Christine, I recommend Dave trying organic rosehip seed oil on his psoriasis. Rosehip seed oil has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and soothing properties to it. I use it on my face as skin care and it has really toned down the redness in my face, my skin looks completely different in the best way! After seeing the results from that, I've used it on my eczema spots and other irritated places on my skin, and the stuff is amazing to calm the itching, the redness, the dryness, everything! I got mine at Walmart, it's the brand Sky Organics, and it was in the same aisle as the lotions, by the Burt's Bees and Shea Moisture brands. Of course you could also find it online. 👍🙂

@@sandy_sd10 you're welcome! I definitely suggest getting the organic to make sure it hasn't been exposed to pesticides or anything that would irritate your skin. But I am honestly, thoroughly impressed and pleased with the results! I've only tried the Sky Organics brand, but can confirm, in my opinion, it's amazing!

If Dave doesn't like almond milk have him try oat milk. Oatly is my favorite brand. The consistency is similar to dairy milk.

Oat milk is also very easy (and super cheap) to make yourself.

I was going to recommend oat milk as well. Also nioxin is a game changer for psoriasis

    • @alwayslearning9272
      @alwayslearning9272 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I second this! I tried so many different variations of plant based milk and found that many were either not a good cross over flavour, meaning they didn't work well in hot beverages or changed the flavour in other cooking, but oat milk is a very neutral flavour and one that has a consistency closest to dairy milk, so is a good all round option. Good luck! :)
Also Oatly is amazing but also probably the most expensive brand, so keep an eye out for cheaper oat milk options if you have them over there. :)

Love your grocery hauls! I am often surprised by your egg and dairy prices! I live in a pretty cheap area of PA and 18 eggs is $2.25-$3 depending on where you go. I, too, end up with some random chocolate bars in my grocery cart without ever touching them. It's so odd how that always happens!

I LOVE the Herdez Guacamole Salsa. My favorite IP recipe is boneless, skinless chicken breast (or thighs), 1 jar Herdez, 1/2 cup chicken broth, 4 sliced jalapenos, juice of 2 limes, 3 tbsp taco seasoning and a handful of chopped cilantro. Everything thrown into the IP and cook for 20 min high pressure (25 if frozen) and then a quick release at the end. Remove chicken from the pot to shred then put back in to mix with the leftover liquid. I usually serve this over cilantro rice and black beans plus any condiment you enjoy. I love your channel!

Hey Frugal Momma- I know you said you are doing some gardening why don’t you grow your own lettuce! I have started my garden this year and I have been loving it! I am all over it bc of the prices and everything going on right now in the world 🌎. Lettuce 🥬 is one of the fastest growing herbs/seed to grow! If you cut your lettuce 🥬 right when harvesting you will get more all season! God bless you & your family!

For salad use cabbage instead of lettuce. It keeps better and works very well. I use a sour cream or mayonnaise as a base for dressings, but you can use your regular dressing . Plain almonds are a snap to make almond milk. Then you have almond meal for making humus.

Hi Christine! I adore your videos, you're such a light. We should all expect our groceries to be more expensive and lower quality in the upcoming months as our food system has been greatly disrupted due to COVID. Looking forward to your next video!

I used the AIP elimination diet to pinpoint my autoimmune triggers. It's pretty extreme but the did recently do a study on AIP and psoriasis. Also, re: Almond milk, try making your own! 1/3 cup raw almonds, water, Vitamix or other high speed blender. Done and done. Froth it for your coffee and you won't remember why you ever wanted milk!

I’ve had psoriasis since I was six years old. The only non-medication approach that has worked for me is a gluten-free diet (and lots of lotion after showering). When I eat gluten, not only does the psoriasis flair, but I also get gastro bathroom issues. I don’t wish gluten free on anyone, but it does work for me and my issues. Good luck!

Grow your own lettuce in a bucket or easy to move container, that way if it gets hot or cold (snow) you can move it in out of greenhouse. I find that salad mix seeds are easier to grow than like a head lettuce (iceberg, romaine, etc). I usually grow my head lettuces when warmer outside. Also kale is supper easy to grow but only plant 1 or 2. It just keeps growing.

The herdez guacamole salsa is fantastic with chicken in a crock pot or instant pot.... 4-6 chicken breasts, 1 jar of the salsa, some water... maybe add some onions..... cook it up... crock pot, 8 hrs on high, or 4 hours on low... instant pot 15-25 mins depending on if frozen or raw.
Serve as a burrito bowl with rice, Pico, black beans... or tacos.... yummy!!!! This is a staple in our house... my 14 year old calls it green chicken... and requests every week

I am also trying to avoid dairy to try to clear up eczema right now. The so delicious brand yogurt and ice cream is so yummy! I also recommend the silk soy yogurt and plant butter. And plant butter is the same price as regular butter at my Walmart (and tastes basically the same!) I would definitely suggest trying all the different milk alternatives for yogurt. They do have different tastes and some are better than others.

I have autoimmune disease, and Psoriasis is one of my issues. For that, what cleared it up in two weeks was going gluten free. Gluten and dairy are the worst culprits for Psoriasis. Another helpful thing is to try to sit in the sun for 30 minutes daily if possible. I have since gone on an Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). It's an elimination diet for autoimmune disease. Usually there are other issues if you have one. I have done reintroductions and now my diet looks more Paleo. It has helped tremendously.

The two major diet changes that effected my psoriasis positively where removing dairy ( mostly the milk) . I did almond for awhile but prefer oat now. The other huge difference was starting my day drinking 16 ounces of water with half a lemon squeezed in and drinking that on an empty stomach. And the last was watching sugar consumption. My 25 year with psoriasis was 80 percent better with those three changes. And when i took the lemon water out it went down to about 50 percent better.

