    I’m 41 now and I last tried to play a 3/4 dreadnaught back in grade school. It was uncomfortable and I lost interest. I’ve been thinking about taking lessons again, and I stumbled on this guitar at GC. It was easily the most comfortable acoustic I’ve played and amongst the other acoustics there. The neck feels comfortable. It sounds good (to me) in person too. I kind of want to pick it up!

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still have it and play it, it’s a great acoustic for little money, comfortable and sounds good too, wouldn’t blame you if you grabbed it!

    As a recovering flatpicker I can say that I have played most every commercially available acoustic plus quite a few custom instruments. Pre-Covid that is what I did instead of enjoying a normal social life. I judge everything against the Classic Martin dreadnought tone. That Ibanez sounds better than 90% of the Taylor’s I have played. I would go so far as to say that it has its own unique sound. It hits my ears as a blend of Martin and a vintage Guild. Of course the player is part of the equation and that was some pretty clean picking. I haven’t heard a better tone for under 1k.
    Cheers!

    I bought this guitar based on your review and I love it! I already owned an Ibanez AEG2011 acoustic electric and was looking for a simple basic acoustic and have always loved Martin, but I love the Ibanez guitar, the playability and it's so lightweight and it sounds really amazing, for the price you can't beat it! Amazing.. landed in same suprisong situation with an Ibanez AVC-11, didn’t expect much, ok heat treated top, bridge and bracings, but laminate back and sides.. Holy sh.. I was surprised after som new strings and a pair og decent tuners.. simply amazing guitar I Grand Concert size. Ibanez really master to “Tune” laminate backs to an incredible responsiveness.. what an sustain. And combined with the amazing easy V shaped neck, then it’s the go-to guitar even I got several higher priced solid guitars (Eastman E6D and Cort Gold Om6).. the EVC11 just have n magic sound, and response.. These Ibanez are build by Cort, and sure the designers knew what there was doing. As said..just changer the tuners to Grover V97 1:18, and we were flying :-)

    Just had this experience today. Played on this guitar in store and overall I felt it was solid and had that amazing warmth. It did not pop the low ends to deep considering it's size, and overall it was extremely pretty where I would almost put it in a Taylor/Martin combo sound. I must mention it stands on it's own and not even necessary to compare. I did feel it could have used just a touch more fullness in the dynamic range, however it handled in the pocket it was designed to be in ( which you just need to accept or don't lol )This construction just grooved in that warmth pocket and delivered while staying incredibly in tune. I was thinking of buying the 2021 Ibanez AEG70VVH but not sure about it. The specs are pretty close to the AC340 except the nut width is 43mm versus 45mm for the AC340. The other thing that I noticed was the nut is plastic on the AEG70; in your opinion, would it be better to go for a bone nut (like on the AC340)? Just not sure if it makes that much of a difference--it would be my first acoustic...also, it's about $100 more. Thanks for any help...

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t played the AEG70VVH but having a look at the specs it has the pickup system already fitted and the nut is slightly smaller as you say, if you are going to plug it in to amplify it then a pickups system is necessary, for your first acoustic it seems ideal, I wouldn’t worry about the bone nut for now, but if you can a chance to try them both out then that’s always the best option, but in my opinion you can’t go wrong with the playability of the Ibanez acoustics cheers!
