Thanks so much. Like most I had only known this from the Bonzos' version. The original is charming.

This sounds just like the sort of novelty song that Bertie Wooster had such a weakness for!

This reminds me that the "Fifth Beatle" was the producing novelty songs at Decca prior to being teamed up with the Fab Four and of course the "Do Not Adjust Your Set" TV programme for "children" and the Bonzos.

I wonder how one may make this song sound creepy instead of fun. For example, if anyone would make a thriller movie based on Jim Corbett's feats, it could fit just right. But he shot tigers for a reason, he hunted man-eaters, and examples of their deeds that he used to describe based on witnesses' testimonies are actually quite frightening.

@@SamuraiAkechi a college friend described how a family friend disappeared from the verandah in the rubber plantation. All they heard was a chair falling over. The man eater was quick, silent and deadly.

@@jonjamg right, I think, leopard of Rudraprayag has managed to kill one man while another one has turned his back on the poor fellow, and only when he turned around he noticed a leopard dragging the body away
