08:05 Doc, that transformation of the lawn from what you had to where you are today is absolutely unreal. Incredible work and an inspiration to the rest of us.
Doc your property is so beautiful, and not just the lawn I mean all of it the pond the trees… all of it! One day I hope to have something this beautiful! ❤
Hey Doc I put down pre-emergent on 27 January and I have centipede and I’m down here in Southern Alabama by Mobile. I just bought some coded seed 10 pounds and because of the cold the last two winters it’s messed up my grass that was beautiful two years ago . I did add some mortar sand and topsoil put down about two weeks ago and that’s looking good. When would you reseed with centipede since five weeks ago I put down pre-emergent. Thanks, Doc.
I have Bermuda grass (and an irrigation system in my yard). I hate the yellow in the winter and want GREEN grass year round! Can I seed over the Bermuda with fescue seed and let it be the predominant grass I’m in the upstate South Carolina. Thanks.
Yet another great video. I was wondering why I have these darker spots that grows faster then the rest of the lawn. My female mini Schnauzer is nitrogen fertilizer.
My sodded Bermuda is different from “Bermuda” seed from the hardware store?! I’m glad I was this today, I was just about to shop for seed!! How do I find (somewhat) matching fine blade Bermuda?
He has talked about them. Search his YT site by entering "organic fertilizer". Organics are OK, but temperatures need to be warmer. Doc prefers fertilizers and soil supplements produced by The Anderson Company.
Also, when should I first cut my grass in Greenville SC? I’ve heard not until it’s definitely Warmer because of keeping the roots warm until it’s warmer ? Thanks.
Doc turnips are great in a clasic stew. Cut them the same size as the potatoes and when you eat the stew you will never know if it's a potatoe or a turnip and it add to the rich flavor of the stew. I know alot of people eat turnips raw, they slice it this and sprinkle salt befor eating.
Hey doc lawnmaster here hey can you make a video on how to fix the drive wheel on a reel mower and their isn't any good video on it and should love to see a great video on that . Thanks lawnmaster 🏆
Yes, like @kyleostrowski2611 said... I did a video showing how to replace the rubber rounds. But that is the only one I did. Not sure if that's what you're asking.
Hey Doc got a question...So our Bermuda lawn was sodded last March (2023) so I am in my second year with the yard. I worked all summer last year getting rid of crab grass and it is mostly gone now. I was wondering if I put down some 20.5-0-0 Ammonia fertilizer down to stimulate growth or will it damage the yard. We live in North West Alabama and we have, like you had a lot of rain. I put a pre-emergent down about two weeks ago when my soil temp was right at 50 degrees. Is that Ammonia good or bad for my lawn?
Beautiful lawns Doc!!! Question: When overseeding...nothing is mentioned in the video about covering or topping the seed with topping soil. Seed manufacturers recommend covering the seed with 1/4" - 1/2" of topping soil and plenty of water. What do you recommend? BTW...I am in Southern California with tall fescue and I have been following the Cool Season Lawn Guide. Thanks
I was panicking until you mentioned about your perennial rye holding up hopefully in the summer. I live in Jacksonville, NC and I put down perennial rye and like you, was the only one with thriving dark green grass and got the stares because I was cutting grass all winter. Do you suggest I kill off the rye (if possible) or water and hope for the best ?
H Doc, Based near Austin TX. I've put down my pre-emergent, humichar, and sprayed some weed killer. I put down the weed killer last week, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I was planning to do my pre-scalp this weekend, can I put down a different weed killer after the pre-scalp? or will that damage the grass?
I live outside of Houston so similar time frame. I don't know what you sprayed but if you used Image (for example) it can take 1-2 weeks before the weeds start showing distress. Give it a few more days?
Damn, I hit the like button and 666 pops up by the thumb!! 😳My bermuda grass is waking up here in west Texas. I know we are going to get another cold spell yet. I cant wait for the season!
Hey Doc, I’ve watched all your episodes a couple times at this point, thank you. My wife and I just purchased 5.1 acres in Thomaston GA, (1hr south of Atalanta on 19) and just had it all forestry mulched. Was planning on covering all the land that isn’t going to be grass with cereal rye but wasn’t sure it would live year around. Just watched this episode and it looks like you fields stay green year around. Any advice you can give me?
Hey Doc, we just moved into a new home in Texas ( zone 5). Homes in the neighborhood all get St. Augustine grass, which I’m not a fan of. I don’t think I could kill my yard due to HOA, would I be able to oversee with zoysia or Bermuda to eventually take over?
Tough call.. The St Aug is very deep and aggressive. The only hope might be to overseed and keep it REALLY short. But I think the St Aug will still be all around.
Doc - We live in North Georgia. The first week of March we saw earthworm castings on our lawn. First time in 5 years. Do we need to put Duocide down? Thank you.
Ok, dumb question, I have a 5 year old Bermuda lawn… Im a newbie, I thought seeding was done once (like when you first plant your lawn) … But I’m starting to hear terms like receding in the spring… Does that mean to reseed my already existing Lawn??
I get birds in my garage at least 2-3 times a year, and there's no windows. They will not fly though the huge garage door opening they came in, they will fly in the 1.5 foot or whatever tween the open door and ceiling ... its amazing, almost makes you wonder where the insult "bird brain" came from. In my case they eventually start to get worn down and I will reach out to them with a broom, which they will jump on, then very slowly and smoothly lower it down while pivoting around to the door they finally see the sky and figure it out
So I will say that I do need to re seed my Bermuda lawn in spots, but realized about two weeks ago I put down my pre-emergent from Anderson’s. I keep hearing that you can’t seed with pre-emergent on the ground but at the same time I’ve never seen anybody test this theory. So I’m either going to waste hundreds of dollars in blackjack Bermuda grass seed or something’s gonna happen in about 21 days or so lol 😂
@How To With Doc - your websites are down sir. Please see what's wrong with them and why they aren't opening. Might need to update your sites...thank you for the information otherwise I wouldn't be looking for it :)
Ok did not know that was doable. I suppose strictly a manual reel mower. Or can a rotary be alright? Also, do you think the perennial will survive where you have irrigation in the summer? I'm hoping that's possible because I reno'd a neighbor's lawn (PRG also initially thought just for fall and winter). We're in East Texas and I didn't think summer is much different than where you are ; can get HOT. I'll put growth regulator and soil wetter when the summer gets closer.

