Savvy Shines Bright yup. Schools purchase food from the lowest bidders and those factories are normally the highest in food safety violations. Meat from factories that has been rejected by McDonald's and Burger King for quality/safety are still served to schools.

In the UK it's quite normal to add milk. Here mashed potato in most schools is made by boiling potatoes, smashing them up, adding milk and butter. Extremely rare packet crap is used. Or even used for people at home. Personally I don't add milk because I have a dairy allergy. But I'm not the norm,

    This is a horrible idea.
You can OFFER a school lunch, but you should not ban someone bringing their own food. Whether they have dietary restrictions, the parents can't afford the school lunch or just the kid preferring whatever the parent made- you should not force your beliefs on others. the only exceptions of this is when the parents are not feeding the kids enough.

Except America is known for providing HORRIBLE school lunches. Like, milk turning solid aweful. Cheese being green. Salad being rotten. The situation is so bad most kids joke about "never get the tuna sandwich" or "never try the meatloaf."

Agreed. If the food was like in France or Japan, than I would have no problem with enforcing more school lunch policies (For context, France serves kids multiple different foods as school lunches, with things like Goulash and have things like cheese testing. And Japan has incredible school lunches that often include soups, rice, veggies, meat, all included in the meal).
But since America provides such low quality foods with no nation wide standard, than I say kids are safer eating what they brought with them.

It wasn't like this when I was in school why are we more health conscious nowadays then before? Sure a lot of people are obese but am I'm the only person who considers that they might have health conditions that prevents them from getting the required exercise to lose weight?!?! People nowadays are way too narrow minded and they need a good dose of a reality check.

Too many people are obese and not many of them have legitimate conditions that wouldn't allow for weight loss. Weight gain comes from excess calories, not from not being able to exercise. You don't have to exercise, you have to eat only what your body needs. A lot of kids are obese and grow up that way, reducing their quality of life. This is important.

I'll continue to prepare my kids school meals myself thanks and not waste good money or GROSS looking school made food like THAT that I know no mid of mine would ever eat unless you were holding them down and force feeding it to them. home made lunches is the way to go, and way better tasting than anything the schools could ever hope to provide in any century.
if they have a problem with it, they can take it up with my lawyer especially if I hear they have the nerve to take my kids meal from them just because THEY don't approve of whats in it. My kid deserves the BEST food, and not some sick looking thing that looks like THAT as their meal.

They should be aware that some kids have allergies or other medical reasons why they can't eat certain things. Not only am I highly lactose intolerant , but I also have many food allergies. Elementary school we had really good lunches until about 4 the grade. We had steak and pork chops and chicken and various vegetables and fruits and some prepared dishes like Turkey ala King. Then it began to go down hill. Middle school the food was close to garbage. Highschool I mostly brought lunch. The key is to prepare things the kids will eat. Many kids have under devolped taste buds, so all sorts of new things will probably go in the trash. Maybe the reason they fed us those familiar foods when we were little.

In the public school my child goes to in Michigan the only thing that is actually banned is nuts or pb&j sandwiches due to other kids food allergies. I send my child to school with a packed lunch because it's cheaper for me to just grocery shop and make some of her favorite foods and fruits instead of paying $3+ dollars a day for school served breakfast and/or lunch for the whole month, which gets expensive.

When I went to school, the meals tasted terrible, so I always brought a home lunch.
One teacher would always go around inspecting lunches and telling kids what they could and couldn't eat. She often told kids to throw away candy and junk food, and if they refused she would give them detention for disobeying. She was a power tripping byotch.
She once tried to make me throw away my soda and get a milk, so I chugged the soda in front of her and handed her the can.
I got detention, but I called my parents and they came down to yell at the teacher and principal and signed me out for the day

It would be more beneficial to show the kids how to prepare a balanced meal... According to their lifestyle: carnivore, vegetarian, vegan... Then just taking the control away from parents, the parents need that same food education or the habits at home won't change and in turn the change in school won't make a difference.

    • @morestuff64058
      @morestuff64058 2 ปีที่แล้ว

And I completely disagree with you. It won't show the kids anything. Also school lunches are not free. Sometimes they bring in packed lunches because the school food does not know how to make good food. instead they serve food to kids that looks more like a vomit than food. I Side with the Parents that make food for their kids. Unlike you who support Schools banning packed lunches so that it can be easier for them to serve them food that can make them sick

I don't like that someone other than the parent is deciding what is healthy? Every child has different needs and to make a blanket decision like that says a lot about the society of the school. I don't care if the food is free or not. I choose what is healthy for my child not someone else who doesn't even know my child.

This is old but I don’t care. I had a nightmare over this happening and it was highly distressing even though it wasn’t even real, that’s how bad this decision would be I bet loads of kids like me are suffering from the same thing I am. For context I used to have school dinners but I changed to packed lunches because I realised how awful the cleanliness was in that kitchen, marks on the cutlery (during covid mind you) and not wearing hairnets correctly are both no-goes for me (apologies as this is quite long and the video is rather old)

Parents are not paying for it. Sure they are, fees, increased taxes, whatever. "mandatory school provided lunches" have been shown that kids will routinely throw out a good amount of the food because they do not like it. EDUCATE, do not MANDATE. Also, some folks have special dietary needs.

What if the child has food allergies or has to be on a special type of diet for medical reasons?! What will the school do then? Just let the kid go hungry if they are unable to eat the school lunch?! This needs to be thought through a little more carefully in regards to a child's medical needs or if the child has severe food allergies and allow for accommodations that parents may send in special meals for their children if it's required for health reasons!
