Great to hear your opinion on these decks. I do really like the Carnival deck and I'm planning on getting it, even though I'm not a fan of a few cards. I really like the creepy-fun vibes it gives off. I have Pagan Otherworlds as well and I find I'm generally drawn to more classic styled decks.
Thanks for this. The first place I saw the Dame Darcy deck was on Tarot Girl's channel, too, and I also thought I wouldn't want it, but now I feel drawn to it as part of my healing process. It just needed to be the right time, I think, and the gold edges and nicer packaging don't hurt!
Good day to you, Tom. I have major Carnival regret which I'll share to de-enable anyone on the fence who might be reading. There's simply not enough change in perspective. Nearly every card is face forward on a disc of some sort and very little going on outside them. Love the backs and the cardstock but don't think I'll be using it. Dame Darcy, on the other hand, I've finally allowed myself to go for and purchase the gold edition. The first editions came out about the time I was discovering tarot. When I heard and saw everything that came out on Aeclectic I crossed it off the wishlist. I'm happy with the revisions. In your flip through I was stuck by the Kings. Yummy and deep like a good King should be.
Yes! I'm totally surprised by the Mermaid deck. I keep reaching for it. It's a deck that really wants to be used. I haven't used the Carnival for more than one reading so far... Ugh .
The Carnival deck looks really cool, I just wonder if I'd use it. It's interesting most of the cards show characters on tiny patches of melting ice or little bits of earth. I guess that's part of the environmental message and it's also interesting the characters are floating in space....... like they have no landscape or backgrounds behind them. Just these isolated people in space lol. Also commentary I guess. Dame Darcy...... looks like maybe totally different card stock from before.... hard to tell but looks kind of like starchild thick matte? Used to be on the same waxy stock as the Stretch. I had no problems at all with those copyright issues...... how many RWS clones are there. ...... how many three of swords show a heart with three swords on it........ I love this deck but never use it! Your comment about not being a sea shanty singing reader was great.
Hahaha thanks!! I don't have the Starchild, so I'm not sure if it's similar. It's a lot like the new Naked Heart Tarot, but a little bit thicker than that.

I came so close to backing the Carnival but decided not to at the last minute... I still love the look of it. It almost reminds me of my Fantastic Menagerie in a way, but I'm not convinced I'd actually use it. I think I'll keep my fingers crossed for a trade! :D

Also, I think that era you were trying to name strikes me as Victorian Casanova if you know what i mean. I almost get a hint of S & M, very faint, mind you. It's great deck. Ahh!! I just saw your comments about this one. I will say I haven’t had that much of an issue shuffling this one. I’m do riffle shuffle it and it doesn’t;’t give me much of an issue. I think it might just take some effort. Victoria Casanova is a great name!! I love that!!

Totally share your last minute observation, "I've become such a cardstock snob which I wasn't!" When I first started many years ago and had one deck, and even when maybe 3 or so years ago I acquired a new deck and branched out a bit, cardstock never really crossed my mind as a consideration at all. Now... I have to say that rave reviews about beautiful matte cardstock can push me over the edge to click 'order' (ie. Pagan Otherworlds), and decks I like being printed on cardstock I know I really, really won't like (sticky super glossy) can actually deter me.
The Carnival at the End of the World looks gorgeous. The images remind me a lot of the Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht. Exactly! How many more Alice decks do we need lol! 😆 I've yet to pull the trigger on Dame D yet have always been drawn to it. I am put off this edition by the coloured border. The Carnival deck is truly beautiful but I doubt I would ever read with it. Thanks for showing these 😎

I love my Dame Darcy deck. I just recently got mine and am glad I waited for the gold edition.
