    Stunning landscapes and challenging route. The small villages seemed quite nice. Glad you had a good time. Hope to see more bike camping episodes. Filming, editing and music were outstanding.

    Good to see you in my neck of the woods mate, I grew up in Whitby so its always nice to see it on film. I can recommend Altura panniers for when you decide to ditch the back packs, no wonder your backsides were hurting ;) Great vid, thank you.

      +Haze Outdoors Thanks for watching mate. I’ve been looking at the Alpkit bikepacking kit but didn’t want to commit to spending a fortune until we’d done that first trip out :-) thankfully the backside recovered quickly and I’m ready for the next adventure on 2 wheels. All the best. Dean

    Welcome to Yorkshire Dean, big fan of your channel and it makes me want to visit the Peak District. Then you go and post this!...my homeland, I suppose what I’m saying is, we have a beautiful country don’t we?...just wish people would take the time to appreciate it. All the best..look forward to more.

      +Viper Thanks for watching mate, we certainly do live in a beautiful country. We passed through so many varied landscapes in such a short space of time. Forests -> Moorland -> Coastal.

    That was a very different and an enjoyable watch, you can’t beat some of these old railway lines for keeping you off the roads. Can’t blame you for ending up in the pub I had a feeling that was going to happen when you mentioned having a drink, just too much temptation in my eyes and who could blame you.
    A great video, food for thought.
    Regards
    James

    Awesome! A frame bag and biggest seat bag you can manage will take weight off your back to reduce the dreaded ring sting

  • @lincolndave1966able
    @lincolndave1966able 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Another great video Dean, and I watch most of yours. Top tip learnt from bike packing the hard way myself, pack your kit on the bike as the weight of a rucksack on your back lent over the bars will give you backache. It also adds to your own weight bearing down onto a sadle and its no fun on the old buttock region. I've found bike packing helps me squeeze in more precious outdoor adventures and wild camping time in my time poor life. Keep up the great and entertaining videos, they are a joy.

  • @DownHillCol
    @DownHillCol 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Massive respect Dean for cycling on some of those paths on your road bike! I’ve done some off road on mine and it’s not fun! Also Kudos for cycling for 4 days with a backpack on! When I packed all my gear in my backpack for that overnight camp at the Bushcraft Forrest it was bad enough let alone 4 days of it! I promptly ditched the backpack idea and ordered a load of bikepacking gear LOL not had chance to use it yet though 😭 look forward to the next one 😃👍

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DownHillCol Thanks for watching Col, I must admit I probably would have been better off on my MTB on this trip :-) Really enjoyed it though and I’d definitely like to do more but I’ve been putting off spending a fortune of the kit. I’d like a full Alpkit bikepacking setup but it costs so darn much to get quality kit and I have other financial priorities at moment (bloody kids 😃) It would definitely help the posterior to transfer some of the weight of my back and on to the bike though. Hope your well mate, catch you again soon. Dean

    As always Dean a truly wonderful watch and listen and the magic of that fire was well, magical lol. I have been thinking of getting out more on the bike and bike camping like I used to do when I wuz a boi so thank you for the inspiration to attempt that again. Happy wandering. Paul :)

    Log fire - can't go wrong. I haven't watched for ages Dean but the bike packing really did intrigue me. It was nice to hear your voice again to be honest. I've missed you I guess. Love them sweeping rides - as you say exhilarating. I see it's popular for riders - that's good. All round a fabulous trip. Take care and all the best. Mark

    • @RandomButtonPusher
      @RandomButtonPusher 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'll chime in, Mark, with agreement on the attraction of a log fire (and a bed) in the face of bad weather - oh heck, even in good weather. Inn to inn looks like a promising approach for this route.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey there Jeff. Yeah a good way to go with the fire and a good way to travel. Inn to Inn. A cosy time...Hope you're well. Mark

      @DeanRead  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Wye Explorer Thanks for watching Mark, we couldn’t resist the call of the open fire. It’s nice to have extra comforts at times, I love camping but if I did this trip again in any season but summer I’d go from YHA to YHA :-) Stevo and I have another trip in the pipeline too which may follow a similar pattern. Hope you are well, All the best. Dean

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Random Button Pusher Thanks for watching mate. A warm and dry place to sleep is becoming more attractive these days rather than rough it in the cold, wet and dark :-) It was more of a social adventure so really enjoyed relaxing and chatting in the pub with Stevo, we don’t see enough of each other due to life’s complications. All the best. Dean

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A pleasure to watch Dean. Yes the YHA establishments. People forget they're there. I suspect the new trip will be a good one. As far as I'm concerned I've had the hardest year - I lost my dear twin brother Paul and very nearly never made that one but I'm still here and hiking and watching great adventures like this. Take care.

    Bikes loaded up, open roads, tracks, hills and sea with a few pubs along the way - down hill at times and burning calories - what could be better! Liked the fast paced video, felt like a real journey but without the sore rear end haha... oh and " not a bad view at all that".. ATB Stephen.

The Derwent Valley Heritage Way should feature your hike there as promotional material.

    great video, i think i might have to factor a trip to some of the places in this video for next years bikepacking, usually do wales / snowdonia, but fancy the yorkshire moors......might even see a werewolf ;-) 1 tip for ya though, get yerself one of those 'grey" /plasticy bike covers from the £1 shop, works great for keeping most of the drizzle etc off the bike...and when it gets too oily etc..well its only cost a quid, so can dispose of it.
