Yeh I do I’m a hard worker I love responsibility it has stable income and stuff I’m currently 14 in October this year and has also been my dream job I have a creative mindset my idea is to be uniques
The reason I’m wanting to study architecture is the idea on building things. And leave something in the world that’s built after I pass away. Creating history for myself and leaving a mark in this world.
ive been binge watching a bunch of architecture-career type videos like these today and this video really helped a lot. an older teacher of mine used to tell me that to him, working as a teacher wasn't a job because it's what he loved. i hope architecture can be like that for me in the future.
i always loved playing legos, making my own buildings, playing sims 4 building houses, games that require building always came natural to me, i am doing visual arts at school and i would say my spatial intelligence is very. good, but numbers and physics are just the death of me, thats the only thing thats holding me back honestly.
im the opposite lol. the only thing ive ever cared abt in games (minecraft, sims, terraria, etc) has been building. i care a lot abt aesthetics lol. i considered doing mechanical engineering for a long time, until i realized i really dont care mych for waves&optics in comparison to mechanics/dynamics. the only thing that worries me is that my spatial awareness is really bad.
Why am I choosing architecture for a career path? (friends, family, or self) What do I think architecture would involve? (visualize what it will feel like in the future) Are you creative? (creative mindset, think outside the box) Are you a people person? (mostly team game; engineer, client) Do you think you can sustain putting in 50 yrs into?
I am currently studying architecture in high school, and I love it so much. I believe that I have a God gifted ability to use creativity to impact the environment around me. More specifically, I want to go into residential architecture. I believe that getting to see my creative abilities and other design gifts to help others enjoy their quality of life even more is just so inviting. Residential architecture is not special to me because of the money, or self-benefits, but rather to help others and become someone who is able to bless people with a structure that they build a family in, or retire and enjoy time in that area. I would recommend exploring architecture to anyone interested. Have a great day everyone!
I’ve been struggling all throughout my education to find a career path where I could thrive. Even my core interests didn’t feel right as a pursuit. I never pictured myself doing architecture, but now that I’ve looked into it and seen what it has to offer, I finally feel some peace. Thanks for this video.
Im choosing architecture because i loved drawings but couldn’t find the one passionate about but when i discovered architecture i love the idea of what they do since them I’ve practice it and lets just say i really enjoy and love it
Hey guys let me tell you my short story😁 About 3 years ago ,i lost my confidence for some reasons ang gave up on my dream job (i meant becoming a civil engineer or architect ) then started working at some local stores. But i always felt like" im wasting my precious time" and still have passion about designing and constructing houses or buildings. Then a couple weeks ago i realized that i had to follow my heart 😔.And i loved the idea of being an architect: imaging unique houses, etc. Sorry for grammer mistakes
I wanted to be an architect. Then i took architecture classes. After the 3000th form vs function remark i walked away. I wanted to build and create not be brainwashed
Great video ☺️ ! I just started to study architecture and I’m doing it for like 2 Months. It is extremely time consuming and I constantly feel kinda lost 😅 the course content is pretty interesting, but still I’m consistently self doubting myself it’s like I’m doing everything wrong while trying my best.
Thank you! Don't worry, everyone comes across these feelings. Check out this video if you want to learn what i do to get "unstuck" th-cam.com/video/2WAUYGSsrPc/w-d-xo.html All the best to you :)
My reason for wanting to go for architecture is that I've always been into buildings:from an early age I've really been into lego blocks, and from my own imagination I was building ships, with different shapes and structures, because I was also into ocean liners and I still am. Second of all, drawing gets me. When I draw, I try to give my best and feel like I'm doing something that I love. Maybe a third reason is that I'm a person that loves planning. AND DAMN HOUSES. Especially old ones, I like analyzing them, thinking what could go better and how would I do it. But still, I'm not that sure that archi is the way, but hopefully I will set my mind and go for what will make me happy.
Hey Kyle… Excellent LIFE-guiding video! I’m 72… and after seeing your video and honestly answering your questions, I fully realize I would have been much happier and satisfied as a career architect… rather than the other poor choices I made (electronics, science). As a boy I dreamed of being an Architect and into my teens too. But military life changed everything for me. YOUR VIDEO IS AN AWESOME WAY TO HELP FUTURE ARCHITECTS DECIDE! Thanks for the good work on your channel here…
Thank you for this. I wanted to do architecture because I’ve thought about it since I was in 2nd grade. From time to time I’ve had an idea of changing and trying out different courses but I always came back to architecture. I kept thinking of going a different career path where my yearly wage can be above 100,000 like a CS engineer, dentist, etc. My family’s supportive, but from time to time I hear something like “being a computer science engineer pays well in comparison to let’s say architecture” from my relatives while they look at me. Then I say that I don’t mind if I don’t make as much money, but then they go “oh you WILL once your dad stops paying for your insurance, bills, and all that.” So I got anxious once again and kept thinking if I should really get into architecture. A lot of the videos I found on yt were all quite discouraging saying stuff like “architecture school gave me insomnia.” However, this ended on a good note and kind of encouraged me once again that I want to keep going with this. I’m gonna have to keep myself in a room with a pen and paper one day and think deeply about these questions.
If you enjoy what you do you'll find a way to make money doing it. If you go into something for the money, it's very difficult to find the passion to do it. Obviously one method is more sustainable than the other! Don't be too hard on yourself though. Whatever you choose to do, you'll find what you love about it and can go from there.
