@@lawrencericho3635 I know, I wrote that this morning as I was waking and, um, baking. Once I really thought about it, I realized it was more like 500k+. The costumes alone probably cost 100 grand, and that's only because SNL knows how to do things on a tight budget.
So incredibly unexpected. And they recreated that scene so well. Also, she's barely aged! I honestly thought at first that they were just using footage from the film.
Absolutely. And all the stuff that was cut from dress rehearsal. Because they tape dress rehearsal too, and have a live audience for them. So those sketches exist, and have never been seen by anybody except the members of that one live audience. They should release those sketches. No matter how bad they are.
@@nixl3518🙂The electruction was only an example. People watch gore all the time, but as soon as it reminds us that something REAL like that has happened, suddenly it's a problem. My dad died from cancer. Should I sue SNL, every time they mention the illness? 😀 (I won't, and I find good cancer jokes funny)
They probably cut this skit because either (1) due to the 2:13 part that may look similiar to the recent tragedy in Germany or (2) due to the time constraint to show this skit during the live broadcast
If they post it on youtube, that means it was meant to air, but they couldn't because of time. Because they always have a lot of sketches that never see the light of day. The dress rehearsal is over 2 hours long. So every week they're cutting 30-40 minutes of sketches that will never see the light of day. I think the reason they posted this one online, was because they fully intended to air it, but a few of the sketches went longer than expected. It looks like they spent a lot of money on it, and they got a celebrity cameo for it. So they didn't want this to go to waste.
I think we all knew it would be a repeat of the gory af sketch about a minute in. Diminishing returns. BUTTT... the Lucy Liu bit was a very very welcome surprise.
Wow, if I had a nickel for every SNL skit featuring Martin Short as a former humbug who accidentally starts murdering everyone... I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice!
imagine spending like 30 hours getting everyone into costume for this, then it gets cut for time. I want these snl editors to supervise me at the casino, because they are immune to the sunken cost fallacy.
If you heard the news recently from Magdeburg, Germany after a tragedy at a Christmas market, you get the idea why the legal department stopped this from going to air.
I guess this makes it the second time Martin Short played an iconic Christmas grump whose redemption turned into an accidental bloodbath on this show That Max is definitely one of the better takes on his design
It should be a crime to cut a sketch featuring Lucy Lui in a silk kimono 👘🙌
Have you ever tried not being a weirdo?
@@chand911 Have you tried developing a personality?
Actually a double crime. They cut a sketch of her cutting 🗡️ a very sketchy Grinch ...which is itself a crime 🚔
@@DashingPartyCrasher You're probably right.
@@RobeLifeMusic so easily offended....
I can't believe they got Lucy Liu to cameo on a sketch just to cut it. At least it's alive on the internet.
Cut for blood maybe?
I have to wait until Sunday morning.
This didn't air? It's a masterpiece! 😱😖👍
Nobody's watching tv anymore, anyway.
It Sunday Morning Recorded. 😀
Nothing is “alive” on the internet: dig? Dug:
The moment I thought "doesn't he sound like he does in the Christmas Carol sketch?" I should've known
I can't believe they spent like 50 grand on a cut sketch
shiiiiiiiiiiiii...50?

