- ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL is the legendary Austin based 9-time Grammy winning Band led by the dynamic Ray Benson. For over 40 years Asleep at the Wheel have been carrying the traditions of Bob Wills across generations and the into the 21st century. The band latest CD is a spectacular tribute to this legacy, called ‘Still The King: Celebrating the Music of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys'.
THE QUEBE SISTERS from Fort Worth, Texas are a triple-threat fiddle champions playing and singing in multi-part close harmony.
BOB WILLS: Widely considered “The King of Western Swing,” Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys performed thousands of shows across the United Sates for nearly six decades and recorded prolifically in the late ‘30s and early ‘40s. Early stars of American country music, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1968, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and the National Fiddler Hall of Fame in 2007.
WoodSongs Kid: Zane Bolton is big country music fane. This 11 year old is from Henderson, Tennessee.
I walked into a dorm room in 1977 and my new roommate was playing some amazing music. I asked him who it was, and I’ve been a huge fan since.
Hello Harlan county. Kentucky 🌄🦌
Asleep at the Wheel never fails to deliver when they're traveling on "Route 66" especially with the Quebe Sisters and the Clark Sisters on board...and a salute to Bobby Troup who wrote such a great song not to mention Nat King Cole who made it so popular.
Love Texas Swing & especially Asleep at the Wheel!! Beautiful
AATW + the Quebes = match made in heaven. Bob Wills is smiling.
Very true
I think Western Swing is one of the greatest things to come out of my home State of Texas. Bob Wills was it's pioneer and Ray Benson's Asleep at the Wheel a most excellent Ambassador.
You have to hand it to Ray, he’s never been afraid to surround himself with the very best talent and let them shine. Same formula that made Bob Wills the King.
Much oblige WOODSONGS
GOD BLESS
Good folks grassroots all day🎉
Great Collab!
Emily Gimble on keys and vocals is terrific. I was always a Floyd Domino fan and Emily is puts a smile on my face too.
I have been a fan of AATW for over 50 years the Wheel keeps a rolling!
Love me some Katie! Ray Benson > smooth as you wanna be! Texas Best.
I drove from Rock Springs Wyoming to North Platte Nebraska after midnight. I was tired. I didn't remember the drive. I was asleep at the wheel. Scary shit.
Wish I had three daughters - or six - like that.
Trying to keep the traditional country alive here in southern California, must be my Texas family roots. Rick Robledo & Working Cowboy Band

Two of my fav groups, saw Ray Benson in Atlanta a few months ago, waiting to catch up with the Quebes. All the TH-cams are great, plus every AATW cd great.
Some of Saul Goodmans best work
Anyone know if Asleep at the Wheel has ever performed Amazing Grace live?
Fine that they did "The Girl I Left Behind Me." Bob Wills did a record of that back in the 1940's that was splendid, but not too much like the version here. The Wills band had lots of wind instruments, and the arrangement made them sound like the Ft Worth version of the Glenn Miller Orchesta, only much hotter. I wonder if Bob WIlls record of the "Buffalo Gals Twist" back during the Twist craze of 60 years ago had anything to do with him getting into the R'n'R HOF.
sure miss Emily on the keys
The band should never compete with the voices. That bass was over powering. Where was that sound man? the Quebe sisters sound better than that.
I agree man but this was probably bootlegged on an iPhone - who knows.. it just shows what freaking scary-good pros they are. Live performance throws all kinds of monkey wrenches at you - not being able to hear yourself is the kiss of death for a vocalist - but they still sounded great.
It's an all-volunteer crew, including cameras and sound. The show airs on PBS and on public and Armed Forces radio. It's a tremendous public service, even when the technical work is less than perfect.
The show usually features mostly acoustic acts. This more bodies and electic instruments than they usually see.
What do you expect?...Woodsong is a Full on Commie Operation
@@harrykuheim6107 huh?