It is so nice to hear from an experienced Architecture student! I'm currently in Middle School but feel strongly passionate about Architecture. As a middle school student, what are some of your recommendations for enhancing my passion for Architecture at this age? I really want to get into the work field and gain experience. Thank you so much for everything and keep making Architecture videos!!!!!
Thank you so much Kimberly! I appreciate your support :) I wish I had gotten some experience inside a practice before starting my education. Perhaps while still in high school. You don't need to get a full time job, even just spending a day inside a practice to see how things are done. Buy an architect lunch and chat for 15 minutes to pick their brain etc. I also think reading is a big one that many people forget about. Not only reading, but also online courses and videos on TH-cam etc. All very underestimated and can boost your skills very further ahead than your peers. Hope that helps :)
I am from Philippines🇵🇭, I am a Senior High School student (16 yrs old) and I find your videos very very helpful for my career choice and I like designing houses and drawing medias. I prefer myself as a creative person and critical thinking solver(if thats a word haha) and both an introvert and extrovert. I am hoping and wishing for you to have more for your youtube community and help other people or kid dreaming to be an architect just like me. Thank you for your inspiring words and God Bless!
Thank you so much for sharing Guianne! I've got a feeling you'll do really well with whatever you choose to do. Keep at it and thanks for supporting the channel! Cheers
Yes I really really want to but unfortunately, living in poverty, my parents don't want me to take the course because of the financial problem, they say anything except architecture. I really really want to take the course, it's depressing but that's life.
Hi, I’m 14 and I’ve been researching about architecture quite a lot lately and I think I want to be an architect, would you give me any advice to be a successful architect some day?
Sure thing! I've got plenty of videos for young architects, but this one's probably going to be the best for you: My advice for young architects (3 lessons) th-cam.com/video/0nSpzJSIINk/w-d-xo.html
I’ve wanted to be an architect since I was 7. I went to college for 5 years and never got a degree just because my parents said I needed to go to college. I am now following my dreams of building my own home and making my mark on the world
My high school is a trade school, and architecture has been one of the things to select from! I did choose architecture after a bit of research and I think this solidified my answer in being an architect! We are doing projects this year, so I'm excited to see how that works out and see if I do like drafting and making my own projects! Thank you for the video
Senior high here! Thank you for this wonderful video! I'm actually deciding if I'm going to pursue architecture since it has art in it, which I really love to do to make me stay motivated! It really help me a lot at thinking of improving my weaknesses first!
Hi, I just wanted to stop by and say a huge thank you! A year ago I was frantically looking for architecture content to see if this was the right path for me. I was just starting my last year of high school and I knew I had to prepare for very tough exams if I chose to study this major in uni. I had never drawn much and I was way behind in math. Then I came across this video (them looked at you other content) and it was truly a turning point! I felt confident in my decision and stuck through with it and today I just had my first day at the best Architecture university in my country! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work and down-to-earth approach! Thank you for the insight into the profession! Keep doing what you do! It inspires people!
That is so nice to hear! Thank you so much for coming back and letting us know! I wish you all the best for the future and hope to get an update again down the track :) Cheers Kyle
my reason for going to architecture is that i noticed as a kid, i loved building houses out of paper and i had a suprising talent for it. Plus i love building and creating things so i thought maybe i should try architecture since it was the only career that stuck out to me. If i were to visualize myself doing architect i can see myself cursing at past me for choosing this course but yet enjoy it all at the same time. I can see myself communicating with my workers, discussing about what plans would be necessary and the joy id feel once the project was finished. in terms of creativity, i think im not that creative but i do have the mindset. I like solving problems, i find problem solving fun and enjoyable but im not good at it. im a very people person and love talking to people. so im confident i would do fine in socializing. I cant say for sure i would be willing to put 110 amount of effort into architecture but i can say as of current i find the prospect of architecture more interesting than other courses. Right now the only thing is holding me back from choosing architecture is the fact that im not good at drawing, technology related things and organization.
i fell out of love with architecture few years ago and fell in love with architecture again. I can feel the difference because i'm excited to learn more about architecture and i think it's the only passion i have right now and forever. I like the idea of designing buildings and team work and i love the process of model making. I'm going to back to university to pursue architecture!. Great video kyle!
Thank you man, you helped me finalize my thoughts on becoming a creative. I've always been a lover of form and sculpture but realized the difficulty of making a comfortable living from it. But it's as you said, trading time for money won't be something that I wish I had done more when I'm on my death bed. Have a blessed day 🙏
I’ve had a very successful career in health, but been miserable the whole time. It’s what I thought I should do, which was impacted by others. After around 20yrs I’m enrolled in an Architecture course and at 40yrs old I feel like I might get to start what I want to be doing for me. I really don’t know what will come from it, but it honestly really feels like the right thing for me. I’ve found all of your videos to be so helpful for me. Thanks!
I've been asking myself since i was 12 now I'm 18 still in higschool so i think i have good reason because i want to plan the outlook interior design the tunnels the electric material e.g sockets Everything should be mine.
