It's great to buy a house, but mind you with the other costs involve, such as mortgage interest, property taxes, home insurance, renovations, unexpected breakdown of furnace, water heater, a/c, etc. Taking care of your lawn alone is very expensive. So, when you deduct all those expenses that have gone into the house; by the time the house is really yours, your interest at the end is not what you think. We should be aware of that. You need proper planning and discipline and a good job before you can jump into buying a house abroad. Trust me, I have bought a house, sold it, and now have multiple.

Finally some honesty. People think purchasing a house is all roses. Sometimes renting could be more beneficial to someone than owning a house. Either way make sure whatever you choose to do whether renting or owning makes financial sense

So true, I had to cough $7000 after my furnace broke less than a year after I purchased my first home. The cost to fix stuff around the house wasn’t easy at all

@twumbarimahdominic9492 Yes, it's not easy if you only have one income family. Some of the preparations you need before buying a house is; make sure you have extra savings, at least $5K to $10K besides your down-payment, insurance money, and property tax money before you can jump in. My husband and I had the patients to be able to save $20% down-payment plus some savings. My Dad wanted all six of us to visit Ghana during that time and we couldn't go. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thank God, we were able to payoff our first mortgage in nine years.

As a woman I rake and blow my lawn in the Fall season. My sons know how to cut the grass in during Summer. You keep the house up don't wait till HOA commands you to fix something is another. Lastly, when your man is handy it's a plus. He paints, does flooring, dry walls etc. Good luck ppl.

She is right about the education. I was last of my class in Ghana but in the US i graduated with a 3.3 gpa for high school and bachelor’s. I majored in Business Administration with a concentration in management. My algebra class I passed with a B but in Ghana my grade for math was bad I think it was in the 30s

Also for first time home I would advise a multi family house then rent a portion of it.

How about house hacking? If you are young & single that’s the way to go. For those who don’t know what house hacking is. It’s a means to buy a single family or duplex & rent part of the rooms or house for rent. The rental income will in most cases pay for the mortgage. The beauty of it is that you will live “rent-free” & also in the mean time build equity with your investment. It’s a win-win situation. 👍🏾😀

Indeed it is. I finished 6th form in Ghana (during my era in late mid 60s). When I got here in America in the 70s my 6th form education was equivalent to sophomore level at the college I attended. But during my junior age the others catch up in whatever major is your choice. Mine was electrical engineering. Of course the educational level is not the same as the 60s. There are too many colleges & universities (not a bad idea) in Ghana. There4 education has been diluted. Only my personal opinion. I maybe wrong. ✌🏿❤️

Far far...and our students are more intelligent than their students. Nobody should lie to you that our education is collapsing in Ghana.
Ghana just needs to link our education to practical and doing.....Our worst students can excel in America.

It is called a Welfare check and Food Stamps in the US. It is what most unemployed [a requirement] Blacks and Hispanic mothers get from Social Services monthly. Most immigrants except the Asylees do not indulge in it, you have no excuse, there are over abundant jobs. It affects your immigration standing but birth citizens of the projects some of whom never marry and have lots of babies for bigger welfare checks, don't have that worry. Asylees from Somalia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Afghanistan etc do however get their introduction into it since their huge arrivals from like the 1990s and are on welfare. So for those who find themselves in dire straits, don't be afraid to come forward to Social services for aide. Don't buy into that false narrative of you can't get any help in America like in Europe. Please go to social services if you are down and out they will look into your problems - food, temporary accommodation, but be documented. I know so.
