Thanks to your recommendation, I ordered one and put it to use on some reverse seared New York Strips. Temperature was really spot on, and the results were great. Won my wife's approval, and my stomach's.
How much longer before we get to see you get that 6 series vertical out of the box?!?! Can't wait to see someone using it as it'll be years before I get that model in Australia
Sorry I missed this video and I didn't get in on the giveaway results video today but I did use your link and got me one coming tomorrow. I've had my eye on this for a bit now and by you explaining this new thermometer in this video you finally pushed me over the edge...thanks for that lol - you're the man!
I have to look into this. I have an older Inkbird which I like but the range isn't great. This looks like it takes care of that. Good looking ribs, nice video!
Sergeant, I just purchased a PitBoss Vertical smoker elite 6. I have used it twice and noticed that the built in temp probes are not accurate. Do you recommend that I use this instead. I also dont trust the smoker temp sensor, its all over the place. What do you think.
@@GrillSergeant First 2 times I did a combination ok smoke mode first, then PID. My 3rd time I did only PID and smoker temperature was stable, until I covered the pork butt and then the smoker temperature went high and was fluctuating and meat probe was also all over the place
@@GrillSergeant I did at first, but as the cook went on I did not. Good tip I will keep it filled next time. What about yourself, do you use the PBV6 Pro Series as is, or are you using this Thermometer instead ?
I may just buy one of these (inkbird thingy) to give away to a friend that actually is willing to use and/or install apps on his phone. I think he might really like one of these. Would be fun to give a guy like that one.
I bought this from your Amazon link and was very disappointed. It came with only 4 probes even though it said it came with 6. We contacted Inkbird and was told that they were only selling 4 probes and 6 would be released in the future. Very disappointed in this!
You are not alone. I was wondering why mine came with only 4 but the title in the Amazon link says 4 probes. I do find it lame that it has six ports but only comes with 4 probes. That really makes no sense. All that being said it’s a great thermometer. So I ordered the extra probes.
@@GrillSergeant I agree it is really great. We did loose connection frequently on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi… but easy to reconnect. I did see on Amazon it did say 4 probes. It’s just upsetting that we thought we were getting six. The box and the instructions say supports six probes. I was going by what you you said on your video and thinking we were getting six. We’re going to keep it but not as happy with it since I feel we were dupped in to thinking we were getting 6 probes. Guess at some point we will order the additional probes. We were hoping to win it lol. But bought it instead because Amazon had a really big discount on it.
5G and 5GHz are not the same thing. Implementing 5G on a BBQ thermometer would be like hammering a nail with a sledge hammer. Many WiFi access points support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, where previous models only supported 2.4GHz. 5GHz has faster transfer speeds, but worse range than 2.4GHz. High throughput is not really necessary for this type of application, so marketing 5GHz is a marketing ploy. Many reviewers have been saying this supports 5G mistakenly, which means their ploy has been working. The people who would benefit from this are those who have single-band (5GHz) support at home, but most consumer access points out there are dual band (2.4/5GHz) and can handle both simultaneously.
I just ruined two racks of ribs on 4th of July using that device. It worked great for two prior cooks. I was very happy. The last cook was horrible. I wish it had just died. Instead, it was reading the temp very low. I ended up way too hot and made two racks of garbage ruining my cookout, wasting time, and the meat. It was not the probe. It was the device. Yes, it was fully charged.
I had a similar experience with mine. I found the temperature reading even on the first use to be very unreliable. It would constantly swing +/- 30F. It looks really nice but speaking to its functionality I think it's a horrible unit.
@@ActualSighs The Meater+ is actually what I had before this, but the ambient temperature sensor cracked during the first cook. That's why I decided to go with wired. Just bad luck I guess haha

InkBird Rocks!
Great sequence of temps for cooking too. Good looking ribs.
I love beef short ribs. I rotate mine around so it gets even bone pull on both sides. But that’s just my personally preference. Nice job
VERY NICE looking ribs ya did up there! GREAT JOB friend!

So it's been about a year, are you still using it? How did it work over the year?
Another great review and you absolutely nailed the cook on those Ribs! 👍🏼👍🏼🍺🍺

Are you running in PID or Smoke Mode?

What's the difference between the IBT-26S and IBT-26S (5G) on the app when connecting this device don't they both have 5g capabilities?