Thankyou, I love buildings, I get lost when I visit new places, I examine them taking all my time, I always wanted to be an architect, but I was being held back as I'm not good at all in drawing, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to draw what I imagine, but this motivated me to keep on going. Thankyou for the video and the video description. I had a bad day and this just made the rest of my day great ! I ll keep working hard. I became a subscriber as well !
Hey! Great video! I'm just curious, what was/is your answer to, "why do I want to study architecture?" Is it the same answer today as before you started studying it?
Hey DJ. Thank you so much for the kind words! The answer definitely isn't the same as to when I first started. I was talking to an interior designer with 20 years experience the other week and she said something like "along the way, you try new things and discover new scopes to the profession that suit your character - things that you never realised you'd enjoy before." Through the journey, you discover parts to the profession that tailor to your personality that you never realised existed before. Keep doing those things. Originally, it was something that my brother talked me into. I had no idea what "architecture" actually was. That understanding grew over time and the more I learnt about what it is, the more that passion grew. I hope that helps somewhat
I'm a draftsman for over 3 years now. Just when I thought I knew enough about Architecture, but Boy oh boy am I wrong. Drafting and designing is a whole different thing.
Also, I would like to further add that I am doing my best that I can do but I feel like I am losing the spark in myself for which I came to an arts school. I don't know what is right for me.
Doing a bachelor of science/ business at the moment. 1 year in and it's not what I though it would be, and I've discovered how dry and uncreative these topics can be. I've always loved history and sustainable building, it seems like architecture would be a better route for me to go down.
@@fernandap2664 Hi, I'm now 2nd year architecture student and for me it was worth the switch. It's a fair bit of work, but if it interests you then go for it
I’m jus looking at options and I’m just not sure what I want. Architecture does seem interesting but who knows. But you know what I do want? That drum set behind you LOL
Wanted to study architecture but then i questioned myself and now i paused my game of life and take some intership and try find something that i love to do
Im a junior in highschool and my art teacher told me to get into physics if i want to get into architecture but im not good at it so i dont know if i'd get into university, people in my class are dropping physics because they're getting 50's and 60's 😭😭
Hi I am Alexa and I'm 12 year old Filipina girl in 8th grade and I'm gonna share my answers here on the chat box while I'm watching the video 1. Why are you considering architecture as a option? - I love design and drawing, it helps me to keep me going in life. I also like to be challenged so I can try new things and I also like to be challenged by mathematics that's why I'm studying hard. 2. What do I think architecture entails? - I visualize myself drawing, desiging and communicating if I pick this course in the future and I believe it'll help me how I see things in life. 3. Are you creative? Yes, I am creative in a way that I can vision what I need to do but Im struggling to put it into reality. 4. Are you a "people person"? I am! I don't have troubles in communication, I'm just a bit shy. 5. Could you sustain enormous amounts of effort for the next 50 years? Yes I can! And I am willing to do it. Even though I'm lazy, I want to be a better me and push myself for myself and my family to provide the thing we want and need. That's all ty for reading and taking your time 😁
I am 16 and choosing for my majors.I like creating designs and watch that my ideas become in shape in real world. For your questions my answers are 1.I CONSIDER AS I THINK IT IS INTERESTING AND I LIKE MAKING DESIGN,2.I SEE MYSELF VISTING HOTELS AND RESORS CHECKING MY DESIGNS AND WORKS 3.YEA I WILL BE ENTUSIASTIC FOR MAKING SKETCH AND DESIGNS.I hate maths, bad at it and not good at drawing but i am creative i think.I will be enthusiastic to work on my model or design when i wake up.I also enjoy working hard .But one reason is that my marks in final exam is not good and according to our country's system i will not get in to the best uni for architecture but i still get in other architecture universitites, with my marks .but That university is so far and the place is bad.If i choose it i have to go there for 6 years everyday.Should I major in it or not?@Successful Archi Atudent????
Hey Lunica. Thanks for the comment. I would go for gold. You only know for certain once you've tried it. Until then, you'll never know if it's the "right choice". Even if you spend a year at that university and find it's not to your liking, that's time well spent. All the best :)
Honestly bro I almost give up on my dreams of becoming an Architect because am not good at mathematics but you have lifted my spirit somehow thanks, man 🙏
I really want to become an architect but now I am thinking about it especially the people preson part and now just watching architecture videos, hope you can help me decide.
Only reasons to choose architecture: I hate sleeping, I love criticism, I don’t like having a social life, Reasons to choose: explore your mind (at school and not in real life) rub it in peoples faces 😂😂😂
You talk about "giving your 110 percent near the end of the video" - but what if I complete an Architectural Degree but end up not getting the dream job I want - all that "hard-work", "time" and "effort" to study something you love - but end up getting rejected for your job, so in this manner looking up for job-security, gathering background facts about Architecture (in the future) is good, for example ["Is it a secure job", "How are the job-opportunities for Architecture", "Will I ever get a Job within 3 years after graduation"?] These questions should most definitely be considered when studying a career. Also, a little help - I like Architecture because of the "creativity-element", "Analysing Materials/Structures" but I am also good at practical subjects as well [ maths, physics] - so is there any job that has a blend in both of these fields. If you do happen to know any, I would be greatly appreciated with your comment.
Those questions really helped me see why I chose architecture and thank you for the advice...... This video really makes you think about architecture as a whole... Thank you 👍🏻😁
drawing, projects, like craftings and shit, working in a group, inspecting sites, having architect friends, trying to sell my own designs. 2. Not a good drawer painter etc, i enjoy problem solving 3. I guess i am a people person because to get big u need to know how to hit the right spots when talking to someone.
