  • We just decided to take a tour in the Central Market to see what changes were there, seeing I haven't visited the market in about five years. I remember when I was a kid it used to be the busiest market in Suriname, but not anymore. In time I think that market will be replaced.

    Cracks me up how Talat does most of these things with you! So much fun seeing familiar faces and places. I honestly didn't expect the market to be that clean, maybe because it wasn't as busy as it could be? I also expected a lot more dead...things....🤣🤣🤣. Seems like Korea has more than Suriname in that respect! Thanks for another great video!

      Hi Corrie, Talat is the only friend I hang out alot with, we go back a very long time, and both of us like the same fun and hobbies, Talat is also like a mentor, he always encourages me and pushes me never to sit still. Actually the markets here in Suriname have a management team that make sure they are always kept clean. the Central Market is not as busy as it once was, lots of little vegetable stands all over the country.

    Goedemorgen Greg,
    Tot de volgende vlog 👋

      Hallo Suraj goedemiddag, bedankt, ja ik voel me met de dag beter, ja ik hoop dat die markt er altijd zal zijn, maar het is niet zo druk als vroeger. Er is meer toegang tot groenten en vis in de buurten van de mensen, dus de mensen gaan zelden naar de markt. precies hier in Suriname houden mensen er niet van om gefilmd te worden, dus je moet voorzichtig zijn. Bedankt voor het genieten van de tour, ik waardeer het enorm.😄🇸🇷

      I completely agree. When I was in Suriname, I had to go to the bank. I had on my sunglasses and was checking something on my phone. The cops approached me and asked me to remove my sunglasses and asked me not to use my phone in the bank. It was actually scary. And they don't allow you with shorts in CBB. Very strict country.

    • @Gregs-Arlventures
      @Gregs-Arlventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are not allow to use you phone in the banks, have a hat on, goes more for men, and sunglasses, I guys it is for security reasons. More and more it is becoming a rule to follow a dress code to go into certain places, mostly government offices or any embassy

    • @teresita1320
      @teresita1320 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Suriname wants to present itself as a modern country, but is sometimes very old-fashioned, such as no shorts when you enter an office to be helped at the counter. But still i love Surinam, is my homeland.

    All those fresh fruits and vegetables have me yearning for some. We do get most of those here in Canada, but by the time they land in the grocery stores they’ve been locked away and travelling for weeks, so not exactly fresh and don’t taste the same....but we still buy them 🤷🏽‍♀️. OMG....the fresh fish!!!

    I can't believe how dead the place is. They have the best Chinese food at that market. But I have to say, they are very expensive. Would find better prices elsewhere. Especially in Nieuw-Amsterdam, you can get fresh fish for cheap and you'll be supporting the local fishermen. It would be nice if they could replace it with a resort and mall to attract more tourists.

    • @Gregs-Arlventures
      @Gregs-Arlventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the market is not as busy as it was years ago, yes I find the fish expensive, but even in Nieuw Amsterdam, the fish there is pricy too, yes you get better deals but I think until not the best deals might be kwatta market. I think eventually in the future that will be the case a shopping mall.
