Doc, just a quick note about Anderson PGF Complete, I’ve used this product twice since I purchased. Each time I have the GEEENEST lawn on the block. My experience this should be applied right before a decent rain fall. You can apply and water it, but the rain elements are super charged to give your yard that natural green pop, with waters from the heavens. Thumbs up for PGF.
I was lucky enough to be able to get a bag of Humichar from the first production run. I only used half of it so I should be good for the next application. Next step for me will be the chicken feed. Can't wait to see the long term results.
I just started watching your videos. I also am in Georgia. Unfortunately I have neglected my yard for the 4-5 years we have been here. It sucks ,because I would love to have a beautiful yard. Unfortunately my budget, well there really isn't one. My wife says it's green ( just cut it). So slowly but hopefully a little at a time with cheapest stuff I can find LOL. hopefully I'll be able to make something work. Good luck to everyone else out there.
It would be great if you did a video of you visiting the Andersons Plant and show how they make products like PGF complete, Humichar, Super Juice, etc...Also it would be great if you sent out an email when the price of humichar has been reduced.
Hey Doc, just got my Humichar today and have everything else ready to go. Been watching your videos over and over on this application and i'm finding it difficult to breakdown how much of Humichar and everything to put out for the first application and was hoping you can double-check my numbers for a 3500 sq ft lawn being your application is based on a 17,000 sq ft yard. Hopefully, this will help other people as well. I'm looking at around 3/4 cup of super juice with 5 oz's of liquid iron and 1/4 tsp of the microbial pack, 8-10 lbs of Humichar, 25 lbs of organic and light application of the PGF complete. Sound good? I feel like you put down double the humichar on your first application but this video says different. I'll look for other videos as well. Thanks so much!!!
All sounds about right.... the only thing you really need to STRICTLY watch is your PGF. The other items really won't have a negative impact if over applied. (Maybe Iron, but you're keeping that real low) Humichar can NOT be over applied. We have tested WAY beyond bag rates. (Solid black ground) Apply PGF at the BAG RATE... every 3-4 weeks right now as it is the driving force of the GROWTH.
@@HowTowithDoc Thanks for the response. I realized when watching your video you were not treating the front of your house so I re-adjusted my numbers for 10,000 sq ft instead of 17,000 sq ft. My new numbers for my 3500 sq ft yard: 3/4 cup of super juice with 9 oz's of liquid iron and 1-2 tsp of the microbial pack, 14-15 lbs of Humichar, 35 lbs of the organic and light application of the PGF
Doc, I sincerely appreciate your videos and the knowledge you have shared! Can’t thank you enough. Would be really neat to see you dig into the soil to see the impact of Humichar you have applied so far. Just curious to see how deep the Humichar has penetrated up to this point. Keep up the good work!
Hey Doc. What brand are those glasses and where did you get them? Would they help with eye allergies due to hay fever? My sunglasses aren’t cutting it. Thanks.
I have St. Augustine grass with a drainage issue. So Humichar holding water sounds like it is contraindicated. I live in an HOA in Tampa and just in a small town home but with a decent small law in front and back but I have a fungus due to water drainage issues.
Does anyone know if the Poultry Crumble organic matter can be put down with a DROP spreader? I have a smallish sized yard and it's the only spreader I have.
Good morning. I live in CT and I am planning to grow a new lawn from seed. Is it a good time to apply Humichar while seeding? Should I also apply again after the lawn is established? Thank you in advance for all of your help. I greatly appreciate it.
I THINK for best results apply this right after airating and seeding, and sprinkle with loam or compost On top. And eventually a second humichar application. I did a similar thing last fall. I agitated, seeded, and mixed inoculated biochar into compost, and spread it out on my lawn. But make sure biochar is inoculated.
thore nux In HumiChar it has a 50/50 mix of humic acid and biochar. HumicDG aka humic acid, is still a great product for your lawn but it does not contain the biochar. If you are wanting to put down something healthy for your lawn, then put down the HumicDG. He has tons of videos about it last year and maybe year before as well. If you are just after the Biochar, then pass, because that’s not in the HumiChar.
DOC, can you give more explanation on why PGF complete is not great for Centipede. I'm using on my Centipede with great results. I want to use the Humichar when its available too. Thanks
Did you say that you put out two 40 lb bags of biochar. Each bag says it's for 40,000 sq ft. You said your lawn is 17,000 sq ft right. Can you clarify? Thank you!