Probably closer to $1-2M
ok NOW Lucy needs to appear as host next episode or year sometime
THE LUCY LIU CAMEO OHMYGODD
So incredibly unexpected. And they recreated that scene so well. Also, she's barely aged! I honestly thought at first that they were just using footage from the film.
@@NEShervyeah she's still got it.
So unexpected!!
@@NEShervWhat do you mean? Was Lucy Liu even in the real Grinch movie? 🤔
Hot dang Lisa looks so good i 1st thought they were using footage from Kill Bill 😍😍😍😍😍
You got *THE* Lucy Liu for a sketch and then cut it?! Lorne Michaels, you’re on my list 😤
I’ll be honest, it seems like SNL is forever chasing the glory of that Dead Poet’s Society parody
Animations keeps coming back and gets even funnier! I love this!
I know a Sarah Sherman sketch when I see one
She watched way too much Happy Tree Friends as a kid
He was an excellent Grinch.
Sherman has her bloody prints all over this short.
There should be a Channel on TH-cam only for "Cut for Time Sketch".
Absolutely. And all the stuff that was cut from dress rehearsal. Because they tape dress rehearsal too, and have a live audience for them. That "please, tell me it's actually Lucy Liu" moment.
God 3 seconds in and I wish Martin Short was actually cast as the Grinch. Plays it 100%
Jim Carrey played it better
Jim Carry was awful. Martin Short WOULD have been the best choice.
@@TheCoolTube Nobody could play the Grinch like Jim Carrey. He was objectively the best for the Grinch.
@@TheCoolTube With the physical comedy, the facial expressions, and the voice. Nobody could do all of those. He brought the cartoon character to life.
Maybe I’m biased but I’m honestly not the biggest fan of Jim Carrey
he did say if they were horribly mangled, there will be no sad faces on Christmas😂
Anothr year, another round of blood filled Christmas shenanigans with Martin Short. 😅
It's a Christmas tradition!
Twenty years later and Lucy still kills it as O-Ren Ishii, even in Whoville.
i'm sure sarah sherman wrote this
You can always tell her sketches. Have you seen the. stuff she did for Cartoon Network?
@@AshaSelfsDemoFilmswas about to say, this is giving Adult Swim lol.
The SECOND I heard about this and Lucy Liu’s respective cameo on SNL’s Reddit page, I was instantly PRAYING for SNL to post this on TH-cam!
no same i came straight away
there's an snl reddit page??
I love how Lucy Lui Who doesn't even have the Who nose or anything else that would make her look Seuss-ish! It's literally just Lucy Lui in the flesh!
Congratulations Marty on becoming the first to play both The Grinch and the Cat in the Hat
I see why it was cut. The sleigh through the crowd joke right after what happened in Germany.
What happened in germany 😂😂😂

Lucy Liu Who lmfaoooo great work
This sketch was better than The Mean One...horrible horror movie.
I do love Lucy Liu coming in to finish off the Grench.
The Kill Bill reference was pure gold!
Quentin Tarantino is gonna wake up tomorrow convinced he dreamt the perfect idea for a new film.
Since this had something to do with kill bill it would have been nice to see SZA kill the grinch but I guess legends never die
They probably cut this skit because either (1) due to the 2:13 part that may look similiar to the recent tragedy in Germany or (2) due to the time constraint to show this skit during the live broadcast
They cut it because it's not funny

Oh yeah you're probably right. That was a good call tho. It would've been wierd if they aired it literally right after.
@DDGenes if anyone was stopping them from airing things that aren't funny they would only be able to release around 8 minutes of content a year
I'd say what happened in a Christmas market in Germany.
When does this movie open cause its the best grinch version yet😂😂😅
Martin Short + Christmas + Buckets of Blood = Extremely funny sketch
Disgusting IMO!! Which is why they cut it! It went too, too far!!
@@nixl3518 I agree, Cut for time , my ass. That was delightfully over the top with an R rated blood bath. I loved it .

I hope that cast from the 2000 grinch stole christmas will react to this
That was HELLA badass...the Grinch expected _mercy_ from Lucy Lui?! _my sides_
LUCY LIU WHO IM SOBBING

This reminds me a lot of that one scene in the Boys with Andrew Rannells.
funny seeing bowen playing the mayor
Oh my God that sent south so fast 1:18

Viper kills The Cat in The Hat
There's nothing like hearing PBS Cat in The Hat voice in a bloody Grinch sketch. Yikes, I can see why this was cut.
Wow, no feet in the trailer. Is Tarantino turning over a new leaf?
SKIT OF THE NIGHT

It's happened way too many times for them to worry about it. :D
How many times can they rip off a Monty Python skit premise?
This is too good to be a sketch
Alternative Title: "How The Grinch Accidentally Became Homicidal on Christmas"
Not enough feet in the frame, I say it's not a true Tarantino movie.
Lucy Lui killin it, watch out for the Black Mamba
Lucy Lui!
You simply don't cut Lucy Liu for time!
It wasn't 'cause of time! Content was extreme! You're just inured to it!

Lucy Liu still looks the same after 21 years
Love the Lucy Liu cameo but also shoutout to Chris Parnell's voice cameo! Jerry's voice is recognizable anywhere
Scrooge and grinch are diffrent but they hate Christmas, changed their ways ar the end...in SNL Parody's They accidently kill someone
Chloe and Sarah are made to be Who's from Whoville

I have never liked Lucy Liu...ever...until this very moment.
Reminds of the Steve Martin Scrooge sketch... Looks like a "Bloody Christmas" tradition is in the works.
I don't understand why they cut this skit. I get time constraints but it's fucking hilarious and is better than most of the skits from that episode!
