- Weeks 6 of the XFL featured the Las Vegas Outlaws and the undefeated Orlando Rage. By now the ratings were at single digits and it was obvious America had tuned out halfway through the season.
In order to boost "ratings" Vince McMahon in his infinite "wisdom" decided to hatch up a stunt that proved to be nothing more than a cheap thrill. He had a cameraman named "Bruno" who was suppose to go into the Orlando Rage cheerleaders locker room and get "whatever" it is that they do in there. Well as you can imagine the NBC censors knew Vince wasn't going to be allowed to show nudity of any kind on network television.
It turned out that "Bruno" was knocked out cold after Vince threw him into the door. In the end "Bruno" wound up dreaming about being in the girls locker room.
There was a special cameo by the late Rodney Dangerfield.
Jesse Ventura said it best after the lame stunt aired. He said "I'll tell you, it's typical of Vince McMahon, anything he touches turns to you know what". Well said Jesse, well said.

I remember when the XFL folded. It was in the Press Enterprise it read, "XFL Folds after One Season" And it had a pic of Jesse Ventura on the bottom left hand corner and under his picture it read, "I don't care. I don't work for them anymore" LMAO! Hilarious

Ballad of Snow I think the Xfl could had been successful if vince would of treaded lightly at least for the first season. Just let the guys at NBC do the work and get your brand recognized. once you have done that then begin experimenting with skits and stuff but yeah it's a shame that we don't have the xfl today. it would be very interesting.

It's always a bad sign when a company/comedy anything starts to mock it's own failure. It may be tongue in cheek, but there is always alittle truth behind a joke. It is also an obvious sign of desperation, and the absolute WTF rediculocity of this "spoof" sketch was probably one of the final nails in the coffin for the poor XFL.
Looks like one of WWE programming's shitty segments. Stephanie probably had a hand in this.

michael forsythe You know you do have a point. I feel like people overshit on the Xfl when in reality it was a pretty big deal. A new brand to actually rival the nfl. Howerver Vince tried too hard to be different and in the end that ended the xfl before it could even find its footing.

This was Vince's effort to salvage the promotion after it had already lost most of its initial popularity.
When I was looking this failed league up, I came across comments from detractors like "They're not actually cheerleaders but they play them on tv." and " (The cheerleaders look like) Strippers moonlighting on the gridiron." ... The only place the XFL still exists is in movies/tv shows... Due to the fact that the studios don't have to pay anyone a fee to use the football game footage in their movie/tv show.

Ho-lee train-wreck. I remember watching this live thinking “good-bye XFL” . I knew from the beginning XFL was doomed to fail as soon as Vince stepped in front of the camera before the very first game. They should’ve kept the XFL completely separate from WWE . Vince didn’t do that and frankly I’m surprised they managed to even get the championship game in.
The last line from Jessie Ventura summed everything up. Yes…the XFL was “this bad”.

HAHA I remember this stupid shit, I remember coachman interviewing one of the cheerleaders about it leading up to it, and her saying "you'll just have to see" and walking away and then coach then closed his eyes and said to himself "I can't wait for the halftime show" in an eager voice, it was so cringeworthy and corny that I think I probably facepalmed right then and there and maybe said oh my god... hahaha seriously wtf, it was that stupid, they tried to turn football into the wwf, smh

At the time I was only 16 and even then I remember thinking this was the most pathetic thing I ever saw on television. This segment alone proved that Vince McMahon not only "lost it" by the turn of the century but questions whether or not he ever even had any real creativity at all.

The problem with the XFL was stunts like this gave a lot of fuel to the argument that the sport was predetermined. We all know wrestling is scripted, but football fans like me didn't want to watch fixed games.
