Received mine today here in Mumbai, India, and cannot hold myself back from looking at it over and over again - beautiful design, stellar display and awesome bracelet - it's all there. As a Casio fan, and a watch collector, I couldn't be happier! The best digital watch money can buy. Period. This is made in Japan bottom up, and the build quality completely justifies the price.

Weirdly, after collecting Casio & Gshocks for years, I've just purchased my first AE1200 Royale. I love it. Not so sure about this one, though, but appreciate that it's a part of watch making "history" I do agree with you that for the price tag Sapphire and 100 meters would be more appropriate. Great review, as always !!!
Good choice on the AE-1200, I'm wearing my one with the bracelet. Yes I agree with you about the sapphire and 100m, then it would be just right.

I love the look of the Casiotron but that price is way too spicy for me to think about. I’ve got my A171 to scratch the Casiotron itch for me but for someone who loves Casio and has the money in their watch piggybank then there’s loads to love here!

I picked up the DW5040 recently and it is now one of my favorite watches in my collection. I cannot stop looking at it. If you are thinking about getting one...go for it!!!

@@roodersclive8654 The gold sunburst display is like nothing else. It is mesmerizing. I can't stop looking at it. The brick motif is also fantastic. The fact it also has the electroluminescent backlight makes it very unique. There are others that have the stainless steel case and caseback but none have that display, brick motif and EL backlight. Oh that gold sunburst display!

The best review of the TRN50, epic, you nailed the positives and negatives. I just don’t see the need for BT and yes they should be making this so anybody can buy one….at a lower price!
Great video and love the passion!! Would have been nice if it was sapphire. I get it, limited anniversary edition driving the price up, but even if they changed another $50 for sapphire would be worth it.
Secondary comment. I have a solar Bluetooth full metal CasiOak, and live in Australia where we don’t get multiband 6, so using the Bluetooth to keep my time synced is a must.

No, no, no and no! If you told me it was £100-200, I'd get my head around it, but not at that price. Obviously we all knew you'd buy it, love it and keep it mate. It's much, much better than the PRX - so that's something, isn't it?
Lol buddy the Bluetooth is a horrible, useless feature. That really shouldn't be losing more than a second a month. My f84w actually hasn't lost a second in a year❤
I'm a big fan of Casio for decades and getting bigger (possibly due to the new restaurant at work) and I do like this watch. Yes it's expensive for what it is and yes it has a mineral glass but the temptation is well, extremely tempting. I remember when I was 'thinking' about the black Titanium square with the positive display and tried to ignore it........... it didn't work and I bought one at retail before it was gone. Do I regret it? My wallet did but I don't and I still wear it. We shall have to see as I really can't justify this new Casiotron at all, no really, well maybe just a little...... Thanks for sharing.

I picked up a Casio ACL-200 in new old stock condition and it’s very cool and interesting looking with an auto light
And wondered if you have or had one as I know nothing about this model as I’ve never seen one until now
I wasn’t expecting to like it but the radial finishing and the texture behind the Casiotron logo got me - still wish more surfaces were brushed and that it had a greater over water resistance but definitely not like Tissot’s cash-grab at all.

A171WE-1A for the round one (battery powered but under 1/10th of the price of the new limited one) - or if you want the cheapest model with solar/multiband etc - then the M5610u@@goatreviews
I think I would try carefully cutting out some silver vinyl rap and putting it inside an A1700, before I would spend that kind of coin on digital watch, with a rather small display.
This was made available yesterday in the Canadian market and is still available. Surprised as it sold so fast in the UK market.
Love the side by side comparison. This way I can really judge the size of the digits compared to other models, which is great for online purchases (not that this watch is still available, but the others are in their non-limited variations)
Looks great but I couldn't justify the price of admission even if I could get hold of one. Shall make do with my black A171 (with the hair friendly mesh strap) for Casio roundness.