broseph I do 100% at most for anything, no amount of love for something can make me burn myself out by overextending come on now, you could do architectural passionate things on 100% perfectly fine
I almost done with my foundation in architecture but i do not know whether to pursue degree in architecture or quantity surveying ,thanks for the sharing in this video.
Have been an architectural designer for 7 years. Wish I had this video in high school. It only gets harder and with more responsibility as the years go on. Great advice from Kyle overall… especially that you should double down on something you’re interested in and you’ll find a way to make it (wish I had that advice back in high school). I chose architecture because I was into fine art but I was afraid of being a starving artist (why I convinced myself of this I don’t really know). I didn’t know much about architecture at the time but it seemed to mix being creative while also being a practical career. In retrospect I don’t think it a good enough reason not to go into art school. My advice is, go for it if you have a passion for architecture. Think twice if you don’t - you can always enter the field later on if you change your mind.
Thank you so much ! This video helped me a lot about what to choose as a carrer and you deserve much more views and attention man ! The people have to pay attention to these important self questions :)
Highschool student from Indonesia here 👋 I'm thinking of studying architecture but I'm not sure if I'll like it. I like the sound of it; problem solving, design, being creative, actually making stuff (instead of just learning the theories), going outside of my comfort zone (im an introvert), observing and learning how things work and why things are made the way they are. But I cant help but to feel uncertain. I dont have a strong desire to become an architect. Are all architecture students aiming to become an architect? Is it uncommon for a student to aim for something else? Thank you for the video! ²⁴⁰⁴²¹
Thanks for watching! What I usually yell those who are uncertain is that you’ll only ever know by trying it. I’ve found that the more of it you do, the more you find the passion to keep doing it. It’s a very personal question and all I can say is good luck! Follow your heart.
The truth is i never had any plans for architecture, but i had always wanted to study a course that is a mix of art and science. Architecture stuck out to me and i want to give it a try
the way u asked me do i have passion in building? i definitely answer no because arts is what i want only. please let me decide, im stuck between pursuing architecture or just to to fine arts.
thank you for your advice, sir. i'm having a hard time deciding on whether should i pursue architecture or not since i'm passionate about art but not in maths.
I wanted to ask that do you recommend going in to architecture even though I have no creative abilities but I do enjoy almost all other things architecture has to offer.
Yes, I think creative skills can and will be learnt over the course of your degree. If you have a passion for it, you'll find your capabilities will come as a result.
What if I’m depressed and can only find mild interest in things I find this more interesting than other things but I will never put 110% effort into anything
Try to seek help if you can, otherwise I've found reading "self help" books tremendously impactful. Once you do find what you love doing, which you will eventually, it will consume your time and take your mind off depression by giving you something else to do. It gets better Katie, good luck!
Hey, great video. I made a sugar cube castle as a kid and I was completely absorbed in it. More than any other project I have ever done in school. That is why I want to be an architect, I feel like I will be in my zone for the rest of my life, and I am so excited to meet other architects.
The idea of being Architect is intriguing, but doing the actual work gives me anxiety. I am somewhat good at drawing but I lack the creativity. I am ok in math but I hate doing it. I am afraid of doing some kind of big project where I need to calculate complex building support ratios. I guess I need to find something else.
Something I like about architecture is that not every day you work in the same place. You work in different sites and that feels much better than everyday in the same office
I am so interested in architecture i think i really want it, but I'm too scared to go for it because of what i heard about if from other architecture students :(
I've always been a straight A student and i always loved studying, but now in my junior year i got tired. I don't like the fact that i only know books, I want to be a bit more practical. I thought about studying law, but now I really want a more creative and flexible job. I love History of Art and painting. That's my favorite subject in school, but I could never study it because I do need a job that'll bring me some money... I always loved old buildings and decorating my room. I would spend hours building Barbie's houses or planing my future room. Should i study architecture?
I thought architecture was different. Don't get me wrong, the design process seems great but it takes too much time and I just won't work well with a team. I wish I could find a job that was like architecture but I really could do anything. Overall I don't think it's for me and that's okay, I have time.
I was rejected from art school a year ago and it did impacted me because that's what I was good at. Im currently In my 2 semester of college and I want to be an architect, I been obsessed looking at buildings, drawing sketches, and playing the sims lmao. Im working on my math skills, now that I been practicing Im getting good at it.
Hey man I have 2 questions for you. First do I have to be good at art for architecture? And secondly can you work for somebody else in a different country online??
Hi George. Like anything with architecture, you'll learn the skills you need along the way. However, having an artistic, or at least problem solving background, will be beneficial and give you a headstart. You won't be at a disadvantage if you aren't artistic, as you'll learn what you need along the way. I know a few architects who work remotely, though this usually comes after time building trust working in an office. You can work for someone across the globe but most companies would prefer a local for hiring in my opinion.
