    Turbocharged Muscle Car Fun: Driving The 1971 Olds Cutlass S71 Built At The V8 Speed and Resto Shop
    This 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass S underwent an incredible transformation into a powerhouse that seamlessly balances impressive performance with a subtle exterior appearance. Here's a summary of the key aspects highlighted:
    Performance and Driving Experience:
    - *Custom Turbo System:* Despite skepticism due to the turbo's distant location from the exhaust manifolds, the 422-cubic-inch engine delivers exceptional power, especially when the boost kicks in.
    - *Boost and Power Output:* The engine, boosted to around 14-15 pounds, significantly enhances the car's performance. With an estimated volumetric efficiency of 225%, it operates akin to a much larger engine, potentially generating 850-900 equivalent cubic inches and producing an estimated 800-850 horsepower.
    - *Driving Dynamics:* The car's drivability shines through, offering a comfortable and manageable driving experience during regular use. However, when pushed, especially past 3000 rpm, it unleashes its full potential, providing an exhilarating and powerful ride.
    Show and Recognition:
    - *SEMA Show Display:* The car gained attention at the MagnaFlow booth during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
    - *Magazine Feature:* Popular Hot Rodding Magazine recognized the car's appeal and featured it on the cover and inside the publication, acknowledging its exceptional build and performance.
    Overall Experience and Resources:
    - *Public Reception:* The positive response from the public and the recognition received from reputable publications highlighted the car's appeal and quality.
    - *Documentation:* Detailed documentation, including photo galleries and videos from the build process, can be found on vatvshow.com, offering insights into the car's transformation.
    - *Contact for Custom Builds:* For those interested in similar transformations or bespoke builds, the V8 Speed and Resto Shop welcomes inquiries through www.v8speedshop.com.
    The V8 Speed and Resto Shop team's craftsmanship, innovation in design, and meticulous attention to detail shine through this impressive build. The car's ability to marry raw power with drivability, along with its stunning appearance, has undoubtedly made it a standout creation in the world of custom automotive restoration and modification. For enthusiasts seeking top-notch restorations or high-performance modifications, the V8 Speed and Resto Shop team stands as a prime choice.
    The story of this Oldsmobile Cutlass S is a testament to the passion and dedication poured into creating automotive masterpieces that not only turn heads but also offer an unparalleled driving experience.
    Key Upgrades:
    Chassis and Suspension:
    - Tubular suspension from Global West for enhanced handling.
    - Hydro-boosted Baer brakes for improved stopping power.
    - Polished Weld Racing wheels complementing the car's aesthetic.
    Engine and Powertrain:
    - Custom-built Oldsmobile V8 Engine by BTR Performance.
    - Equipped with a 76mm Bullseye Power turbo from Outlaw Turbo Motorsports.
    - Fast XFI EFI system for fuel management.
    - Tremec TKO 600 5-speed transmission for smooth shifting.
    - COMP Cams roller camshaft, Edelbrock aluminum heads, and intake for improved performance.
    - Oldsmobile 425 forged steel crankshaft and custom pistons for durability.
    - Utilization of a high-strength Oldsmobile diesel DX block.
    - Producing an impressive 800 horsepower under full boost.
    Exterior and Interior:
    - Warp Speed Blue exterior paired with a white interior for a striking appearance.
    - Restoration parts from YearOne used during the process.
    - Featured at SEMA Show in the MagnaFlow display and Popular Hot Rodding Magazine.

    This is flat out incredible, guys. I've followed this build since day one, and I've eagerly anticipated this final installment for quite some time. Let me say, it was worth the wait! I own a blue '71 myself, and while the S71 has been inspiring, it's also heartbreaking, knowing I'll never be able to achieve what you guys have with this car. Mind officially blown! Thanks and keep it up, fellas!

    Great great job team. It's so nice seeing every part of this beauty replaced or refurbished. Maybe some day I will be able to do the same to my 72 Chevelle, 2 door, forged 383 sbc with a 76mm turbo. Mine drives just like you deceived in this vid. Gotta have drag radials to get any sort of traction.
    Well... Again, great car, thanks for building a bad ass classic with taste!!

    this car totally reminds me of my 71 cutlass, that had a turbocharged 350 olds with a 4 speed, 12 bolt and 3.42 gear. I promise you that car was scarey fast, sideways through 3rd gear, insane power, docile and quiet as could be. God i miss that car. it was even a similar blue color from back in the day.

    Whoever was doubting this would make boost obviously has very little experience with turbo engines! That's really funny. Give it an anti- lag system and it'll leave the line on as much boost as you choose. Nice car...

      @danielbrealey2924 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @AmericanPatriot-cw9xe
      @AmericanPatriot-cw9xe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      455 would be awesome, I had that motor 455 rocket in a olds custom cruiser waagon given to me free for helping a retired painter re do his dry wall in a rental house he owned, I was just 18 but i swear every muscle car that pulled up to me at the light and snickered at that car, i tickled the pedal n gave them that serious Nod n ran off n left them all behind me, next red light was them saying wow what u got under the hood, id say just a 350 to watch them squirm in embarrassment, put being a station wagon I had the weight for great Traction, I always wanted to drop that motor in a cutlass supreme it just had 60 thousand miles, but ended up trading it in for a new pickup truck

      It's all Olds. Started as a DX 350 diesel block, offset ground '66 Olds 425 crank, BBC H-beam rods, custom pistons yielding 422 cubes. The complete engine build is on TH-cam, look up S71 engine build with BTR Performance.

    • @silvernail6
      @silvernail6 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      V8TV Thank you for answering. I did follow the engine build, but the valve covers threw me and its been done awhile I'm figuring. Always heard that the high-nickel content diesel block was favorable because of its strength. Well that's got to be the best Cutlass on the street....

    wow what a awesome Oldsmobile, no body can need anymore speed than what that power than what that has that has no rust on body, n just surface rust on frame, repaint the frame n replace bushinns. put a newer updated suspension on her, she has disc brakes all the way around n a 455 motor, fresh n up interior headliner n re upholster seats, heck go over the whole car n make it great like you did here, am I looking at about 50- 70 thousand in work n materials all dais and done, or does anyone who has rebuilt one have a better idea how much do rebuild it the right way , i want to keep it n pass it on to my son when im dead n gone if fate is kind to us, n ride n enjoy it until then here n there

      +Ben N not sure what's hilarious, but the delivery timeline didn't allow us to get to the dyno. Our shop is in the Midwest, and the car was being delivered to the West Coast customer after being on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. We would have loved to chassis dyno the car, but just ran out of time.

      Does it really matter? It was built to be fun and bad ass. It did both quite well...No you can't be satisfied with that. You want the numbers crunched and handed to you on a silver platter. It's not hard to do a little research on DX builds to get a rough estimate on what it's making you ungrateful wanker.
