      In my opinion she does win out over Pat, although it's close, two different voices. Ann has just pure power, Pat was classically trained, although she definitely rocks out. To me Ann has more true raw emotion combined with a voice that brings goosebumps. I grew up on all Heart's albums, and consider Ann my vocal trainer... Singing along with all their songs.. LOUDLY

    • @grilledspaghetti

      And vocalist, many don't realise just from listening that These Dreams is her singing. Ann has a lot more dynamics, but they sound eerily similar.

    • @grilledspaghetti

      But I can play all of his lines easily or with a bit of effort. Silver wheels, close but no cigar after 30+ years of trying and here you are putting her behind him again, proving how underrated she is. :) At the time he was not underrated at all, he just went on to achieve nothing but obscurity later.

      @Smedley61 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grilledspaghetti Roger Fisher. He was actually thrown out of the band. He and Nancy were a thing and that relationship deteriorated. After having some technical difficulties during a show, he threw a guitar in her direction and stormed off stage. I recall seeing video of the show on the Net but it appears to have been scrubbed. In interviews in later years he was very apologetic and embarrassed about the incident.

    • @Smedley61
      @Smedley61 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From an article. "According to VH1 Classic's Behind the Music Remastered, Nancy broke up with Roger because she found herself falling in love with drummer Denny Carmassi. This made Roger furious because, even though he apparently cheated on Nancy, he still loved her.
      One night while in Portland, Ore., Fisher went crazy onstage and threw his guitar down. According to Ann, he also did the same thing backstage and nearly caused physical harm to Nancy. Needless to say, Fisher was fired from the band."

    They wrote most of their music. Apparently, they had a confrontation with a record executive and some heavy sexual harassment. Ann was rightfully angry and wrote Barracuda in like an hour. They were trailblazers in a mostly, but not all, male music industry. Pat Benatar and Stevie Nicks are must see female rockers from back in the day. I enjoy your reactions.

      @Dennis Newburry My understanding is that he put out the rumors because she wouldn't sleep with him. I wasn't there so I don't know the truth, but I have problems with how extreme the #me too movement has gotten, so that had nothing to do with my comment. I have 2 brothers, a dad, 2 sons, and several nephews. I don't think some of the me too crowd gives a hoot whose life they ruin. I also think that the sleazy guys who hurt and harass women need to be held accountable. We just need to take the time to hear both sides. Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.

      The story Phyllis brought up is exactly what has been told since the 70s. It was sexual harassment and it was by a man. Don't like it? Too bad. That's the way Ann Wilson has explained it for nearly forty years. People need to stop trying to make everything fit their preferred narrative. Go hate Me2 somewhere else. It's not relative here.

At the intermission I ran to the ground floor level to use the women's washroom and I ran right into Heart! I jumped up and down because I was so excited and I was telling Ann how great they were and she asked me if I wanted an autograph. She signed my program and I was informed they had to go. Then they left. It was so exciting. Anne was really hyped up herself. They gave four encore before we were told that they were interferring with Rod Stewart appearsnce. If you wanna explore what the ladies of rock have to offer-I recommend exploring The Cranberries, a female vocalist Dolores O’Riordan (an Irish angel) with a male band. She sings in her accent. Listen to their song ‘Linger’ she was only eighteen. Amazing video. Sadly Dolores died in 2017 at the age of 46, accidental death due to alcohol-only a year more than our dear Freddie.
    Also check out Hole. Courtney Love’s band.

    ann wilson became a singer to overcome stuttering. nancy started learning guitar when she had mono and had to miss school for months. these sisters used music frequently throughout their lives to overcome all kinds of issues. their parents exposed them to great music their entire lives. these women are truly inspirational.

    ❤️ being a Canadian band they had heavy air play for years on our air stations, helping to meet the Canadian content quota. Also, as they were so talented and us girls looked up to them. So few female rockers, ❤️ and they were special and original!

      Thinking they're Canadian is an honest mistake. They made it big here first and got tons of air play. I thought the same thing for a long time before hearing they're from Seattle.

      onepieceofgumleft and Bobbi H , how interesting, they fooled the radio stations, lol. I just read an interview with Nancy explaining that Ann had fallen in love with Mike Evans who was a draft evader living in Vancouver, he became there sound engineer/manager and they couldn’t cross back to the States with him so they toured heavily in Canada for a while and Nancy says they promoted themselves at that time as a Canadian band! I don’t know how to feel about that, they were always introduced as a Canadian band then. Learned something new today!

    Ann Wilson is the singer. Nancy is the guitar player. Heart sang "Stairway to Heaven" to honor Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Honors in 2019. Robert Plant cried when they took the stage, he recognized the man in the Boler hat. It was Jason Bonham son of their drummer, the late John Bonham. John is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time. And his son Jason is coming in a close second. Jason has been playing drums for Sammy Hagar and the Circle.

    Okay L, I first heard Heart when I was 10 years old and it was Magic Man (yes, I remember). From then on, listened to every song released on the radio. When I could later in years, bought ever albums released. They fell out of favor in 1980 and made a come back in 1985. We fans would find out later when documentaries started airing; Ann always struggled with her weight. MTV launched in 1980, Heart made great videos and music but record execs kept the cameras focused mainly on Nancy or just Ann’s face. Promotional appearances to promote their music stopped...all because of Ann’s weight-pisses me off!
    They fought on and it was the Fan’s demands that brought them back in 1985 and they are still going strong today.
    One of their most memorable moments was being chosen to sing a tribute to honor Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Centers Honors singing Stairway to Heaven. Your channel would blow-up if you could find this footage and react to it. To make it better, they are accompanied on drums by the son (Jason Bohnum) of Zeppelin’s drummer John Bohnum (RIP), known as the world best drummer ever.
    Great Idea! Do a dual reaction - Zeppelin’s version than Heart’s...your channel will BLOW-UP.

    Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann has such a soulful voice, and Nancy can play guitar with the best of them. I remember when they lived briefly in the small town I was living in at the time as a child. Nancy attended the University there, and both Ann and Nancy would play the local coffee houses. They were so hard working, and dedicated to the music. It's great to hear their earlier releases being played again, gaining new fans.

    That guitar moment you likes was Nancy Wilson who is the lead guitarist. They were both some of the pioneers for women in rock music, they broke so many barriers, and as they got older Ann Wilson, the lead singer, put on some weight, and she was told that she could only keep going in the industry if she was skinny and she basically told them to shove it and did super well despite not being “perfect” physically. They also wrote their own music like most rock bands do.

    They wrote all of their own music with the exception of a cover tune here and there. Ann and Nancy were approached by management about having their songs written by others and Ann would not have it. The only way this was going to be done was with their own compositions and she told them where to put that idea.

    The summer of '77 leading into my senior year in high school had a couple of their 8-track tapes that I wore out. Have loved them ever since.
    Finally got to see them live in October of 2016. These ladies can still rock it! Hope to see them on their upcoming tour.
    Ann Wilson, vocals and Nancy Wilson, 🎸 and vocals. I must say Ann is my favorite female singer of all time and Nancy my favorite female guitarist. Incredibly in their 60's they still perform as well as they did in their 20's.