I really want to study architecture because I wanted to be an architect when I was a child, most of my dreams have been about exploring houses since I was a child (they all had very interesting architectures) and I loved (still do) walking in towns and cities just to admire different houses. However, I hear a lot that architecture requires the most work (and that students rarely sleep)… I’m not the type of person who is willing to work all night, I love sleeping too much 😅 Architecture still seems so interesting but the amount of work isn’t for me. I’m also very bad at presentations and communicating with people, and I struggle with being creative (I can’t make something new or interesting, though sometimes I am good at problem-solving). The good thing is that I’m good at both math and art. Should I still try one year in architecture school? Or are there any other options for what I’m interested in?
actually i am a new architecture student and i will start architecture lessons so i am very excited . Firstly good for you that you honest yourself and i think you can listen your heart's sound . Don't give up for your dreams . İf i dont forget i will write again after lessons . take care
I really wanted to be an architect since middle school, so i started studying it and also started doing art, when I was around 12, thinking it might help me. Now I'm in my last year of highschool and i still like doing art but studying architecture feels more like a chore. Also my parents aren't ok with me going to art school and want me to do architecture. I still love architecture but i love art more, want should I do?
Follow your heart, always! If you do something for someone else, you'll burn out. If you do something for money, you'll burn out. If you do something you love, you'll go far
I am really really bad at maths but I love art and designs and creating sculptures and something relating to that😭 should I take this course? I want some advice. I am senior highschool by the way (G-12) and soon to be college I am doubting right now...
Tomorrow I’ll start architecture. I like to draw ✍🏻, design pictures in computer . But I’m not good in math . What advice you would give me ? Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi James, that's exciting! My advice is to be like a sponge. Pretend you know nothing and try and soak up as much information as you can. Ask lots of questions, show up to every class (on time or earlier), be attentive and most of all have fun!
You don't have to be a people person, but you do have to have the ability to empathize... to be able to put yourself in someone else's shoes. This is probably more important than creative skills. If you can do that, you'll do fine.
Hi, I'm halfway through my senior year at high school, and I've been panicking lately because i haven't chosen what to study, but these days I've been looking and resourcing about architecture and it looks like something I'd thrive at and i really like it, but the problem is that I choose economic highschool and I don't have the basic knowledge about architecture, should I be worried? And what advice would you give me?
Hi Olgica, I wouldn't be worried if I were you! You'll learn everything you need along the way. In fact, after 5 years of architecture school you still might feel like you know nothing. But, you pick things up as you go, especially once you begin working. The great thing is that all architects are the same and expect graduates know very little about practice/documentation. Good luck :) You've got this
Hi. I'm already in my 2nd year as an architecture student. I don't enjoy most of what we are doing. I sometimes feel like I'm in a fine arts course. Like everything is mostly about aesthetic and expression. To which i struggle in most of the time. Im actually thinking of shifting to engineering. But i feel bad about the 2 years i already spent in arch. I just want to ask if you've ever experience that. Like you lose interest in the course? And is it normal that we dont delve into the science of building structures? The constraints of structural factors. Or is it something that is discussed in the higher years?
Hey Angelica. You're not alone in saying you lose interest over time. This tends to fluctuate a lot. From what I've experienced, you very much do spend the first 2 years focussing on the "design" and "art" side of architecture. 3rd year you have your first construction documentation studio where you look at the more technical aspects of buildings. 4th and 5th year has a big focus on the "realities" of architecture. Contracts, documentation, getting planning approval etc. Hope that helps :)
Not me watching this video partly because A) I’ve always considered architecture as a career because I love buildings and the designs of them and want to leave a mark / am currently trying to figure out my career path & reason B) I’m currently re-watching how I met your mother hahaha
Hi, I am in college studying business. But even after a few semesters it just feels like I am going through the motions. I've always loved school. I wanted to study arts (musical instrument) when I was in middle school and high school but got discouraged by the job offers and class opportunity where I live. I haven't like business, no matter the class, I always loved art and math (As well as some sciences). I also love plants and being outdoors. But I do feel like I am a slow worker and not very creative when it comes to being original. I like the idea of architecture and designing efficient sand astethic places, but I am afraid of switching mayors, losing my progress, the money invested and risking not liking it or failing in this major. I am afraid and don't know what to do. (My parents support me whatever decision I make, but they want me to make sure I am 100% sure)
Honestly i dont know if i want to be an architect, lawyer or therapist. Its a hard choice between those 3 , and i have years untill i need to decide but im trying to research about them
Hey, I have a dream of being an architect one day. I’m quite young now, but if I study in my free time and as I progress and get older I am willing to work pretty damn hard. I loved architecture the day I was born. Any major subjects I should research, and learn about? Books I should buy etc?
I’ve been drawing buildings and structures, building Legos, and noticed details of buildings everywhere I’ve been. That’s my reason along with wanting to help people with the emerging climate change threats where structures can help people in need. I’m in Law rn but think I might go for arch instead 😅
Thanks for the video. I’ve been thinking about pursuing architecture lately because I wanted to do something that incorporates both my math/physics and art talents. Do you think that is an accurate way to think about architecture? After watching your video I’m not too sure..
Hey Zara. You are correct. If I were to describe architecture I'd say it's a blend of math/physics and art. There's also a lot in between too. Good luck
So, could you be an architect? 🤔
This is awesome I had been thinking of doing architecture since 2007 kid design build Ings, everyone thought I was joking
One more have to be good with technology.

