- In this video, Zoe gears up for winter as temperatures start to drop. Firewood has been selling like hotcakes so we need to start splitting more logs. She also cuts some lumber getting ready for our lumber kiln delivery next week. At the end, she starts a creative epoxy project.

Nice splitter. I used to do that back when I was younger. Had a lot of fun and did a lot of work cutting down trees. I cut 88 Rick's in 1981-82 season. Loaded out trucks going to a Texas wood yard. Have done all kinds of things since those days. Started out doing it all by axe and cross cut saw. Split a lot of wood with axe and mall. You get smart knowing the wood knowing it has a side that splits easy. Little things can help a lot.
Noticed you’re using a woodmizer. I am married to the granddaughter of Don Laskowski, inventor of woodmizer sawmills. So cool to see customers using these in the field

Trey and Zoe, you both do a great job doing something all the rest of us envy and admire. I would enjoy each of you briefly mentioning the safety precautions needed to prevent injuries and mishaps. PPE is boring to most, but if you're into this kind of career, long term, you both need to stay healthy. It also speaks to your professionalism. Finally, it's clear you have a booming firewood business, not to mention your specialty products and lumber, soon to be enhanced with your new kiln. Many want, and need firewood in your area, but most don't. Specialty lumber is always in demand. On the other hand, most back yard cooking people need, and love seasoned hardwood for smoke, and chunk charcoal. Hickory, pecan, oak etc. This could be a way to repurpose scraps. The best steak I can remember was seared over orange wood at a little steak house near Hard Rock. Just a thought on a way to expand even further into a market that will never end. Best wishes for continued success.

to say that no matter what the log looks like you can always get some wood out of it this was a crocked log full of branches { knot } but you still got lumber the only difference i do usually keep those to make knotty pine board because of the knots the lumber is not as strong and have more of tendency to warp {curve } more than regular lumber without so many knots have a great day

Nice I work at a saw mill I wouldn't mind doing that all day I cut larger logs from 12" to 14" I cut them into four pieces but I like that machine that's good for fire wood

I do a lot of slab projects for customers. Despite the increase in lumber prices I still get black walnut at $6.00 a board ft. Here in Michigan black walnut is abundant. Doesn't hurt to, "know a guy".

all that hard work deserves a great deal of appreciation. How much is a cord of split wood going for in Florida? Are you getting a lot of wood from hurricane damaged areas? Is your farm a depository for downed trees? Those slabs from other videos are beautiful and you're obviously supplying the wood market for household items. I know you're a family business but I imagine you have enough work for a dozen or more people. Best of luck. It doesn't hurt having an attractive worker.

Any Plans for a sawmill upgrade? One where you do not have to handle the logs by hand so much? Maybe a Woodmizer LT35, would be faster and easier for handling and cutting the logs and able for more output per day?

Curious, why did they put the splitter ram lever all the way on the back of the valve stack when it is the one most used? That would bug me.
Some people have no idea on how to work easy and some pieces of wood are way tooo big.
I was wondering the same thing, seems a little ass backwards maybe the intent was to stand on the other side? more shit in the way but then youre on the lift side at least instead of walking around loading, walking back to split, then back again to load. seems weird