Thanks
Doc it’s so beautiful. That green color! You’ve done a phenomenal job.
We pick and eat the purple top turnips out of the food plots all the time. Great tasting. Nothing wrong at all with eating them.
Your place looks amazing!
Thanks for all your great advice.
Hey Doc...what's the latest on the DGL fert release? Will it be out this season and will it be good for bermuda???? Thanks
This video is right on time like your reading my mind
The ranch looks amazing. Thanks Doc!
Man that grass is sweet... Ooh-Rah Leatherneck... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the video Doc.
Would LOVE a suggestion for cool season fescue brand like you did for the warm season🙏🙏🙏
Artimuss from Heritage is a solid pick.
Combat Extreme is what Doc has I believe
I couldn’t believe you sold your last house with the pool and amazing lawn. Now I know why! That’s a great property.
Place looks great
Thanks

When is the putting green going in???
Doc, since we're about to get flooded out (I'm in your region) when should I spread my pre emergent and 10-10-10? I'm thinking Wednesday 3/13.
Wait for 2-3 days of sunshine... then hit it.
My sodded Bermuda is different from “Bermuda” seed from the hardware store?! I’m glad I was this today, I was just about to shop for seed!!
How do I find (somewhat) matching fine blade Bermuda?
Look for Yukon, Black Jack, Laprima on that page
Hi Doc, have you done any videos on organic fertilizer vs synthetic fertilizer
He has talked about them. Search his YT site by entering "organic fertilizer". Organics are OK, but temperatures need to be warmer. Doc prefers fertilizers and soil supplements produced by The Anderson Company.
Doc, do you have a link to the vaccum seal bags you referenced? Nees some larger bags for sous vide cooking. Thanks
It looks real good👌🏾
Also, when should I first cut my grass in Greenville SC? I’ve heard not until it’s definitely Warmer because of keeping the roots warm until it’s warmer ? Thanks.
General rule has been to make sure a frost won’t hit after you cut/scalp. I’m near you and will wait a few more weeks to make sure.
I'm with you guys, but down in Beaufort near the coast. I'm going to wait until the first weekend of April to cut it.
Question - why not Tall Fescue for its drought tolerance instead of Bermuda? Any cons to tall fescue, other than maybe your zone?
Hey doc lawnmaster here hey can you make a video on how to fix the drive wheel on a reel mower and their isn't any good video on it and should love to see a great video on that .

