Used to be in it a little when Dregs and Sobe was big. A lot of niche decks came out, still have a couple left from pros I traded other decks for when I was a dealer. Best things to learn was how to make your own high resistance slide gloves using cutting boards riveted to garden gloves over wrist guards. Allowed for awesome high speed power slides.

If you want the definitive history of that era, get your hands on this recently published, "epic" retell of that storied era titled, "ARA's Untold Story - Skateboard Racing in the Rockies, Colorado 1975-1978." The book is 548 pages that's filled with over 500 photos that includes era business cards, posters, stats, quotes, quips and earthy mirth! The most renown pro from that era, Michael Williams (San Diego, CA), was the first to bring that Quicksilver sled to the Rockies when he showed up unannounced for ARA's 1977 Tour Opener in Boulder (CO), Saturday, 5/14/1977. Michael showed up in tow with Bobby Piercy (Turner SummerSki Pro, SHOF*), Tommy Ryan (Turner SummerSki Pro, SHOF) and Chris Smith (Turner SummerSki Amateur). [*SHOF Skateboard Hall of Fame] The book is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or me, the author, which I would gladly sign! Reach out!

Around my neighborhood in the late 70's many people had the Roller Derby 77K in yellow with red super hard poly wheels. And there was also the Free Former board in blue with a very bumpy surface that many people had. These were the 2 all up and down my street. Then the Motobecane Moped came along and our focus changed a bit . . .

You should check out the boards you can get now. You practically need an engineering degree to set them up.

To all the landyachtz nerds out there
I’m deciding between the drop cat or battle axe obv both 38. I want to not worry about hills, cruise comfortably and push for long distances, and be super controllable while still stable. I know they both have similarities but I need a longer board for distances than my dinghy. Anything helps
