    I have a 2019 Ram with 5.7 and i did the trans fluid at 70k and put a deep pan on it that holds 2 extra quarts and it wasn't hard and it runs cooler now with the extra fluid. I tow and haul a fair amount so i wanted to change it. Love your videos and hope she keeps going strong brother!!!

    My wife had a 2019 1500 Laramie that she put 145k miles on and only replaced the exhaust manifolds and some bushings in the front suspension. It was a great truck. She just got a new 2024 limited, hopefully it’s as good a truck as her last one.

    This is obviously an e-Torque powertrain. Thats the only reason your brake pads lived beyond 100K. Also a great feature of the e-Torque platform is that it rev matches shifts. So every upshift or downshift the 48V motor spins up the crankshaft or slows it down to exact match the input speed to the ZF8HD transmission. This means you are never slipping clutches to change gears. It’s no surprise to me you could go 1/4 million miles with this transmission since it rarely ever spins clutches. It is basically a power shift transmission since the engine is doing all the RPM adjustments.
    Brakes are great because it uses the 48V motor to “grab” the crankshaft when you slow down. Regenerating the energy back into the battery instead of using friction & heat to slow you down.
    The rear pad will wear out first on a vehicle like this. It’s common. The stability control and other downhill stability “nanny’s “ utilize the rear brakes all the time without you knowing it. Cruise control, stop & go, and other nice features only use the rear brakes to control the vehicle to prevent lockup or sideways sliding during automated cruise.
    Basically, if you have e-Torque the front brakes only apply under heavy load or emergency stops.
    It’s an awesome system really. I owned a ‘21 limited for awhile and this is what I experienced. At 106,000 miles the front brakes were still like new.

      Look man if you buy ram, gm, or ford, and take care of it. They are all reliable. You would be shocked at how many people run there cars 50k miles and don't change their oil, and then complain when things start breaking. Its not a small number of people.

    • @johnappleseed9290

      It’s quality control. American manufacturers (GM, Ford, Buick, Chevy) are notorious for their unreliability. Statistically there seems to be more problems with RAM, Chevys and ford Post Covid. Yes I am aware this is a 2019, and I am not saying there are no solid American trucks out there that can outperform, what I am saying is that the numbers don’t lie. Where am I getting these numbers from? JD power is a great source. They have a year to year reporting on reliability score and the reasons why “said” brand truck is failing. More commonly RAM seems to rank on the bottom half of least reliable. Where is JD power getting these numbers from? I can’t say 100% for sure where but I am willing to bet a good amount is from the consumer. I will not 100% for sure that’s where it’s from.

    I'm a bit biased towards Chevy/GMC trucks BUT I'm always happy to hear when people get good mileage out of their respective trucks/cars/vans. Vehicles in general cost too much these days so the longer you can run your vehicle and not experience major failures is a big win.

    Nothing wrong with tossing some cash into an old vehicle that you have no payment on. People will happily toss $1K+ a month on a vehicle, or worse do 5-8 year or longer loans on a vehicle, but they'll scoff at someone with an old vehicle that they have to put $1-3K into once a year. I bought my '24 Laramie straight out because I paid off my 2014 Big Horn in 4 years, and saved my payments into another account for 6 years. If you can't afford a vehicle comfortably on a 36 month loan, it is too much vehicle for you. I've put 200k plus on my last 3 RAM's and no doubt I'll be able to do the same with this one.

    No such thing as lifetime fluid. Dont change it too often (never flush), but change it regularly. Our 22 3.6L ZF will get changed every 60k miles per ZF. Jeep scoffed and gave us the lifetime change spiel but they only read whatthe pc tells them. Chrysler has determined that the failure rate is acceptable on the favtory oil for te "lifetime" of the transmission. Theyve determined 100k is fine on the factory oil and dont want you to open it up. You know what else happens at 100k miles? Their responsibility to you for the drivetrain. No, I dont accept their approved failure rate sub 100k. We will go with ZFs recommendations of 60k miles.

Regarding the 8hp70, I'd probably change the fluid but save the old stuff incase you do run into issues with new fluid. On average 15,000 to 20,000 miles a year is normal, so being that you have a 2019 with 240,000 miles of course things are going to start breaking and deteriorating. Of course things are going to start diminishing in its value. I understand people travel and probably get paid to travel so put some of that pay towards your vehicle. Now whether that be oil changes, tuneups, etc, always consider what your vehicle does for you and do more in return for your vehicle.

    Mileage is one thing, age is another, I'd be interested to know how these trucks will hold up when they are 10 years old or more, I don't think the electronic gizmos will be doing so well by then, and that goes for any modern vehicle. The older I get the more I want something OLD that doesn't have all the electronic CRAP on it. I have a 96 Dakota with 200k miles that I hope to get running again soon.
    I used to really like Dodge, but have had a bad experience with a 2016 Durango needing a CAMSHAFT replaced at less than 130k miles. Pentastar engines have lifter arm failure, the HEMI tick is a well known issue. The new Demons are eating themselves. I just have no confidence in the long term reliability of FCA/Stelantis products. As my dad says, it's a shame Chrysler isn't Chrysler any more.

