  • Two of our favorite boondocking places are within 25 minutes of each other around the city of Wall, SD and the Badlands National Park. We visit these places every year, and thought I would do an in-depth view of both places along with a spot that you can pull over for the night.

Enjoyed the video. Just subscribed! We visited Steer Pasture Overlook in June and really enjoyed it. We will have to check out these areas next trip.

You're not lying about a van getting stuck on a banana peel. My dad's van got stuck on a flat dolomite parking lot at the boat landing. All his buddies laughed.😀

I've seen this site on some other RV posts. You are correct, that it gets VERY muddy and slick when it rains as seen in some other poats going to the cliffs. They never made it but half way to the towers. Several I was watching never made it to the top and had to be pulled out. Was the RV blown over the edge before or after you were there? (This is fact not myth) That place is on our to do list. Thanks

We were there before the blown over rv. From the pictures I saw, the guy parked right where we stood by the edge. When we were there we had some strong winds with just normal weather. I couldn’t imagine what a storm would bring. I was glad to be on the opposite side of the road and not near the cliff. For me, bringing a chair over and hanging out near the edge is good enough!

Yep- thats about 50 miles from where I live. Its been an awesome spot available for quite a while. This must be an old video as there is snow on the ground now. The wildlife and bighorn sheep are amazing as they are often right near the sites. Sage creek is great for night sky (Astronomy) and listening to the coyotes howl at night. The gravel road is fine in rain but out hiking can get pretty slippery. Water and dump is available at Badlands visitor center campground.

Hey Scott! Yes, I took most of that footage this last summer, and it was on my 'todo' list to create a vid that talked about both of those spots as they are our favorites. Thanks for the comment!
