    My take as a Shark's fan.
    We're probably finishing last (32nd) but might end up 31st (with Chicago last).
    The draft lottery could have other teams win the 1st and 2nd picks.
    At worst, I think the Sharks and Hawks each have top four picks.
    Schaefer is the first choice.
    Dickinson looks to be a first pair defender on pretty much any team in the league; he plays powerplay, short handed and is a work horse for even strength... and he's very good defensively too.
    But aside from Dickinson, while the Sharks have decent defense options they don't have superb defense options.
    Schaefer would be my second defense pair, behind Dickinson, but I'd play them like a 1a and 1b with similar ice time.
    I think Misa is the best of the forwards for the Sharks.
    The team already has the deepest and likely best offense for the future.
    They're lacking on defense, and Misa's game is very complete.
    I'd personally go with a Smith/Misa line and a Celebrini/Eklund line; I don't think it matters which of Smith/Misa is the center or wing.
    That gets two lines of creative players with great hockey sense and a very good defensive player on each line.
    I wouldn't be upset with Hagens (my 3rd) or Martone (my 4th), but think Schaefer and Misa are the top two for the Sharks.

    I watch SJ as I'm a west coaster and I am a bit torn regarding taking Schaefer or Misa. I have Schaefer as the #1 pick if SJ gets the first pick and I think he's incredible but a part of me almost wants to see things play out where SJ gets Misa just see how it pans out with Celeb and Misa down the middle. Both options are incredible but SJ potentially having two high end top line centers down the middle (I think Misa is better than a lot of scouts are saying) is a very seductive proposition.
    As much as I like Will Smith's hockey brain, I think Misa would be a better center. Right now Smith suffers from oftentimes having players who aren't good enough to get in position to be on the receiving end of his elite vision but it's still hard to project how he'll eventually in a playoff hockey run at center. Misa just seems like he will handle the physical rigors of it better but it's just so early, who can say.
    Misa makes playing the game at a high level look so effortless and he seems so efficient in his movements that he may not pop to the eye of those who haven't watched hockey for years and years. The subtle way he changes speed at just the right moment to create more space to operate is really exceptional. It doesn't look flashy to the eye, but if you see what he's doing, you recognize the genius in motion. His game translate right now.
    Damn, Schaefer or Misa. I say they take Schaefer but I really want to see 2 top line centers in SJ. This post sounds like I'm down on Schaefer. I'm actually not but I think Misa will surpass all the scout projections for him.
    Can Grier pulls off a 1999-esque Brian Burke (when he traded McCabe and a future 1st for the #4 pick overall and then made a subsequent trade to move up from #4 to #2 so they could take both Sedin twins. I doubt that type of wheeling and dealing is possible in today's NHL as the salary cap limitations have made top 3 picks so much more valuable. But that would incredible to come away with Schaefer and Misa. We need wheeling and dealing.
    More likely they get one of these guys and then are still in a position to get big RD Keaton Verhoeff or C Ryan Roobroeck in the following draft. Interesting to watch the build.

      A good case for both Schaefer or Misa going to SJ! Either way you can't lose with either one of those prospects! The NHL draft lottery is going to be crazy this year!

      Totally agree with this as an SJ fan. If they can't get Schaefer I think Misa is the next best option. He and Smith can battle it out for the 2nd line center, but Misa is more 2-way than Smith. Nothing wrong with too many centers! Especially defensively responsible ones!

    Intriguing point with the position less hockey when it comes to Misa playing wing. I wonder if that mindset with his well rounded game would prevent him from dropping out of 2-3.
    Also would love to know who Linc sees the flyers getting in there realistic draft range?

    Really feels like it’s going to be a 2 horse race between Misa and Schaefer. I think both of these guys pull away and will be safely in the 1 and 2 spots come draft day. There’s just too much to like and not many down sides to either player. Hagens and Martone are both obviously playing at an elite level but I feel like they have more apparent weaknesses in there games at this point in time.

      Also as a Hawks fan I’m really hoping for Misa above all else. I think he would eventually become our #1C with Bedard moving to the wing then someone like Moore or Nazar filling in that last wing spot on our top line.