    Age is harder on a modern vehicle than mileage. The reason all of your electronics work is because the truck is 5 years old. It's interesting that you have gotten so many miles out of it. Shoot I would change the trans fluid. I have a '97 Ram 1500 with a 360 V8 auto and it has 297,500 miles on it so far with the original engine and trans. When I first got it the trans fluid was dirty and giving me trouble. I watched a video on TH-cam on how to flush the trans fluid. So I done it and then I put a can of Trans X and a can of Lucas Trans Fix in it and that was almost 10 years ago. Oh the truck had 192,000 miles on it then. Then I changed the fluid and filter about 8 years ago now or close to that. Then I flush out about a gallon of trans fluid and put a new can of each of the other stuff in it, I flush it out about every 30,000 miles or so many months. So far I've put 105,000 mile on the truck myself. Plus I put an external trans cooler on it, I don't think that the radiator trans cooler is enough to keep the trans fluid cool, now the truck has 2 external trans coolers on it and so far so good. If you don't take care of them they won't last, but if you just change the fluids regularly then they will. Not sure how long my truck will last but time will tell.

    • @MrJustinWheeler
      @MrJustinWheeler 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What kind of trouble was the trans giving you before you fixed it? I've got a 98 Ram 1500 with the 5.2 and its got shifting problems. Would be nice if I could just flush it vs replacing the whole tranny.

    • @theramquest4advanture.
      @theramquest4advanture. 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was changing slowly and then it didn't want to change, like it was stuck in 1st. One thing was that it wasn't slipping or didn't seem like it was slipping. Like I said I first flushed the trans fluid of an old Escort I had before I done my truck. After I flushed the trans out on the car it started to change and run better, so I done it to my truck. I took a trans line loose and put a hose on it and put the other end of the hose in a bucket. As the old fluid came out I poured the new fluid in. Until it got out the amount I wanted to get out of it. I done a gallon of trans fluid, also I put a can of Trans X and a can of Lucas Trans Fix in the trans first before adding the new trans fluid. I would check the level of fluid as I went along. Once I had a gallon of trans fluid out of it and it was back to full on the dipstick. I drove it up the road and it took a few times but it started to change better and then over time I flushed it out a few more times and after 10 years and 105,000 miles it's still doing good for now.

    • @theramquest4advanture.
      @theramquest4advanture. 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Then after about 2 or so years of flushing the trans fluid out. I changed the fluid and filter on the trans. The filter look like it was new but I changed it anyways. After I got the new fluid in the trans and a can of each of the other stuff I said I put in it each time. I drove it up the road and it wouldn't shift at all. It wouldn't shift out of 1st gear and I was thinking, on damn I messed it up by changing it all. Then I pulled it down into 1st and manually changed the gears out. I done this about 4 or 5 times and it finally started to change on it's own. It was like it was learning to shift again. But never had it to do that when I flushed it out only when I changed it all out. Anyways not sure if it will work on any other truck but it has worked on mine. Plus it's worth a try, I mean if you can't drive it anyways now, it might work as long as it's not slipping. Still worth trying and hopefully it will turn out like mine did and give you over 100,000 miles of service. Also I wouldn't flush out more than a gallon of trans fluid at a time and don't forget the trans x and Lucas Trans Fix, a can of each. Or if you don't want to leave the truck running too long afraid of flushing too much. You can let a quart of fluid out shut off the truck, fill it back up. Or put in what you take out over time. Like I said it helped mine so far.

    • @theramquest4advanture.
      @theramquest4advanture. 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think with the dirty trans fluid it had some of the things in the trans stopped up and flushing it out over time cleaned it out and then it started to work right. So far it's doing good, drove it earlier today and it's still going strong. It just tripped to 297,610 miles, getting closer to the 300,000 miles mark. Not sure if it will make it but I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing and see how far it will go. I'll do an update video on it on my channel on here when I can. Just look up theramquest4advanger on here or I think that's it. I've got some more videos of my truck on there just nothing new yet. Anyways if you try flushing it out let me know how it works out and I hope the best for you.

      Usually a rule of thumb is people replace 2 sets of brakes in the front to rear brakes. I had to change mine at only 80 thou Kilometers. Way to premature. Mostly highway miles also. Dealership wouldn’t do nothing plus trying to charge double the price for pads and rotors. Dealerships are crooked. They quoted me $1200.00. All other shops charge $560.00 to $680.00. Plus the dealership wasn’t using OEM brakes. They wouldn’t even match other prices and my truck was under warranty. I will never go back to Jim Gautier dealership again.
