Yeah, it's been a while i haven't had this much fun and want to complete a game start to finish for hours on end, most modern game don't even make me want to spend multiple hours finishing them, this one had me hooked from start to the end and i love the little specialties you have to do to or to respect to unlock some of the most rare races with opponents that can only be unlocked through special feats.
Any Dreamcast fans here that remembers MSR? which then lead to Project Gotham Racing and so Forza racing was born! I can't wait to get Tokyo Xtreme Racer!
Ah yes... Welcome to the world of Genki's Racing games. When it comes to the TXR series, this game is somewhat of a niche racing game where it is mostly focus on the dangerous highway racing scene in Japan. It really did capture the feel and urge or racing on the highway, and its sense of speed can reflect that. As of right now, it is having a very good early access launch as there's quite a lot of people playing this on Steam. Just hoping after they finish this game, they would try to work on their other TXR spin-off and revive it, which I refer to the "Kaido Battle" series.
Also, seeing lots of complain here about the camera shake. It is goddamn necessary as it does give a bit of sense of speed, and Danger of racing a car on a public road.
In car they don't need it. Genki is still small team btw, although there is a VR that someone find a way to get into in-car camera, but no detailed interior, mind you
I use steering wheel and it has same feeling as the classic arcade racers like wangan, and initial d, if you played those before you’ll know what I mean, I beated the game last night and loved it, hoping they add more to the story
I remember all the special things you had to do to get some racers to show. Like specific days or time in game. Or had to enter on a specific ramp. Or specific color of your car. Then we flash the headlights and race. So many white knuckle races. And my favorite car was the detomaso pantera. Ahhh nostalgia. Now im gonna fire up my dreamcast.
As so just been playing Tokyo extreme racer for about 3 decades now and the different versions from PlayStation to Dreamcast to PlayStation 2. I hate hearing reviews on the games on people who don't know what they're talking about and are just casual. Gamers. All your suggestions are not needed in this game
For this game like Tokyo Xtreme Racer, it's just racing, beating rivals and repeat. Doesn't have drift races. Previous games in the TXR series have side games, like Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 1/2, where you can drift through the touge road
F&F Tokyo Drift on the PS2 is still one of my favorite racing games of all time. This game really captures the feel of that. I hope the devs increase the map size with more of the city besides just the highway. Drifting around on empty mountainside roads was some of the best parts of F&F.
so apparently there's a trademark dispute with Genki & Throwback Entertainment, whose currently owns Crave, ex-owners of TXR IP This is one such cases I personally would encourage to sail through the seas if this whole dispute won't have no end in sight
"Playing incessantly", is this a correct thing to say? incessant means continuation of something unpleasant, yet here he praises the game. I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about.
me too, Wreckreation made by the og burnout devs (Three Fields Entertainment) doesn't seems to be all that promising tbh especially since we haven't get anything new about that game so much, I worry it could've been ended up being another solar crown on our hands with this lvl of communications (or complete lack thereof)
i prefer these type of games over hyper-realism racers.. it brings me back to when racing was fun like daytona usa and ridge racer..
Ridge Racer Intro music is core memory

OG Need for Speed Underground games

i used to love project gotham
Oh yes this game was the most played game I had on Dreamcast . Was just so addictive
Project Gotham was great, only the soundtrack got very boring at some point. Probably still the best Racer on Dreamcast tho.
Ah yes...

@@renashi0127exactly, the shake is part of the game feel
No mention in this review of in-car camera. Can you drive from inside the car? And can I use a wheel?
In car they don't need it. Genki is still small team btw, although there is a VR that someone find a way to get into in-car camera, but no detailed interior, mind you
No you can't. No interior view. Handling is bad as well. I can't recommend this game. It has really bad camera shake in 3rd person as well.
there looks like an interior view.. just saw a popular vtuber stream it a few hours ago

@@Krampus6-1-6 And how exactly is the handling bad at all? It's perfectly straightforward and driveable.
There’s 1vs2 battles as well, but I noticed you guys are only using the starter cars in the video so you’ve probably not gotten that far yet
there's also a 1v3 battle too
@ oooo, good to know. I’m only about 10 hours in so far thanks to Ninja Gaiden and Rebirths rereleases

You didn't discuss one of the best and most important things about the game... The car roster. I'm guessing you're not really that into cars?
"Tokyo. Extreme racer is an arcade experience " enough said, sold
MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!
me too
Import Tuner Challenge remastered 🥹
more like, a follow-up/sequel after game
never knew this game exist..used to play wangan maximum tune at local arcade
When is the next update? I'm waiting for honda to be updated into the game especially the integra and civic
i started with the ps2 TXR: 0 back in the day had no clue this even exist and found out on steam store page on Thursday racing back baby.
Any Steamdeck support?
Yes there is.
And it's really smooth
Loved the first two titles, then forgot about the series. Probably gonna get this one here, as well as Japanese Drift Master.

Same. My thoughts exactly.
Lol, they don't know that the base game has always been like this. I'm glad for this new installment and that the core is still the same 🙆♀️
Genki has been my favoriate game company on PSP, I can't believe that they come back to gaming industry on Steam.
CONSOLE WHEN
With the full release of the game, think they are aiming for a summier release
It is already fun.
wait theres no street circuits? its literally just the rival challenge from nfs u2... thats basically no gameplay content
This is literally what txr is
Looks cool. If it comes to console, I’ll probably check it out. My PC is from 2010, and I have no plans to upgrade it.
It should be able run on ur pc Bc this game was released back in 2003-2006. Graphics aren’t redone to crazy
What plat form this is for
I played Zero and 3 and I will be buying this one in about 6 days. Just needs a different camera angle.
How does this game compare to Midnight Club LA?
@ 0:59 “So that was a fucking lie.”
Japan hm? will have drift based races? and now you may know my favorite fast and furious

The camera shake needs to be removed completely. Unplayable for me.
No
Tbh... i found it okay? I get used to the shit camera like these
I quite like it to be honest. It got drama effect & make races more intense for me

It also means in an unceasing manner : without interruption or relief : continually
🎉
Looks boring af
Surprisingly refreshing trust me
this game looks boring without enough track variation
fr, they do need to expand into the C2 route, and also bring back Shibuya, Yaesu & Yokohama
Sounds perfect for a sale purchase.
This game looks like to be a boring one