I’m in my first semester and I am getting sick of it😂
@@rsj8721 are you serious?
@@Theonlyway1445 unfortunately yes
@@rsj8721 then why did you choose architecture?
Yup same
The reason I’m wanting to study architecture is the idea on building things. And leave something in the world that’s built after I pass away. Creating history for myself and leaving a mark in this world.
That's a great reason behind your ambitions! All the best Ivan
I feel ya buddy 💯 %%%
I write for a similar reason.
I’m from Ukraine Kharkiv and my city is getting destroyed every day. I wanna study architecture and then come back home and help my dearest city
ay I wish all of y'all good luck 😅
ive been binge watching a bunch of architecture-career type videos like these today and this video really helped a lot. an older teacher of mine used to tell me that to him, working as a teacher wasn't a job because it's what he loved. i hope architecture can be like that for me in the future.
That's the dream! Keep going Cassandra
i always loved playing legos, making my own buildings, playing sims 4 building houses, games that require building always came natural to me, i am doing visual arts at school and i would say my spatial intelligence is very. good, but numbers and physics are just the death of me, thats the only thing thats holding me back honestly.
Woah just like me, math is my problem too
im the opposite lol. the only thing ive ever cared abt in games (minecraft, sims, terraria, etc) has been building. i care a lot abt aesthetics lol. i considered doing mechanical engineering for a long time, until i realized i really dont care mych for waves&optics in comparison to mechanics/dynamics. the only thing that worries me is that my spatial awareness is really bad.
me too and I used to make buildings with dominoes and stuff
Why am I choosing architecture for a career path? (friends, family, or self)
What do I think architecture would involve? (visualize what it will feel like in the future)
Are you creative? (creative mindset, think outside the box)
Are you a people person? (mostly team game; engineer, client)
Do you think you can sustain putting in 50 yrs into?
That's awesome! You are so welcome, all the best :.)
Only when you follow your passion you can find your purpose!

