Some dogs and people are sensitive to histamines. For these folks, foods high in histamines can cause issues. This includes fermented foods, some probiotics, and canned fish. I myself had this issue and all these things made my problems worse. I would have an open mind regarding triggers. Some of the worst triggers can be healthy foods.
Wow, so much information! You have addressed many issues that are new to me (and I do a lot of research). What brand of detergent is considered safe for our pets? Ideally something fragrance free!
Glad it was helpful! We do recommend fragrance free and brands can vary depending on your location in the world. A good website to check out is www.ewg.org/skindeep/
Not to be negative but what do lower income people do for their dogs? The Supplements you recommend are high quality but I see a bill with the fur test of approximately $500 plus if someone wants an appointment with you. Just the Whole Food Supplement I ordered is (was) $70. That is just one supplement. And then we end up with the Supplement Grave Yard you mentioned. I had to quit trying because some of us just can't afford all the different opinions. I appreciate the effort but it's not possible for MOST of us. I'm considering returning my 13 month old pup to the breeder as they requested I do because I cannot seem to undo the VX damage that he received as a pup. I'm overwhelmed now and about to give up. Sad.
My cat has a body odor issue. He looks healthy with no skin issues though he is itchy around his ears. His ears used to contain very dark wax and he was itching them. I treated the ears with Zymox Otic (enzyme cleaner/hydrocortisone) and his ears are very clean now and he seems to itch them much less though he still somewhat itchy around the ears. He is eating a raw diet following the full prey model. I took him to the vet who said he was a normal healthy cat but he still exhibits the body odor issue. I also put a prebiotic/probiotic supplement in his food ( Pet Honesty). Thank you for any comments.
This can be frustrating! I’m doing a free webinar about healing these types of issues on May 28th if you’d like to learn more. Here’s the link to register: thenaturalpetdoctor.mykajabi.com/heal-your-pets-gut-naturally
Thank you so much for this concise video on addressing itchy skin. I have a dog rescue and most of the dogs enter this phase at some point. It's my thought it's vaccines (toxins) and/or detox as they get put on a healthy diet. I have one dog who just blossomed, she was just beautiful but recently has had acute skin issues, ie chewing on back, losing hair, angry redness. It's frustrating to know what may be triggering this. My question is, starting with the first SP products, how long do you supplement each phase? One bottle? Then move to the next product? This dog has been on raw for 2 years, only got one rabies shot, treated homeopathically and with gemmotherapy for central nerv system and elimination. We do not use pesticides as a rule and soap/detergent is super clean. It's just a mystery!
An additional thing to consider is shampoos, conditioners and grooming products. Most of these are loaded with toxic chemicals. I know many people who wash their dogs weekly. That is a huge exposure.
We have started fostering 2yr old stray cat and have started searching about spaying cats. I have read and understood the importance but what I cannot search on internet is -If its ok for us to spay cats before one litter and deprive the cat of becoming mother.Do cat wants to become a mother?
One of my cats has itchy skin now and then. I started giving him a little L-Lysine and then putting some aloe vera gel on the worst areas.... seems to be working well.

@@thenaturalpetdoctor He had an eye infection when he was a kitten, vet said it was a herpes virus. I get shingles and take Lysine for that so I figured it out. I don't think his issue is gut health. I do have a cat with gut and urninary issues but we are also working that out too.

Hi, Thanks for your message and for watching this video. Raw goat milk and other fermented products can certainly help gut health in many instances. You may find our other video with Billy Hoekman from Green Juju informative for this topic. Here is the link. th-cam.com/video/UlbYUTIhQFI/w-d-xo.html
There are many other ways to help too - the biggest thing that I find missing is that we still have to heal the ecosystem in the gut along with restoring the microbiome. Gut Restore capsules are frequently used in my healing protocols for my patients, along with the other things I discuss in this video too👍

I am a big fan of raw feeding, however all raw foods are not created equal. In addition, unless you are feeding homemade raw, a true elimination diet will be difficult. For example, a friend had an allergic dog who turned out to be allergic to fish oil which is pretty much in every food.

What is a good laundry detergent that won't typically cause issues?
We personally use 7th Generation but there are many other natural brands or even making your own if you like DIY stuff!
I use soap nuts. You can use wool dryer balls and apple cider vinegar instead of fabric softeners which are the worst.
