- The Mercedes-Benz T2 was a transporter manufactured by Daimler-Benz. The T2 is also known as the "Düsseldorf transporter".
In 1967, the T2 was introduced as a successor to the L 319 / L 406 series. The vehicle filled the gap between the smaller Mercedes-Benz T1 (or Bremen Transporter) and the heavier trucks, manufactured in Wörth.
The T2 was available as a box van, a flat-bed light truck (with single or double cab), or a minibus. From 1977 the chassis was offered, for the mounting of larger box van and bus bodies, in two different widths. In 1981 the T2 received a facelift, the most visible differences were the new radiator grille, which now was a moulding of black plastic. The various T2 versions were popular for a wide range of applications: they were used as delivery vans, light builders' vans or trucks, fire-brigade and rescue support vehicles, post office parcel delivery vans (featuring sliding doors) and for very many other uses. In the early 1970s, T2 was also offered branded as a Hanomag-Henschel. In Brazil and some other South American countries it was built with a turbo system.
Production of flat-bed trucks of the first generation ended after 19 year construction period, after approximately 450,000 vehicles had been produced, in 1986.

Pelo que vejo, as maiores diferenças para os L608 D alemães são os piscas dianteiros, que são muito melhores nos modelos alemães, e a presença de aquecedor de cabine, um luxo que os nossos Mercedinhos, que é a denominação dada aos 608 brasileiros, nunca tiveram aqui.

I’ve been driving one of these vehicles it was similar to the truck @ 8:59 and boy was it a heap of crap with 9 million miles on the clock and it kept going so yeah a lot of fun too. and it had a tarp over the bed. Dual cab and a sleeping commendation behind the front seats with a mirrored ZF 13 speed range split gearbox. I blew the gearbox on my way to board a ferry home. It was scrapped I believe somewhere in Germany. It was old but sturdy enough to keep going for so long.
Loud and slow engine, although very strong, the 608D still is very popular in Brazil.
the green 3.8 litre engine was not very fast but very strong and lasted a lifetime.
I did own a 613 witch is the 6 cilinder version of that same engine, and that was
a real powerhouse that could pull any trailer and it did 120kmh easely.

Te stare "kaczki" to było coś... potrafili zrobić auta które odparły się próbie czasu.Fakt blacha po tylu latach musiała gnić, ale na pake można było załadować ile wlezie! a te SILNIKI wolnossące diesla to poprostu legenda !!! Mercedes-benz w tamtych latach potrafił zrobić dostawczaka/ciężarówke dosłownie niezniszczalnego, a dzisiaj zszedł na psy w każdej postaci, a te Sprintery 2.2cdi mogą sie schować głęboko...

I got this its 508D producted 1984 and mz father buy it in 1997 and we using it 20 years still in function and working fine, its slow but it can pull mach easier then 515 cdi sprinter with 70 hp more, and got start buton like new exotic car haha :D
Ich fuhr den Vorgänger und dann den Düsseldofer, der schon etws Komfort bieten konnte, es war das zuverlässigste Auto aller Zeiten.
Wir haben drei Busse dieses Typs gehabt. Rost, Rost und nochmals Rost. Ohne Zusatzheizungen wurde sie im Winter nicht warm. Langsam und laut.

There was indeed MB 508 as 4x4 although just small batches modified by Fa. Iglhaut using the front axil of the mercedes G-Wagon as early as 1983. Mercedes first factory 4x4 T2 was the 814 DA in 1991.

T2 zweiter generation, not erster generation. The erster generation was Mercedes Benz T1(Bremer)
. T1was the small one (207,308,408) t2 was the big one (508,608,711)
It was used on both types. The bremer and the düdo.
There was an old and a new version of both. The newer ones were built after 1978.
