as a pet but somewhere, where he can still be a fox. With a big enclosure outside, not in a small house. they probably just kept him as a pet, because they got bored of normal pets. Rescueing an animal from a fur farm just to keep it as a pet is cruel... That's not helping the poor animal.
      And rescued him? Or do you mean, they STOLE him? because Fur Farm or not, I don't think it's legal to "rescue" animals from there... If the owners don't agree to it.

    • @ZorroLocoStudios
      @ZorroLocoStudios 7 ปีที่แล้ว +141

      Oozaru85 There are way too many domesticated foxes in the world for each one to be owned specifically by a raiser who was trained to do so. Given that, yes. This is the best option for Loki, a domesticated fox. I see why you're upset, but you are really underestimating what Loki's owner went through just to give Loki a chance.
      AGAIN, Loki would be _dead_ if not for his current owner. And for your information, fur farms are only quasi-legal in the first place. Regardless, do you really agree with what they do? I don't think you do.
      I'll say it again. There is much, much more to the story than you are accounting for. Your heart is somewhat in the right place, but you are not attacking the right people, mostly because you are making these horrendous assumptions. But, if I can't convince you to actually see the situation for what it really is, then I'm sorry, I can't help you. Take care, friend.

    • @ZorroLocoStudios
      @ZorroLocoStudios 7 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      lyco mania It does, but it's usually not enough. It's actually pretty simple psychology, when you get down to it (if you want more information, you can study the effects of the "nature vs. nurture" relationship).
      Not to mention, these exact same scenarios have happened before. There are tons of videos published by verified nature channels that show the details of these types of situations. "Brave Wilderness" and "camelsandfriends" are two prime examples on TH-cam, as well as most zoo channels, like "nywolforg" on TH-cam and "Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center" on Facebook. I hope you check them out! They're very authentic and interesting pages.

      Also, I'm not looking forward for putting on the harness on my future fox(ies), but maybe you could train a foxie in a way. Like with a treat or something when the harness is on. Not sure about that, it'll be 'fun' to try in the future that is for sure. *Sigh* Can't wait to have a foxie, hopefully one that likes to cuddle for one thing.

      Maybe leaving the harness of them for prolonged periods of time could work? That is how I got both my dogs and cats to not mind being in a harness

    • @DorkyHalloran
      @DorkyHalloran 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is possible since it would give them a lot of time to get use to it. But even then, they still might not like it being put on and stress out, not as bad as Loki, but still not good.

    I expect foxes don't like a harness for one of the same reasons cats hate water; it pushes their fur against their skin, flattening it, and therefore making them feel trapped and vulnerable. I know that's the point of putting a harness on though.

    There are so many kinds of harnesses avalable. I hope you will find one that suits your fox. From here it looks like his harness is a bit to small for him but I guess that is wrong. I have some Julius K9 power harnesses for my dog. Sometimes I prefer to use some less heavy stuff because it looks more comfortable. For me it is easy. She bears evrything I get her but on that point she is less sensitive then a fox. I hope you will find a way to make it more pleasent for Loki. It must be really great owning a fox. I can imagine it is totally different then a dog.

    To anyone that wants to complain about how Loki wasn't happy during the part where the harness is being put on... look at his body language and behavior.
    He was wagging his tail (rare for some foxes... like Loki) and he was play biting. If he was really not happy about this he wouldn't have been so kind. Also: foxes are master escape artists. Loki would have found a way out... or at least to move a bit.

    Hi, love the videos! I had an arctic fox and she absolutely hated the style of harness you have, the one that goes over the head. I finally found one that went on over her feet (kind of like putting on underwear), went around her neck, and over her shoulders. After her chewing through about six different harness I finally figured out she didn't like things going over her head. Not sure if this is Loki's problem or not. I miss my "Little Lady" and enjoy watching your videos. Does your guy spray the house like mine did? You should let others know if he does because most people can't stand the mess and all the damage a fox can do.