The answer to "why no sapphire" is "because these are selling at lightspeed anyway", but I sure wish it had a sapphire crystal.
Nice review but the 50 m wr, limited edition and the fact that the price is too high it’s not worth it.
My dad inherited me the original one, and that one I never wear. I love it as a keepsake, but somehow I always find better watches to wear. Maybe not my cup of tea, but I found an F91 display much more pleasing with a form factor that's much less blingy.
$999 here in Australia. Sold out on the Casio site. Oh, and funny video again mate 😂

At first I thought “what kind of person would spend $500 on this watch”. Then 5 minutes later I ordered one. 😁
Worth noting that the original Casiotron you showed in 1:06 is actually not the original version that this new re-issue is based on. That's the second generation with "liquid crystal" written on the dial. Whereas the original released version looks very close to the re-issue (similar dial colour)
I absolutely love it, if only I had the cash, that would make my Casio watch collection increase by one million percent.

The Casiotron's price was too high for my liking, so I bought a A171 for under £30 😁

I love that the bracelet, though well-made, is still jangly like a normal casio. I love this watch.

Finally, a full featured, full metal digital Casio that is not a G-Shock. Sure, $500 is a bit high, but as they only make 4000 of them, Casio will barely recover the cost of development and tooling for a new case, a new bracelet, and a new module. I doubt they make a profit on this one.
Casio produces bracelets like these in their Oceanus line, the titanium one on my OCE-T4000 is the most comfortable bracelet I own. I do like Casio’s Bluetooth implementation, it stays out of the way but keeps your clock synchronized and all the time zones you set on your watch corrected for daylight saving time. Multiband 6 is clever, but I have to put the watch in a window to get a reliable signal, and with Bluetooth it syncs on my nightstand.
Because of your enthusiasm for Casio and because you are the Mad watch collector I think you had to get this watch if for no other reason than principle.
I think it's a stunning watch and excellent review.
The price is fair for a limited edition collector. For the features, obviously not. If they made a similar watch at a non-collector price point, they might have a winner because it is refreshingly retro.
I gave in and bought a "bigger small" Casio, the W800 . Opened the box and decided it would only be big on a small hobbit
.. at least it was cheap. Back to GShock for me.
What a coincidence!! I just bought an original vintage Casiotron (red ring around dial) from local online sales (for around $20 price) . Now on the way.
Casio is the brand for me it is the quality, design,style,look,worth,solid,functions, features and life span of this all models of casio watches are the best in the digital watches because in my 90s I wore the watch after several years again now 2024 I started wearing casio A168 but copy I could get original Japan made watch not only casio also I love my favourite Seiko,orient,citizen,kueo,Alba these are all my watches I love the most untill world ends casio casio casio casio Seiko seikoseikoseikoseikoseiko citizen citizen citizen citizen orient orient orient orient Alba alba alba ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ casio thank you Japan technolgy also yamaha bikes

The PRX digital is my favorite watch in ages. It’s the best digital watch I’ve ever owned and it gets 10x more wrist time than my full metal square.
For what it is, I genuinely think it’s worth the money. The only thing I don’t like is all the polished surfaces. Thanks for showing it to us!
I don't agree. Especially when you compare it to other Casio watches. My GMW B5000d can do everything this can and it 200m water resistant I paid about half of the Casiotron for it.

This is 100% one of those sort of watches that is driven by social media but quickly gets lost and forgot about once the next new shiny thing comes along. That is, right now we'll see plenty of scalping and horse trading, but in a year there will be hundreds of them sitting around on eBay for MSRP'ish prices and nobody will want one.
Why didn't they make 50,000 for people around the world...get the price down..and spread the love... Remake one of their melody watches that's what ,ll take us back in history...
It looks good, but i really don't understand why screwed links in the bracelet are in any way better than pin and collar.
Pin and collar is used by Seiko, Citizen and Casio in a whole load of bracelets, it can be adjusted with a set of pliers and a paperclip.
Screws need a thicker link and sometimes locktite to keep the screw in. I never needed that for a pin and collar link, and i never lost any pin.
the BT function is godsend for those outside the MB6 range. btw, if ever Casio release it again, i won't miss it!
If you can sing the praises of this watch then the Tissot prx digital is no different. I’ll grant the Casio has more features but the design is near similar.

