Step-by-Step Procedure for Constructing a Steel Overhead Water Tank
1. Planning and Design
Capacity Calculation: Determine the tank's size based on water demand.
Structural Design:
Design the tank to handle water pressure, wind load, seismic forces, and dead load.
Follow applicable standards (e.g., BS5950, Euro code etc).
Material Selection: Choose appropriate steel (e.g., mild steel, stainless steel) and coatings for corrosion protection.
2. Site Preparation
Survey and Soil Testing: Assess soil bearing capacity to ensure it can support the structure.
Foundation Design: Create a foundation plan based on soil properties and the tank's load.
3. Foundation Construction
Excavation: Excavate the site to the required depth based on the foundation design.
Reinforcement and Concrete Work:

4. Column and Tower Construction

9. Finishing and Commissioning
Ladders and Railings: Install ladders, railings, and access platforms for maintenance.
Final Inspection: Ensure all components meet the design and safety requirements.
Commissioning: Begin operational use of the tank.