    You are way to hectic and nervous around the fox. He feeds off that energy. Be calm and confident when you work with him and especially when you talk around him. You want to speak softly, calmly, and slowly. Draw the words out to sound less excited. If you listen to yourself talk to the fox you will notice you sound exactly like his chatter when he is upset.

  • @onetuliptree

    I can't watch the whole video; Loki looks stressed (panting). The people who complain might be ones who let their dogs run free to be their natural selves, having no idea what dogs do. But I do. I lived in a suburb where people let their dogs run free while they went to work. Eight dogs formed a pack and killed our neighbor's lab, they found him in a wooded area torn apart. They didn't know who did it and there were no wild animals bigger than a racoon. Then the pack killed a terrier on a leash - the owner could not drive the pack off her dog and had to watch in horror as they tore her dog apart. At the end of the workday, the dogs went home and licked their owners' faces. Until they got the flyer the lady sent to everyone in a several mile radius, describing each dog in the pack and how they killed her dog. There was every kind of dog in the pack -- all with collars, all with homes. Talk to a farmer, you'll find out dogs don't run free in their communities -- not for long they don't.

    • @katferguson6076
      @katferguson6076 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Panting just means he's hot. It's a way that dogs or foxes cool off. Even cats do it my dog does it all the time and he's not stressed because all they do is sit around. And my dogs also do it when they are on a walk.

    • @katferguson6076

      So don't complain about how this dude is a bad owner, cause he's not, he's done nothing wrong. Loki is just hot that's all. Now that we've cleared this up go and watch all of the video sweetheart

    wouldn't you get better results trying to put his harness on if you hadn't turned it into some sort of strange game? you really ought to stop that forward and backward motion and just put it on rather then messing around.
    i know, it's like telling someone else how to raise their kids. but things that are not games shouldn't be made into games, all you're doing is training them to make things more difficult for yourself.

  • @morlanius
    @morlanius 8 ปีที่แล้ว +54

    Dude, I have watched a few of your videos now, and I can clearly see what the problems you are having come down to. 1: You are expecting a certain behaviour from him and keep saying "no" every time. 2: you pester him too much, many times he is telling you clearly to just leave him alone, animals have personal space too. 3: You aren't clear enough in what you are trying to train him to, those ducks for instance, you should have known RIGHT away what he was really after, so before he got to the point of sitting down you distract and lead him off in the opposite direction, a clear indication of what you want him to do. and lastly, I don't think he likes you very much, you need to give him space to do his own things and come to you because he wants not, not because you want to make a video, or you want fusses, or because you want to play. A lot of that chase play is him saying "go away".
    I've had exotic pets, a few of them in fact, and you have to realise that some of these are not domesticated. A dog thinks humans are awesome, fun feeding things and they love us no matter what, because over thousands of years we made them like that. Your fox has none of that, and yes you can make friends with non-domesticated animals, but it MUST be a two way thing, they have to learn that you are okay and learn the advantage of you, if not you have a wild animal that you have subdued not to bite you that is actually miserable and keeps having "no" yelled at it.

    Why you always pull him.And you have a lot longer rope but you keep him very close.Thats not a walk.You just restrict him for everything. Not good.I like your videos thow. Leave him to do what animals do and correct him only when he about to do something critical not to pull him while sits and clearly want to make friends with the ducks. The walk should be mostly on his terms. You need to understand better animal language.
    p.s.About the harness-at first you should give him like a toy to smell it, play and get used to it. Then will be easier to get closer to him with it. Sorry for the criticism but i felt I nee to tell you.

    My Holland Lop HATES it when we put her on her harness (no matter how gentle we are or how many treats we give her), so we're in the same boat here :) Though I can't say she's as good as walking with it than Loki is! She seems to have this idea that if she runs to the end of the leash as fast as she can, then she can break it. It usually ends up with us running with her to ensure she doesn't hurt herself trying to fight it. She seems to think that watching us stumble around next to her is pretty funny :)
