I suggest that you zip tie the bait to the bottom center of your basket traps. That way the crabs will remain in the bottom of the trap when you pull it up making escape more difficult. Less string, easier setup.

I blue crab a lot to with collapsible traps in Virginia . I don’t like fishing anymore but this year I’m going to try crab snare to get a little further out. Maybe you should try on the side for a little different content to keep it fresh. I don’t see anyone doing it for blue crabs. Love your content I’m just sitting here waiting for my water temps to get up to start crabbing.
