I don't have this edition...but I am always thinking about it...cardstock, box, the pretty gilding...but I already have two copies from different printings...and they feel like two different decks. The first edition I got totally by chance off a music shop website...Dame Darcy is an underground comic artist. She has done a few album covers as well. She was a kind of "club character" like someone you'd meet at studio 54. One of my old New York friends said she got a bit flirty with her boyfriend back in the day...not surprising. I really love the new cards that she painted after the "Mermaid Tarot controversy" - where some of the cards were found to be copies of an older Mermaid deck - but the publishers of that deck were not overly concerned, in fact, it was US - the tarot community who were upset. She re-drew at least 20 of the cards, and I have the second iteration of the deck, where you can REALLY see the two different art-styles.In this new deck, she went through and updated the saturation and color so the deck seems to blend together better. Both of mine are on regular slippery, slightly textured cards and came in organza bags. They are such different decks. I love the first one though. The carefree, quick draw comic style...it's indescribable. I carry this deck everywhere with me. It has been on the beach, in hotel rooms, restaurants, airports, camping trips, I mean it's in my purse all the time. I've done readings in my car, at the cemetery, ghost readings, love readings, this is the deck I pick when reading for my own relationship. I can't explain it, it's just my friend. The second edition languishes in a wooden box, but I love the new artwork so much, I would never let it go. I also have her book, "The Handbook for Hot Witches" which is an illustrated newby witch book with some recipes and stuff, VERY LIGHT READING - definitely for the teenage squirrel witch...but it's fun. I will eventually get the big "Meatcake Bible" - her big comic volume. She also does a patreon gig with some hand-crafted doll stuff...it's fun. But the DECK. yep, I'm a fan.
I love this deck! To those that want to be aware, there was some controversy surrounding this deck back in the day if you want to google it 😕. That being said, this appears to be the 3rd version of the deck with the updated art work and I love it. 💕 Thanks, Lisa!
@@littlefrog6288 In the initial edition, some of the artwork was copied from another mermaid tarot deck. I think those cards have been redrawn now though.
I LOVE that you said her art reminds you of old comic books. I read that she has created comics as part of her career! I am getting her Queen Alice Deck also and cannot wait!!
I loved this! I just got this deck too (after I saw you mention it in your channel) and although I've only flipped through it, I love it already! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it. ❤️
I have been using this for a year now and it's easy to read with. I did readings for all my friends and family at the beach last year and it was right on point. Its perfect for summer readings, near ocean.
I’m glad you did a video on this deck, I always love your commentary on the cards. I finally got this deck after watching Tom Benjamin’s review on it last year. I haven’t really worked with it much as I’m usually busier in the fall/winter season and see this more as a summer deck, but I do love the images. I’m curious to hear how this deck works for you in client readings. Great video, Lisa! Hugs 🙏🏼
I love this deck so much...it has such a fun camp feel but it also reads beautifully for just about any situation. Every edition of this deck has been a little different...this is the Gold Edition which is the fourth overall and it’s so gorgeous! I have the second and third editions which don’t have boxes or gilding...the borders are a little funky and irregular and the coloring is a bit less vibrant especially in the second edition...but I also love the handmade-feeling quality of them, something about them is so charming. I hope you enjoy working with it!
Just bought this, can't wait for it to come. As a newbie with training wheels I appreciate that it's an RWS clone essentially as I can use my key words! Ty xx
This deck has always been on my B-list, I don't even know why because I love everything about it. Dame Darcy likes my two favourite historical costume periods: the 1920s and the rococo. And she clearly loves Pierre et Gilles. In fact, two of the queens looked so familiar that I took down my P&G art book from the shelf and at least the Qs of Pents and Swords, and the Magician are drawn exactly from their artwork! (portraits of Nina Hagen, Zuleika and Leo as Phayanak) I'm assuming all the copyright issues are in order so we can all enjoy this deck with a clear conscience.
I really like this deck - normally I go for really austere, serious decks. But for some reason, I really like this deck. Will definitely add it to the collection!
I thought I wasn't going to like it at all (and I don't know why because I freaken love mermaids (I'm from Denmark where The Little Mermaid is from)), but I actually really love it a lot! Thanks for the walk through :)

I've loved this deck for ages and ages but it's so expensive for shipping to the UK:).
For NL also. The shipping cost is like the decl itself.
hummm not feeling this deck not sure why I do like mermaids and it has lovely artwork. Oh well I'm not meant to like all the tarot decks.
I have this deck but I can’t use it, cause the printing messes with my eyes, like it’s fuzzy 😢 shame cause I love the artwork
