      I would love to see a Human First run. I’m at a point in my run where I took over the US, Russia, and China and I nuked/invaded the Alien Administration and took their last enclave on Earth. After doing so, I’ve played for a few more years and they haven’t taken any more land on Earth even with the Servants being everywhere. I think this is because all of the Alien Admin claims got destroyed after taking out their last bit of territory.

    As other commenters have said if someone is fired right after being turned it normally means one of your own councilors has been turned. Also the fact that you have complained about your rolls several times can be an indication of someone having been turned (could also just be bad luck too ofc).

    Good job on taking out some more enemy councillors. I think you'll start to notice that it'll be a bit easier to hold onto your regions as they no longer have the high skill levels to crackdown and purge in a single turn as consistently as before, the fact that the Alien councillor himself had to come and help is a good sign that the Servants are damaged by your earlier actions
    Now if you could somehow invest more into China and somehow bait them into absorbing the USA nukes you might be able to salvage the situation on Earth

      @@conradryder2286 The Alien councillors have a higher base chance (because its a different mission), plus they get extra bonus on top if you have alien xenoforming stuff hanging out in your country. So basically the Alien councillors are kind of not possible to stop via the usual defend interests, but cleaning out the xeno stuff with the Assault Alien Assets mission helps.
      The non-Alien councillors are just going to be tough because the AI optimizes councillors to reach max stat as soon as possible on its chosen specialization, but assassinating them will "reset" that because they have to hire a new councillor that has no experience. Also, make sure that you keep popular support high, and unrest low because both of those stats matter when trying to break into a country.
      If you have a councillor that's 25 and you do a full send on resources then you can basically have a good roll on whatever you want to do.

    This series really shows what made me fall in love with this game: the drama. The game can be brutally punishing for mistakes, giving you the feeling of the utter hopelessness of fighting a technologically superior foe. And yet space is big and stuff takes time, so slowly you can crawl your way back. It doesn’t matter how many stations fall, how many nations join the aliens, all that matters is you keep pushing back, exploiting every crack in the enemy defenses. And you slowly turn a hopeless battle into a victory.

    One of the big reasons to make colonies in the outer system is the same reason it is so hard to get there. Travel time. If you can get a colony on Europa, you just need to build a specific structure to "reload" and refuel the colony ship and have it make more bases around Saturn at no boost cost. This means any attempt by the Hydra to attack would take months and months to reach you, time to build defenses. Defenses which are now proving to be able to drive away even dreadnoughts.
    Also, I am loving the edge of the cliff, clawing back from the brink gameplay. Looking forward to more!

    • @Eyclonus
      @Eyclonus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Thats actually a good summary of the alien's starting position, they spend a fair bit of the early game establishing an industrial base and the stations to enable easy transit to the inner planets. Thats part of the reason why the aliens don't just dominate you off the bat, they are advanced but they don't get free supply lines and magical logistics like they would in other strategy games.

    • @ishanchegu
      @ishanchegu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i dont understand why you say building a base on europa is good? didnt the story tell that the wormhole is close to neptune? closer to saturn as compared to mercury?

    • @venisontron
      @venisontron 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually if you want easy transport to the outer planets and beyond, it makes sense to be launching most of your missions from Mercury. Reason being, Mercury is on average the closest to everything else in the solar system (aside from the sun itself). If you're taking off from Earth, you're going to be on the other side of the sun half of the time, and so your travel time will be awful. Jailing other Councillor is a great way to slow them down, as it makes them unable to act for 3-4 turns, costing you 1.
    With an infiltrated guy, you could theoretically permanently jail all their Councillor until they fire them, instead of killing them, using only one of your councilor. (jail 4 in sequence, keep the turned guy free, and make his fail high once you have all 4 jailed, meaning you keep sight of them all anyway :D)
    I haven't tried that, but it sounds like a decent tactic vs servants. If they can't aact, they can't give nations to aliens. Also, it's a special mission to give nation to aliens, if you can find that agent, trap him asap.

