that ZPU-4 is the quad 14.5mm KPV machiengun. the one shown here is the m1910/4. EDIT: The ZPU (Russian: ЗПУ; зенитная пулемётная установка, romanized: zenitnaya pulemotnaya ustanovka, meaning "anti-aircraft machine gun mount") so this applies to any AA gun mount up to cannon size so for the Soviets anything up to 14.5 mm.
A KS-12 of 85 MM was responsible of the last US plane shotdown in North Vietnam in January 1973....a US Navy F_4.

Fascinating vid. Sorry, I speak no Russian. I have questions though: What was that soldier removing from that roof? A flare? Also women in Soviet air defence - did they have specific roles? I see women involved in plotting firing and communication with batteries. Were women ever deployed to fire the flak guns?

A thermite bomb. And women were serving as AA gunners in the Soviet Union. There is a novel "the dawns are quiet here" about women working with AA guns. Or check out Mark Felton's productions channel. There is an episode about the women AA gunners who stopped the nazi tanks advancing at Stalingrad
Thanks for helping me out Vasiliy and Jozsef. I'd been thinking about this idea for a film about a young woman who decides to join the airforce but ends up in an anti-aircraft gun crew during the siege of Moscow.
What's funny is that _The Dawns Are Quiet Here_ is so close, that it can't be a coincidence. It must have been something I'd learned about the spirit of the Soviet fight against fascism that made me come up with something so similar to the story (based on real life, no?).
I also got the 2015 film version of TDAQH to watch.
@@thecaveofthedead np bro. Interesting, that you were thinking about this story for a film. However, The dawns are quiet here is less about the air defence. I am not sure if there is the AA gun scene in the 2015 movie. In the old movie there is a scene with girls shooting a quad gun.
Women served in almost every role in the Red Army, they were pilots, gunners, snipers, even tank drivers. I think there was no other country in ww2 where women could serve in any role. If you like these movies, watch "The attackers" it has 12 episodes, about fighter pilots in 1943. The crew are man and women together. This is a very good series

I still can't figure out which text is more miserable, English or Russian. Actually both are ridiculous. There are also too many factual errors. The first gun shown under the caption of 25 mm 1940 AA gun is 37 mm 1939 AA gun. And so on and so on.