      I agree with this! And this is how I have my new rankings as Schaefer at 1 and Misa at 2, but I think it will depend on what a team needs depending on lottery.

      Sam Dickinson is a 2-3, Schaefer is a 1 who can drive more offense and QB a Powerplay. It makes the most sense to build their D core when they've spent the last four drafts building their forward core.

    • @therealrabbithole9088
      @therealrabbithole9088 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ i guess you haven seen what sam dickinson has done at the oHL level this year . Hes absolutely dominating

    • @antoninop.1411
      @antoninop.1411 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@therealrabbithole9088 - Well, that all depends on how the team's front office views Dickinson. If they think he's a true #1, then they won't prioritize taking Schaefer, but the consensus with most that have watched both Dickinson and Schaefer play is that Dickinson projects as a really good 2nd pairing Dman and Schaefer projects as a team's #1 overall Dman. Why is that? Well I get to that you'll stick around for the TLDR version.
      Dickinson is having a very good draft +1 year but when you compare the two (Dick and Schaef), Schaefer is more trustworthy in all phases of the game and all areas of the ice. Dickinson is putting up great counting stats and he is using his large frame to play a more physical this year which is great for his development. That said, it's easy get swayed by the numbers he's putting up but even this year, by many accounts (and having seen him play myself) he still makes too many questionable decisions to project as a #1 D (and I'm not basing this on him gloving the puck into his own net in the WJs). You get a bit of a Burns vibe when watching Dickinson (not as much of an adventure on D as Burns was/is but you do wonder when the next 'glitch' is going to happen. You just don't quite feel as confident in putting him out there in all situations as you would Schaefer. Dick is really good and valuable but he just doesn't have the poise and mind of a #1..at least not at this point. Schaefer does. His game is mature well beyond his years. You're more confident in Schaefer when he's out there in close games at the critical moments that he won't have a lapse as he always seems to read the ice properly to make right play. Like I think has been said, Schaefer is the type of D that lowers a coaches blood pressures because he knows what he'll get from him every time he's out there. That's what was said about Ekblad when he was coming out as well.
      You have to also take into consideration that Schaefer is I believe the youngest draft eligible in his class (among 1st rounders at least) so he's almost a year younger than many of his draft peers. And also factor in what many said during and after the recent world juniors. Most of Canada's Dmen were 19, one was almost 20. Then Dickinson was 18. And Schaefer 17. When Schaefer went down to injury, none of the other D, including Dickinson, were able to fill the void left when Schaefer went down and there was noticeable dropoff in Canada's play. Schaefer was important enough for many to notice that his absence was critical to Canada's overall performance, and that's a young 17 year old playing up at the U20s (not the U18s where 17 year olds usually play) that they are talking about. That actually does speak volumes and that's one of the main reasons why he's virtually cemented as the #1 pick in many scout's eyes. And why he projects as a #1 D. These guys are very rare. You don't pass them up if given the opportunity.

      @@therealrabbithole9088even with what he's doing he's still not considered a #1

    • @therealrabbithole9088
      @therealrabbithole9088 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ only factor to consider really is his age.(schaeffer). He is the younger out of the bunch. However, i would advise nobody to draft A D man over a great C ever. Your example of ekblad is unappealing to me. Over the past 10 years
      , D men that have been picked first or second overall havent done much at the NHL level. They hardly propel their team to the next level. (Owen, dahlin, etc). As for ekblad, hes hardly a top 10 d-men and his defense is terrible. Florida would be nothing without forsling. Picking a d men with the first overall pick is risky business. Makar wasnt picked 1st nor was lane hutson or quinn hugues.
      Sam dickinson isnt a second D men. Unsure were you got that information , please share the source . In most sharks forum, they all project him as # 1. He is leading all D men AND most forward in the OHL currently with 20 goals and 38 assists in as few as 34 games. Even hockey dobber projects sam dickinson as being one of the best young D men post 2024
      Sure scheffers good, hes had a clavicle fracture. Not all clavicle fractures heal the same way. But he will be setback by 3-4 months minimum.
      Misa is a sure bet for the sharks period
