People's Postcode Lottery winner DH6 4LR - Kelloe - 18 June 2009

Whats it like to be visited by our prize presentation team and handed a cheque for £25,000? This is what winner Keith Wharrier told us:
I saw people coming across the road with cameras and the lottery logo, they came through the gate, and I thought, it must be a mistake. I was flabbergasted!
Keith, 68, said: Id convinced myself I would never win anything in life so this is unbelievable! I joined up to help local good causes because I like to contribute to society but never thought Id win!
Enterprising Keith, whos lived in Kelloe all his life, worked for the National Coal Board, starting at the bottom and ending up a manager.
When his pit at Horden was closed, he set up a business making garden sheds and furniture but nowadays he enjoys a quiet retirement.
He had just paid for a new conservatory so said his win has come at just the right time. And hes planning to replace his 16-year-old car with a newer version.
