Name of the band: the Jimi Hendrix Experience! 3/ When he died, there were national funerals, with hundred of bikers on the Champs-Elysees, 1 million people along the path of the funeral procession. And this song was played when the coffin penetrated in the church. Johnny was a real vocal powerhouse, and in the last night, best perf, the mics were balanced in favor of Lara: he wanted her to shine and found this gave more drama to the duet. • The song: this is an anthem song for him, that he used to sing alone. This was turned into a duet for Lara. The story of the song was created in reference to a very famous old french classic movie: Le Jour se Leve (1939) where the main character is barricaded and surrounded by the police, having killed his girlfriend. Here it becomes more a « Bonnie and Clyde » scene where both are defying the police. • The venue/event: Johnny’s concerts in Stade de France ( biggest stadium in Paris and France) in front of min 80,000. The other days, Johnny came on the stadium roof winchesd by helicopter but that day it was not possible, so he drove his harley davidson on stage instead. • Lara: she was at the beginning of her career in France and this performance became legendary and accelerated her fame there. Désolée, mais je n'aime pas du tout cette prestation, enfin je devrais dire surtout celle de Lara Fabian, elle était jeune et elle en faisait beaucoup trop à l'époque, tant dans la surenchère vocale que pour l'interprétation. Johnny lui était égal à lui-même, excellent. Heureusement en vieillissant Lara Fabian s'est améliorée dans le jeu de ses interprétations musicales.
C'est une œuvre dramatique avec une dimension théâtrale et la chanter sans jeu, sans passion n'aurait aucun intérêt. Johnny était dans sa zone de confort alors que Lara a due s'adapter à sa tonalité, ce qui est extrêmement complexe...la performance vocale qu'a livrée Lara alors qu'elle était mise en difficulté est plus qu'impressionnante. Cette performance reste un moment mythique de la scène musicale francophone.