Also deodorant options, if you don’t mind aerosol, try the degree advanced protection dry spray. Also like the dove dry spray.

I don't eat any dairy at all. It's a major trigger for anything auto immune, so it's a good thing to try. I honestly don't miss it anymore, it makes me too sick! Withdrawal is a real thing! For me it was about a week of feeling nuts, just know it passes. Daiya makes a nice cream cheese and I just found recipes for making a homemade version. With vegan mozzarella and yellow cheese,it's better to use just a small amount, you won't want anything dripping with it. Just enough to add a little texture/ flavor. The great thing about no dairy in smoothies is you can taste the fruit flavor better and not use any sweeteners.

I transitioned from using cow's milk to almond milk about a year or a year and half ago, and I haven't gone back! Unsweetened vanilla almond milk, which I buy generic from Walmart and Aldi go amazing in cereal, smoothies, and protein shakes. It cuts down the calories a bit, so Dave might have to supplement some fat in his smoothies or protein shakes, but the transition is very smooth! Since I don't use almond milk as a drink but as something to go into something else, I go through it slower, so the higher cost doesn't bother me too much. Water is almost free!

But before you know it, you don't miss it. Thankfully, there are more alternatives out there. Vegan diet is a good mindset to help.

If Dave can manage fermented foods as well this will help his gut bacteria and really will help with the psoriasis. He likes olives so he may like them. They are expensive to find but you can make them at home too. It's a bit of a process but well worth it. And we all should consume always. I do small jars of many things using fermenting lids by Masontops just using normal ball jars. And then have a bigger pot for fermented kimchi or cabbage kraut. My husband had gluten issues starting around 46 now age 50 however he is fine as long as he keeps up his fermented foods. It is work, but it is fun and satisfying and I can not keep fermented carrots hidden for long enough they are all trying to open the lids way to early they love them so much. That's the kids too...., and mine are old enough to know how to wait. It really only takes a few days to be ready, but they have grown to crave it. It's fun too. Very satisfying. Good for our gut health.

I have a dairy allergy, I can have a little but not much but recently it’s been bothering me more when I eat ice cream or have milk on my cereal so I switched to almond milk recently and I’ve been feeling so much better, you can’t really taste the difference it’s great.

I feel you about the lacking produce. I did a pickup order at Kroger (Smiths for you) and I got 2 containers of 2lb each strawberries, 2 containers of 16oz blackberries, and 8 bananas. When I unloaded the groceries at the house, both of the strawberries had a large clump of white mold on it along with both containers of blackberries. I was so looking forward to having cold fresh strawberries but was very disappointed. Also, going to a Kroger is like a treat because it’s about an hour away so that hurt even more. I usually only pick out my own produce but because of this virus and my dad being in the at risk category, and there being A LOT of people there, I had to do pickup. Still love Kroger, but never getting produce through grocery pickup anymore.

I feel the deodorant issue. I've used the Nivea sprays, lady roll-ons, everything. I found a shield mens roll on that is amazing. And the new seeds are exciting!! I planted watermelon radishes and rainbow carrots today!!

Don't wanna sound bad but with me being an autoimmune patient and not eating dairy and gluten, I m kinda glad you are trying to substitute and hopefully share your thoughts and experiences, maybe recipes as well. I still watch your videos anyway and substitute ingredients myself (or just leave it out, eg. Cheese). You guys in the US have a ton of options when it comes to non dairy and gluten free foods, unlike us. Although it's getting better...
When I did not know yet my issues with dairy (I drank at least a liter of milk every day, not to mention cheese and stuff, we put sour creme on all of our dishes), I had asthma like symptoms and my skin was itchy so much that when I came home, I would take my pants of and scratch my leg with a boar bristle brush, bcs it was sooooo itchy. All this went away about 2-3 weeks after cutting dairy out. After 8-9 years now, it is easy to live without it. And gluten as well, you just gotta shift your mind and lifestyle and plan ahead.
What will Dave eat when you guys eat the freezer meals? The only bad thing about eating like this us that you always eat something else than the others, although I don't have a family, so I only experience this during family gatherings....

My youngest dtr had skin issues and was going through a full medical diagnostic work-up. She was about to have biopsies and called me first. I remembered when she was a baby-toddler she had sensitivity issues with gluten and dairy products. She eliminated dairy and gluten from her diet for 2 weeks and ALL the skin problems healed. She was so happy not to have biopsies and felt great! She hadn't had any problems since she was very small so had been eating the offenders. She works in a large bakery-like setting and loves bread. Ergo the skin issues started and worsened. Other than that she normally chooses organic foods. I told her "start with simple" then step it up if needed to find the culprit. Mystery solve, happy dtr and son-in-law. Don't ya just love happy endings? LOL

Your car must be snacking on the way home, that is the second time this week you 'lost' produce on the way home. At least your car is snacking healthy....On a serious note over sow your rosemary, the seeds usually have a low germination rate. I sowed 20 seeds only 2 germinated. My DIL sowed a whole packet, she got a goose egg! Cuttings are easier to establish in my opinion. Great vid!

If there’s an allergy to dairy for babies and breastfeeding moms, I know it can take 6-8 weeks to fully eliminate it from breast milk. I’m curious if it takes a similar amount of time to leave the body and see results with psoriasis! I. Started to eliminate dairy and realized I use a whey based protein 🤦🏻‍♀️ they also say that it’s ALL dairy elimination or nothing for results. It’s a hard knock life, man!