Im choosing architecture because i loved drawings but couldn’t find the one passionate about but when i discovered architecture i love the idea of what they do since them I’ve practice it and lets just say i really enjoy and love it
Best of luck!
Hey guys let me tell you my short story😁
About 3 years ago ,i lost my confidence for some reasons ang gave up on my dream job (i meant becoming a civil engineer or architect ) then started working at some local stores. But i always felt like" im wasting my precious time" and still have passion about designing and constructing houses or buildings. Then a couple weeks ago i realized that i had to follow my heart 😔.And i loved the idea of being an architect: imaging unique houses, etc. Sorry for grammer mistakes
You've got this Sanga! Keep following your heart
I wanted to be an architect. Then i took architecture classes. After the 3000th form vs function remark i walked away. I wanted to build and create not be brainwashed
Great video ☺️ !

It is extremely time consuming and I constantly feel kinda lost 😅

Thanks for the good work on your channel here…
Wow, thank you for the incredible comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, it's nice to hear your story. Cheers
A lot of the videos I found on yt were all quite discouraging saying stuff like “architecture school gave me insomnia.”
However, this ended on a good note and kind of encouraged me once again that I want to keep going with this.
I appreciate your support :)
I wish I had gotten some experience inside a practice before starting my education.
Hope that helps :)
hey!! if you’re still passionate about architecture, i recommend working in technical theater (specifically stage/build crew) at your highschool!
Perfect another video just telling me to do what I love dude I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t confused and depressed

My high school is a trade school, and architecture has been one of the things to select from! I did choose architecture after a bit of research and I think this solidified my answer in being an architect! We are doing projects this year, so I'm excited to see how that works out and see if I do like drafting and making my own projects! Thank you for the video

I wish you all the best for the future and hope to get an update again down the track :)

my reason for going to architecture is that i noticed as a kid, i loved building houses out of paper and i had a suprising talent for it.
I had to finish my degree in a pandemic and the truth was that it was quite difficult, but it was possible, so cheer up. greetings from Mexico
i fell out of love with architecture few years ago and fell in love with architecture again.
Have a blessed day 🙏
So glad to have helped. You make a great point that I'm sure a lot of others will want to have read too. Cheers!

I have a addiction on solving puzzles and when I see a building I plan it in my head to a better plan. That's what I decided to a architect.
Hey! Great video! I'm just curious, what was/is your answer to, "why do I want to study architecture?" Is it the same answer today as before you started studying it?
Hey DJ. Thank you so much for the kind words!
The answer definitely isn't the same as to when I first started. I was talking to an interior designer with 20 years experience the other week and she said something like "along the way, you try new things and discover new scopes to the profession that suit your character - things that you never realised you'd enjoy before."
Through the journey, you discover parts to the profession that tailor to your personality that you never realised existed before. Keep doing those things.
Originally, it was something that my brother talked me into. I had no idea what "architecture" actually was. That understanding grew over time and the more I learnt about what it is, the more that passion grew.
I hope that helps somewhat
@@kylesinko That makes sense, thank you! Keep up the great work :)

Hi I am Alexa and I'm 12 year old Filipina girl in 8th grade and I'm gonna share my answers here on the chat box while I'm watching the video
That's all ty for reading and taking your time 😁
That's awesome Alexa. You've got a great mind and you should follow your passion!