I would like the turnips, where do I pick them up? Thank you!!!
Got my soil test result. Really low on nitrogen and sulfur. What fertilizer do you think would be best for me?
Beautiful lawns Doc!!!

Just drop some seed Sunday and here come the rain 🙂

Always... include clover in the mix. It's a YEAR ROUND green that will return year after year.
@@HowTowithDoc yes sir that was the plan. Does your cereal rye stay green year round if you mow it before it gets tall and seeds out?

Hi Doc - I really enjoy your channel. One Question - where can I buy 5 pounds of Palisades Zoysia grass seed?
I'm guessing there is no "seed" for it. I THINK it's only available in sod form.
Great job! Love your videos. Do you cover Centipede grass in any of your lawn care guides. I live in north Florida.
Thanks.
I wish he did. On rare occasions you'll hear him mention something about.
If I fill a deep rut with soil (with grass already there) should I seed it too?
Cut the top grass layer and roots like sod. Fill with dirt then place the sod back on top.
I just bought my house a year ago how do I know if it’s sod/hybrid vs common Bermuda?
One way... if your covenants require homes to have SOD lawns. That means it was at some point sod.
Doc, love your channel! Will the organic chicken feed help turn Georgia red clay into good dirt? We are just north of Macon. -Thanks
Have you ever transplanted Bermuda plugs?
No, we use the runners. But plugs can work.
Doc I don’t see the link to the grass seed you used in this video
Hancock seed is where I get most
I see on some crabgrass killer that after application not to seed for 90 days should I not use?
It probably contains POST and PRE chemicals. Look for just a killer not preventer.
Doc - We live in North Georgia. The first week of March we saw earthworm castings on our lawn. First time in 5 years. Do we need to put Duocide down? Thank you.
When can i put seed down on LI ny PR seed?
Tell me about your pull behind mower. What is that? And brand?
How do you do pre-emergent with ALL this rain??
It's tough... pray for 2-3 days of sun then hit it.
@@HowTowithDoc Thanks Doc. This week coming, I am going to hit it!
Doc do I need to apply my second pre emergent ( Diemension 2EW ) before or after I spring scalp?
Ok, dumb question, I have a 5 year old Bermuda lawn… Im a newbie, I thought seeding was done once (like when you first plant your lawn) … But I’m starting to hear terms like receding in the spring… Does that mean to reseed my already existing Lawn??
Did doc already share what clover seed he’s using?
White Dutch clover.
When are you putting your Bermuda seed down
Do the deer eat those turnips?
Where do you buy your bulk seed from?
Amazon or Hancock seed
Will the deer eat the turnips? Just curious
Yes
They'll nibble a bit... but they don't LOVE them.

Hancock seed
What about planting on a bare surface.
Have done MANY video on it.
Doc- I’ve got something growing in my lawn that I cannot figure out. Do you have an email I could send a picture to?
Absent that, Reddit has a great bunch of sleuths in the “what’s this weed” category in Lawn Care subreddit
@@BadDriverrr gonna post now lol
I thought you could only get fine blade nice Bermuda from sod/clones.
Nope... several varieties of fine bladed seed.

I’m surprised the deer aren’t eating the heck out of your turnips
Doc you need a 0 trun
Cut grass short, seed, keep grass short until seed sprouts up. This translates to mowing while seed is germinating??
Correct. Cut short and keep it short. Then allow BOTH to grow together.
