- I decided to post this video after many comments on the 3rd place trio from Ukraine. Many said "how could anyone be better than the Ukraine's routine???!!"
As with any judged sport, many factors go into the score. In Acrobatic Gymnastics, there are categories for difficulty, execution, and artistry. You can score up to 10 in each ( and sometimes more in difficulty) totaling up to 30. I really loved the originality of the Ukraine trio, but there is no denying that this trio have little to no deductions and flies really high! They were on top of the podium at the end. - กีฬา

raindownonme21 it is not politics, just because you young minds are warped by different tv shows on what quality is, it doesn't mean that it was that good.
to me it looked more like an audition for SYTYCD.
To some degree all sports that require judging are affected by politics. I believe certain figure skating events are notorious for this, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in other places in different degrees. I'm sorry sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet (I really did mean it more as a joke than an actual serious response), but that doesn't give you the right to start making condescending assumptions.

This is one reason why I don't like the written word.. People miss 'tongue in cheek' tone. Btw, Van Damme is a twirp, hardly a 'heavily built man'.
goblue562 I'm more impressed by the drivers. Van Damme mostly had to do a split and hold himself steady. The drivers...they had to pull apart at exactly the same pace, accelerate at the same pace, and separate to the exact correct distance, otherwise we would have had Jean Claude van Dammit I Fell.

I have a question... I MEAN NO disrespect to traditional gymnasts. I have seem tons of these teams and everone of them are amazing! Normally no hesitations, solid as a rock and no wobbles. Why cant Gymnasts do the same thing? When you watch tratitional gymnastics you see so much wobbling and checks. I wonder if these groups could easily transition to gymnastics ???
They're two different sports - what you see here are tricks. They're done slowly and deliberately, and none of the tricks are done while moving about. That's why they look more solidly performed.
I don't understand what you mean. There is no "traditional" gymnastics there's just different types. These girls are ALREADY gymnasts so why are you asking if they would be able to do gymnastics?
Well these are champions, the gold medalists for gymnastics are just as solid. Also, the girls who are flying high in team efforts receive a lot of support from the bases. With gymnasts on vault or beam, they have to support themselves and propel themselves with their tricks so it requires more strength. Not saying that these girls don't use strength because they definitely do, just saying that the technique and things are different.

The reason the execution score isn’t ten is because of the first balance skill. During the top’s press (up and down) one leg was slightly above the other, and then transitioning into the second balance hold, her straddle was quite low. There also may have been a small height deduction because the top was too small compared to the bases.
I've never seen such strong legs in all my life.
I think all three teams were so good, i couldn't score this without being overly amazed and stunned at the same time, they're awesome!

Thanks for posting and explaining. Nonetheless, for what it's worth, many of us prefer the Ukraine team because it was beautiful to watch, and there was joy in the performance. This routine was boring, and the striking differences in mass between the team members presented a very flawed visual aesthetic. I see rigid technique, and no soul. I guess I just don't really care about the arcane rules of the judges. The Ukraine performance was art. I have watched the Ukraine routine dozens of times and am still moved by it. It even makes me want to see more gymnastics. This one just leaves me cold.

I still think Ukraine was better. I think the single part that wasn't quite synchronized let them down and the commentator OBVIOUSLY showed Russia more praise. Not to say that Russia wasn't mind blowing-they just weren't AS mind blowing as Ukraine for me.
They were more than once out of sync and the Russian group had more flow in there performance. That is not to say that both performance weren't amazing.