Casio have definitively shown Tissot (everyone) how to make a digital watch.
Overall great design... Casio should focus now on TW-7000 and TW-7100 revival
I've seen two reviews of these, both also have GMW-B5000's, and both said the caseback might not be solid steel because of the MB6...which is not the case. The GMW-B5000's have solid casebacks and MB6. It's just a visual design choice.
Great video, I like the finishing on this watch, but they could use sapphire for the price. I like my full metal g-shock GMW-B5000D-1ER, the bracelet is easier to adjust with the sprinbars. Last month I bought the GWG 1000 - 1A3ER first generation mudmaster for only 300 euro. I like casio watches but I'm not a collector, I use my g-shocks at work and the full metal g-shock is all about scratches. So this casiotron is not for me.
there is a watch for everyone, this one is just not for me by a long shot. If you like it, well thatsall that matters.
The first Casio i owned i bought in 1978, digital of course,it looked as my memory recalls tho more like the A171 ! Am i tripping? Was there a Casio resembling the a171 in the 70's that wasn't the casiotron? F**k please help me on that one,o bought the a171 because that's the one I think 🤔 i remember! But now I'm not sure.

What were they thinking with the mineral glass on a limited edition, once in a blue moon reissue that costs Swiss automatic money? It's kind of a bummer for whoever managed to pick one up.

I love CASIO-watches. I own quite a lot of them. I think the CASHIOTRON looks amazing, but I don't see it justifying its price tag. When it comes down to anniversaries CASHIO seems to often to just cash out on limited editions.

12mm is way too thick, and no sapphire plus only 50m water resistance is a crime at this price.
I'm glad that you mentioned the A171 - not only the best alternative to the Casiotron (or PRX Digital for that matter) but probably the most underrated model in Casio's Vintage collection. Not only is it 16x cheaper than the TRN-50. It is also 25% slimmer, has basically the same water resistance and a design that is retro but modern at the same time.
I think the thickness adds the character to this one my friend. It really works. I’m disappointed with the WR and the mineral glass
They did a fantastic job on this release but I do wish they hadn't made it a limited edition. It just encourages the flippers. They're already all over ebay. The usual nonsense. As far as the App goes, the one feature that;'s very useful is the time sync. For those who dont have access to atomic time servers

Good review! Enjoy it. I considered it, but while I was debating the price, I missed my chance. Just as well. I really think it is about $200 too much. I could see paying $300 for one, but not $500. Here is a funny coincidence, when I showed it to my wife, she told me it was $200 overpriced, so we agree on that! 😝

They’re honoring their history. I get it. But…yeah…it is as visually unappealing as the PRX digital. For the same reason - the whole “square peg in a round hole” theme. If it makes you happy, though, then wear it and enjoy it!
I like Casio because they are “inexpensive” the other day I was at the mall and saw a G-Shock for $900. I don’t understand who’s buying a $900 Casio? To me you’re better off buying a Hamilton for that price. Casio needs to stick to what they are good at. Inexpensive watches.
But some people want the iconic design in a more premium stainless build.
That’s almost as good as a PRX! The water resistance lets it down a bit but they’ll get it right next time. Just kidding, I love this watch. I also love my PRX digital but that’s ok, there’s space for everyone. 😊

It's odd the first Casio watch looked nice and since then although technically great they are not as aesthetically pleasing until the B2100
I think if you have the money to spend, why not. It looks alright to me, but of course the price makes no sense but often the way with limited editions. It will probably be worth a fortune at some point.
Like the case definitely premium but the LCD screen is disappointing.
Wish they did a better job, there’s certainly a lot of dead space on the sides perhaps a round or angled screen.