Thank you, Doc. Your videos are very educational. I want a thick green lawn, I live in an urban city environment and have a 1000 sq ft lawn. I now have a patchy grass lawn with brown spots many weeds and grubs. What products should I start with?
What kind of burmuda do you have ? Im new at this grass care. I just planted some arden 15 in the back 1/3 of my back yard as a test, after digging up 300 cu ft by hand, mostly weeds. The other 2/3 thirds has enought regular Bermuda to work with. Front yard horrible, may kill that with round up. I do have low dog fence separating the arden from the regular Bermuda.i did amend the soil, a week now and i have a few little blades coming up. Not sure where im going with it next ! I got more ? coming at you later !
Hey Doc, since HumiChar continues to be unavailable, is there a similar product that I can use on my lawn? I found The Andersons Humic DG that is available right now on Amazon. Will that work until HumiChar is available?

What’s better leveling my lawn with top soil and putting humichar and pgf complete out. Or just putting humichar and pgf complete out? I just recently moved in a new home and it was built a year ago, it’s a bunch of red clay dirt in my lawn. So which solution is best?
I was worried I was going to have a yard full of crows or other birds after throwing down a bag of chicken feed in my yard but ended up not being an issue. Looking forward to trying humichar when I can get it.
Hey doc I bought (2) bags of The Andersons Organic Humic DG Granular Soil Conditioner (Humic Acid), 40lbs Bag. I know the difference is The Andersons HumiChar Organic Soil Builder with Humic Acid and BioChar, 40lbs has humichar and Biochar, so is this a replace formulated bag to replace the Andersons Organic Humic DG Granular Soil Conditioner (Humic Acid)? Do we have to use only the HumiChar/Biochar new mix only or both? I am trying to get everything to be able to put down after getting my lawn leveled this Saturday. I also have a large area that had topsoil sitting on an area that wasn't growing well, I leveled it out with the left over top soil. I was thinking about using Yukon to seed the area and the track mark area that has been fill and tossed with top soil. Any thoughts ?
Until humichar is available... you can put down some humic. But they do different things in the soil and yes, humichar will eventually replace humic dg.
Doc, I bought a new build house with sod lawn in the front and seed and straw in back. I feel I need more top soil in the back. Can I put Huimchar over the straw to help the soil?
I’m looking to replace my centipede for Bermuda next year. Right now I’m in the research phase. I know the majority of people don’t till up their lawn to apply Biochar to the root zone. Since I have the opportunity to do that, how much Humichar should I apply? Should I do extremely heavy Humichar application, 20 - 40 x bag rate, plus organic material and PGF complete. The Bermuda will be Yukon seed.
If you're tilling... apply 80 lbs per 5000 sq feet and spray heavy with SJ before tilling. Till in... then lay sod. The rest of the treatments are done later once sod has taken roots.
Ok Doc, ive gotten my list of products as your suggestions. But the one thing I cant figure out or find is for us in NC, whatvis the best or top 5 Bermuda grass seed to use. Im having to start from scratch. So my yard has to be tilled up and begin again. So I want a great grass seed.
rocket 2507 last week he did a video about seeding Bermuda. He lists some hybrid Bermuda seeds that he likes but says they are very expensive but cheaper than sod.
If you are tilling up your yard you should use the biochar that doc says we can't use unless you are tilling. I think you could get a whole lot more in and to the right place if you till and don't have to wait for it to go down slowly with a bunch of surface applications. that's what I would do, get a lot in all at once and deeper. Seems like it would be more efficient and cheaper.
I've been waiting for weeks for Humichar (and Super Juice) to be available again. Do you recommend the HumicDG as an alternative until the Humichar is available again in a couple of weeks? I have the PGF Complete and look forward to trying it. Thanks for all the hard work you do!
After watching the full 30+ minute video, I'll answer my own question. HumicDG is nice, but it won't do the same thing as Humichar. I will wait patiently :-(
From what I understand, EVERYTHING might have a price increase over the next few months due to freight. Had that convo last week. We are also seeing 10 - 30% increases in raw metals in my other business. Lumber has gone up 30% as well. (beach house) I don't see prices moving down on anything this year to be honest.
Thanks for sharing your lawn wisdom Bermuda Boss. The chicken crumble you recommend has apparently changed and now has probiotics and prebiotics. Will these things negatively affect lawns?