    This is quite the impressive run... its honestly fun to watch you run through this game and how you struggle. I do agree with some of your statements from... I think the last video that the game is just kind of overwhelming in how it has so much stuff that you don't know what it will do until you are already much later into it. Where you can end up with a 50 hour campaign turning into a slog and not even know it until you are 2/3rds through because the game tells you so little of what does what if you don't go check stuff online. The early ship technology for example almost seems like more of a trap for new players than anything else, with how they are too weak to do anything but cost resources anyway.
    Personally though, while I do enjoy the idea of the game its far too time consuming to get anywhere for me to play... like it takes hours just to get even a minor space-station online. Never mind for anything beyond that... I basically sent a refund request today (Though the playtime is already over 2 hours so may not get a refund at all.) just because I was pretty sure I would never get even a third through a game without going "WTF was I doing again in this game?" because I forgot about the game for a few weeks and then reloaded a file.... So unless they add in some speed-up options and make things less opaque the game isn't for me. Just don't have the time, energy and motivation for this kind of playstile... I will just enjoy others playing I guess.

    potato, you have effectively cut most of the other factions off at the knees so they arent very good youve blasted ahead... so the aliens are only seeing you as a threat because you are the only threat, now youve slowed down alittel the others have caught up but have also ben trampled by the alians

    Intresting how the pae of the game works different. I am at 2036 and on my current Soviet Union opressive Humanity Firt playthough .. no aliens are on ground.. only 2 megafauna hatched in the world. No alien ships attack my bases. BUT. There has been a constant wold war that is draining humanity resources like HELL. For example in your game US army is 4.2 level. In my game it is 6.0! Fighting US troops is insanity and I need to Obliterate them from orbit with a fleet whole built for that purpose ( several ships that can barely move but have huge ass advanced railguns)

    I started with the EU and managed to take the US from the Servants, something that probably saved the day given that they had 9 armies and a high tech level there.
    But now the aliens started to attack my outposts and I did encounter a mothership and several frigates taking out my main base. Can you give me an idea of how the whole base defense works? Because I had 3 level 2 defense modules and didn´t even damage a frigate. I have no control over the whole base it seems and it just fired on incomin missiles till the end.

    Yeah i think your critical mistake on this run was to upset the aliens too early, not only does hostile actions against the aliens increase their response, but your amount of used Mission Control will also have an impact, without the right techs you need to be careful with that.

    Firstly, thank you yet again for all your uploads - Every time I watch one I learn something new, be it Civ6 or this (and like you, now addicted - indeed, I bought it right after the first episode of this series) and you were certainly not joking about the sheer, mind buggering complexity on offer here coupled with really not knowing what the right options are & I have had some thoughts on this I would like to throw out
    First up, it seems to me that the AI is at long last one that can take actions right back at you & it even appears to know how to do war both covertly and overtly from what I have seen, and players who are used to the weak-ass AI in Civ6 are in for a rude awakening. Yes, the Aliens seem OP - but if I have correctly divined one of the intents of the developers (judging totally from their forums) this is realistic - and it seems to be one of the main goals to be as realistic as possible within the confines of still being a game, and therefore fun. But it definitely seems that there will be no easy victories (at least, to begin with) until we all learn what is important for each faction, how to not only manipulate in our favour but also against the AI.
    But there's the rub right there - how do we know what the correct course of action ought to be when dealing with what is - in every sense of the word - an Alien situation. They must be OP, or there is no game at all - let's face it, any creatures that can get here can take over any time they want militarily if that is the way they want to do it as they must needs be way, WAY ahead of us technically and (this is important too) with alien motivation.
    Trial & Error is the only way here, frustrating at times as this is (I have restarted a few times now, and each start is getting better as I learn more. This brings me to my second realization - it's okay to abandon a play through if you realise something seriously important that you did not do before - why fight through if you know you are losing purely because you don'y yet understand the mechanics & their various interactions as well as where you should be prioritizing your research efforts as by stubbornly fighting through I believe (although of course I may well be wrong) there will be negative consequences along the lines of brain overload caused by too much information too quickly, which unless you have a memory like a Supercomputer will be overwhelming.
    Another area which I know full well I fell right into at first was getting greedy, thinking I could merge into Mega-Nations but without first fully understanding the absolute necessity of needing the potential to exist in the first place - You cannot take over Mexico as the USA peacefully until you get the right tech, and it comes too late really.
    Invasion would be the sole option and that is risky - I think, but don't really know as I have not as yet tried this.
    Please though, keep up the playthroughs. They really are awesome & entertaining at the same time - it also makes a change to see you not just deciding at the start what your win condition will be as in Civ6, and for me this difference is huge as it's simply not possible in this game to say 'This is how I will win today'.

    I'm enjoying this game, and it did give me some hope to see that you were also getting your butt kicked in your first playthrough. In my second playthrough, I figured I'd try to play nice with the other factions so we could take on the aliens together, but I quickly found out that's not really a thing yet. Early access, sigh. Still, this game could be one of the greats once it's finished.
