  • Texas A&M freshman Athing Mu not only blew out the field in the women's 400m, but set a new collegiate record with a time of 49.57. Athing Mu is one of the superstars in NCAA women's track and she's expected to run the 800 as she goes to the U.S. Olympic trials and tries to make the U.S. Olympic team in the 800m race.

Kyra Constantine had a good run. We’re the same age so I used to see her at meets all the time back in high school in Ontario. That girl used to dominate, and she’s set multiple records for different events. Used to remember her sweeping the 1,2,400m every meet. Obviously the girl was going places. I hope she's training with the boys at Texas A&M. Unfortunately, the women on her team can't give Athing Mu any competition. Her first experience of being challenged should not happen during the Olympics trying out for the 800m. She should know what it feels like to have someone walk you down, as that's how you make adjustments on your form and get faster. Ajee Wilson, Caster Semenya...both stiff competition and she should be prepared...don't think she's fast enough right now. Ajee runs a 1:56 on 800m

The female commentator say Mu speaks well. Ummm...what? Is she not supposed to speak well? Why is that even part of the conversation?

Mu does speak well compared to most 19 year olds or even 40 year olds. She made some of the best, most well spoken comments out of all the meet interviews. What is wrong with the commentator acknowledging that undeniable fact?

I hate when someone says a Black person "speaks" well. This has happened so many times in my career. I have never heard a White person being referred to as speaking well. What is the alternative or better yet what did you expect?!?