Quick question. If PGF "Complete" is supposed to have everything inclusive (I assume) what's the need for the additional applications (simultaneously)? By the way, I already have the Organic matter that I picked up from the Tractor Supply company and just got the PGF complete. I also have the other Anderson's fertilizer. I don't know why I ordered that too. Perhaps thinking I was buying Humichar? I'm from Jersey so we have a connection there. Thanks for your reply.

I plan to aerate this weekend or next, people continue to say to use top dressing and sand. Can I just use the HumiChar and PGF or do you recommend top dressing after aerating? Appreciate all the info!
Got my Humichar and Organic Matter...tomorrow I receive the PGFSu[er Juice, Microbial pack, and everything else. Can't wait to show my ex-landscaper I can do a better job and for a lot less. :)
I am sure it's in an older video do you have a video detailing your soil type and pH? I think you live near me Charlotte NC. But I am debating using humichar on my compacted builder fill red clay as I don't wish to raise the pH for my shrubs
Doc, does pre-emergent inhibit bermuda root growth in thin lawns? Tifway sod at some point that looks bad now - working on the curtain of death right now.
Anyone see an increase in slugs after adding the organic material? Or at least they were more visible? I thought it was grubs surfacing due to the granular pesticide, but they were small white slugs.
Is there any way you can confirm something for me? I had a guy at ACE Hardware tell me that if I’m using city water supply to irrigate my lawn, that applying the micro pack is pointless since the chlorine in the water will kill the microbs.
Love the idea of the chicken feed. I know it’s just organic matter...very creative idea. Are you going to put it out monthly? I just put some down. Now if I can keep the birds and rabbits from eating it. 😂
Hey Doc, with the PGF complete being put out every 3 weeks this time of year are you watering it in every other day when no rain is expected as you suggested in earlier videos? If yes, are you doing a light water application or normal? Thank you
Doc, I've been following your calendar for applications of Duo-cide, PGF complete, Pre-emergent, etc. I have been mowing every two or three days. I'm cutting at 1 7/8 inc high (Tiff Tuff Bermuda). West Texas area. My question is what happens if I'm away for 9 or ten days and can't mow. What do I need to do when I come back? June or July months is when I would be away. I have an irrigation system so the lawn will get watered. I assume my lawn will be too tal for a single cut at my current height.
I worry about the same when I go on vacation. I either have a friend cut it... or just deal with it when I get back. Think of it as a late season scalp kind of. It will be fine.
How to apply Humichar? I can't even buy it since you 1st mentioned it almost over 2 months ago. It's not from the lack of trying because we are quarantined at home and I've had nothing but time to babysit Amazon since before the first weeks of March. I think you bought it all. (Just kidding there.)

"Dr Ace Hardware" is wrong. TOTALLY WRONG. Just walk away.
The microbial pack labeling mentions it's good for pet burns on lawns. Doc, or anyone else, what's your experience on this?
If one applies Humichar immediately after aeration, it seems the process of penetrating the soil becomes much faster? Your thoughts on the Doc?
Somewhat.... it's a small amount of the soil that opens up.
Love the idea of the chicken feed. I know it’s just organic matter...very creative idea. Are you going to put it out monthly? I just put some down. Now if I can keep the birds and rabbits from eating it. 😂
Humichar is at Amazon right now!
Does Anderson make a biochar in DG pellet that's not humichar?
I'm working on that for next year.
@@HowTowithDoc is the chicken feed and humic DG a good substitute for Humichar?
Hey Doc,
with the PGF complete being put out every 3 weeks this time of year are you watering it in every other day when no rain is expected as you suggested in earlier videos? If yes, are you doing a light water application or normal? Thank you
Maybe water right after you put out in the evening. But that's about it unless the lawn NEEDS water. Don't over water this time of year..
How To with Doc Great...thanks!
That's a win win with biochar infused with humic acid. Look at videos on just biochar and how to make it. It's amazing stuff!
Doc,
I've been following your calendar for applications of Duo-cide, PGF complete, Pre-emergent, etc.
I've been checking Amazon daily and Humichar still hasn't been restocked 😢
kip24u it’s there right now
It's restocked now!!
Why not aerate or spike soil then apply biochar to get it into root zone? Those dogs have the life of Riley
Suzukii I agree it’s all in his garage
It's at Amazon right now!
Is there a benefit to tilling Humichar into soil and then spraying liquid humic acid on top of the soil?
What's the difference between HumiChar vs. Humic DG?
Humichar is biochar with humic. Humic dg is just humic.
How To with Doc Thank you! I’m also located in Middle Georgia! Everything you have shared has really helped my yard! Looks like a golf course now.
