Since lockdown I keep stumbling across your art commentaries. They always lift my spirits and take me in to another world. The mention of Augustus John makes me think of his painting Madame Suggia which I have only recently come across. Another great portrait.

6:22 this line sketch is good. Renaissance-esque
2:52 that's one of those sketches that should be worth as much as a painting
chance, craftsmanship, form, line, the blue brush stroke. skill and chance made this sketch great in equal measure.

In actual fact Lydia Millar went to Canada to research Mc Evoy for her PHD. She is probably the best authority on him.
