Colombian prison director killed: Elmer Fernandez shot in the head in Bogota

The new director of one of Colombia's biggest prisons has been shot dead, weeks after he and his family received death threats. Elmer Fernandez was heading home in Bogota when gunmen on a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle and shot him in the head. The former police colonel had implemented new policies to clean up Colombia's jails, where powerful criminal gangs operate.

He does his job and gets death threats and if an armoured vehicle isn't feasible at least some sort of security detail, even a bodyguard would have done?!?! Five guards have been killed and they didn't think this was serious enough to warrant some sort of protection!?!?
