Alan Wilder did most of the musical arrangements in the studio. Martin may have written the songs, but he would play them back on his guitar. Alan would be in the studio putting the music together. I always felt like he never got enough credit when he was with the group.
Not exactly true , Martin's demos were pretty much always synth based and were arranged to a point , just usually way more basic than Alan's arrangement .
That really isn't true. Alan has received more than enough credit for his contribution to the band. He quit due to emotional exhaustion from touring non-stop over a period of 6+ years. The Devotional tour was the biggest one the band had ever done and it was the last straw for Wilder, after which he'd decided that he'd had enough. Him and the rest of the band have always been on very good terms and still are. Please, don't create controversy, where there isn't one. Peace.
What I wouldn’t do to have Fletch’s job. A multimillionaire musician in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band and all I needed to do is play a single note or trigger a sample at the right time. No matter what FLETCH WON IN LIFE!
@@abbyboyone yeah exactly…. died 3 weeks after a bicycle accident from an undiagnosed aortic dissection while Martin and Dave are still chugging along.
He never claimed to be a musician did he ? He plays bits and pieces despite the perception he doesn't . He's martin gores rock and depeche aren't depeche without him .
According to Andy McCluskey (OMD) when they toured with DM for Masses they made fun of Fletch because they found out his keyboard wasn't even plugged in while performing. Looks like by Devotional they were willing to give Fletch one key to play. LOL
Ok..you may not believe this, but in 1984 during the SGR tour, Fletch played the piano part to Somebody all alone while Martin sang. I saw this with my own eyes. It’s been all “downhill” since then...lol.
Which city this happened? I could believe you, because in Exotic tour Fletch was playing string parts in One caress, when Martin sang and Alan played piano. You can see it on Johannesburg video.
I saw DM on this tour as well and you are correct. Also if you find the recording here on youtube or on the dmlive wiki you can easily hear that it isn't Alan playing. Not that Fletch plays it badly but he does not have the same sense of timing. Still not as bad as when Gordeno plays it though, that lounge lizard just make me cringe.
I still can't identify exactly what sound Fletcher was playing in this song. Now, I don't know if after Wilder he acquired a little more prominence in Policy of Truth, because at the Milan concert in 2006 we see him using a pair of headphones when he played it.
Going into this I assumed Alan’s was as something similar to this, and I knew Martin’s part. I know Fletch usually didn’t play much and had mostly background drones (that would be very noticeable if he messed up the timing to his credit) but seeing just the one finger was pretty funny to me each time lol
Esa es una de las razones por las cuales se fue Wilder... porque Fletch ganaban lo mismo, ademas le dio depresión a la mitad de la gira y solo utilizando un dedo. Que triste 😞
Nice cover but the real member parts are Martin: The lead sinth, The guitar riff-like sound of the chorus, organ, sax, and slipping guitar accompanying synth lead. Alan: opening guitar sequence, guitar stabs in the organ part and the piano hits. Fletch :The shrill fade-in sound that accompanies the organ, the string sound that plays below the synth leads, and the soun bass In The interlude that sounds like a "brummmm"
You can clearly see that Fletch hits something in 0:48 and you didn't play anything then. So I don't think that Fletch plays only this one note you've shown here.
This video is in no way a precise testament to neither the way the parts where split between band members or between them and the backing tape. Plenty of soundboard recordings and videos can demonstrate that.
Petr Bartoš He does. This video is bullshit made to entertain idiots who repeat the same misconception bout Fletch without having any first hand knowledge of how DP actually plays live.
I wonder if he has to operate & supervise the playback of the pre-recorded parts. Perhaps he may have some responsibilities if Alan or Martin's keyboard stops working
Good thing Fletch carried his weight on this one otherwise the song would fall apart.
Reginator hahahahahahahahahaha
Roflmao
Always...
cruel but funny
thes two notes are looped ;D ffs Andy, realy?
How is Fletch able to play that key and clap at the same time??? amazing!
Maybe something like moog taurus :p
So this is why Fletch was always clapping his hands when the cameras were on him during concerts. The joy of samples.
Alan Wilder did most of the musical arrangements in the studio. Martin may have written the songs, but he would play them back on his guitar. Alan would be in the studio putting the music together. I always felt like he never got enough credit when he was with the group.
Den Martos that’s why he left when he did. He felt he wasn’t recognized, and compensated for the amount of work he put in.
Not exactly true , Martin's demos were pretty much always synth based and were arranged to a point , just usually way more basic than Alan's arrangement .
Indeed, that's exactly what he said when he was asked why he had left the band.. :(
Alan wasn't happy with the fact that fletcher was getting more recognition than he was.mind you he never got on with fletch.
That really isn't true. Alan has received more than enough credit for his contribution to the band. He quit due to emotional exhaustion from touring non-stop over a period of 6+ years. Can you make a tutorial for fletch’s part, seems really technical
I've learned fletch's part yeah! now i'm a musician 😁
LOOOOL
Not sure, gives the number of the keyboard key from the left that Fletch uses in less than two seconds. You have already lost and learned badly.
Well Fletch is only there to clap after all!!
OMG IT'S VAUGHN GEORGE!
Andrew Fletcher , best one finger keyboard player ever!
"Honey you look tired!"
Fletch: "I had to use one finger the whole concert!"
"Aww honey, need a bandaid?"
Haha!!! Good one.
What I wouldn’t do to have Fletch’s job. A multimillionaire musician in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band and all I needed to do is play a single note or trigger a sample at the right time. No matter what FLETCH WON IN LIFE!
Jealous?
You sure about that?!

@@giannighilardi6396 Stop spreading lies.

Hat possibly contributed to the inferiority complex that Fletch developed. Which resulted in nit-picking Dave and a bad relationship with Alan ((
This is great. Alan the boss.
it pays to have good friends who start a band and keep you along for the ride... right fletch
Some say Ringo was the luckiest man in the music biz. We all know it was Fletch.
Alan Wilder 👏👏👏

Andy is amazing playing keyboards lol
Fletch, make me dream again.
Fletch rox hard!
If I start today, in 10 years I will gain the musical prowess to master Fletch’s part
Fletch always had it, Marvelous musicianship Beautiful 👌
As usual, Fletch was all but brilliant on this one. GG VP
Please, I need the partition of Fletcher.
Fletcher giving Lol Tolhurst a run for his money
The string sound at 1:13 (before chorus) is actually played by Martin, not Alan (or Peter nowadays).
Alan 👍👍👍
good work mr fletch 😂
hahahahahahahahahahaha you all know why I'm laughing. 😀 and you sir are awesome

AWESOME!!! You're the BEEEEEEST Man!!!

Great work! Have u sampled sounds from policy of truth stems?
Güzel...
Well done, Fletch! XD
Alan plays melody, Martin plays lead sounds, Fletch plays piano. Who plays the beat? Who plays loops?
The rest of it is on tape.

Hey Alan great melody.. but you forgot fletch note oh my bad

How did you get those original samples? They sound excellent !!
I have some of them

Hi, where did you download these samples?
omg so fucking dying of Endi-Pendi's part XD
Fletch...😁
Samples?
I noticed on Fletch's part the very same key produced two different notes, is it just playing a sample with two notes?

Are you willing to share these magnificent samples ?