Hey Lunica. Thanks for the comment. I would go for gold. You only know for certain once you've tried it. Until then, you'll never know if it's the "right choice". Even if you spend a year at that university and find it's not to your liking, that's time well spent. All the best :)

Reasons to choose: explore your mind (at school and not in real life) rub it in peoples faces 😂😂😂
You talk about "giving your 110 percent near the end of the video" - but what if I complete an Architectural Degree but end up not getting the dream job I want - all that "hard-work", "time" and "effort" to study something you love - but end up getting rejected for your job, so in this manner looking up for job-security, gathering background facts about Architecture (in the future) is good, for example ["Is it a secure job", "How are the job-opportunities for Architecture", "Will I ever get a Job within 3 years after graduation"?]
These questions should most definitely be considered when studying a career.
This was really helpful, and I am really considering architecture as a career path for me.
I'm glad to hear! Thanks for watching Zoe

All the best!
What do you mean. Is there any complicated mathematics, I'm very worry
Thank you for this video. Great advice 👏🏽👍🏽
Glad I could help! Cheers

Highschool student from Indonesia here 👋
I'm thinking of studying architecture but I'm not sure if I'll like it.

I wanted to ask that do you recommend going in to architecture even though I have no creative abilities but I do enjoy almost all other things architecture has to offer.
Yes, I think creative skills can and will be learnt over the course of your degree. If you have a passion for it, you'll find your capabilities will come as a result.
@@kylesinko thx alot

You've got this Carly!
hello i am a architecture student. nice to meet youu
That’s why I enjoy it so much! I couldn’t be stuck in an office prison for 8 hours a day
I am so interested in architecture i think i really want it, but I'm too scared to go for it because of what i heard about if from other architecture students :(
You won't know if you're capable until you give it a go!
1:39 you got me there.
Thank you so much for tis video.
You're so welcome! Thanks
İf i dont forget i will write again after lessons . take care
Honestly I wanna be in architecture sessions so I can see what it's like by myself.. I fear what if I regret it.. or what if I actually like it
Most universities do "come and try" days I recommend checking out. Otherwise, getting experience in a firm for a day or two could be insightful
I really want to do Architecture because Virgil Abloh really inspires:influences me a lot and I wanna take his route with Sneakers and Fashion
Go for gold :D
I am really really bad at maths but I love art and designs and creating sculptures and something relating to that😭 should I take this course? I want some advice. I am senior highschool by the way (G-12) and soon to be college I am doubting right now...
Only one way to figure out if you'll like it... by trying it for yourself! Good luck
Good luck :) You've got this
Best to get into construction or property development earlier on, make more money then return to architecture as a retirement gig
I will definitely study architwcture now!! I love it and can not wait to get started. Thanks a lot for this video.
That’s awesome! You’ve got it 😁 thanks for watching
Thanks!
Not me watching this video partly because A) I’ve always considered architecture as a career because I love buildings and the designs of them and want to leave a mark / am currently trying to figure out my career path & reason B) I’m currently re-watching how I met your mother hahaha
thank you for helping me in choosing this career.
You're welcome!
I have renovated 2 properties and i just love cleaning the place out and then awakening the potential. Would this be a good fit for architecture?
“Are you a ‘people person’?“ from that quote alone I knew you’re an introvert 😂😂 it’s cute though
Yeahhh definitely an introvert 😂
Its a hard choice between those 3
, and i have years untill i need to decide but im trying to research about them
Keep doing that, you'll find one that sticks after you find out more about yourself and what you like to do. Good luck!
Hey, I have a dream of being an architect one day. I’m quite young now, but if I study in my free time and as I progress and get older I am willing to work pretty damn hard. I loved architecture the day I was born. Any major subjects I should research, and learn about? Books I should buy etc?
This helped thanks man
Glad to hear
I’ve been drawing buildings and structures, building Legos, and noticed details of buildings everywhere I’ve been. That’s my reason along with wanting to help people with the emerging climate change threats where structures can help people in need. I’m in Law rn but think I might go for arch instead 😅
What an inspiring video, I wish I had seen this before I starting the undergraduate program.
Good luck
