Both guitars are nice! Thanks for your videos about the AC340! I've been a long time thinking about buying one, and you are helping me a lot with my purchase. I love your content too!
I own 9 total Ibanez and I’m a total fanboy. Having said that, I got the Orangewood Morgan last week and I’m blown away at its sound and value for the $. It’s a steal.
I just ordered a Morgan Mohagany, but was also curious about the Ibanez AW54opn or a Yamaha fg800 as they are well recommended and a bit cheaper, any thoughts?
I have the Morgan live. Its tone is clear and balanced. Not boomy or shrill. Neck profile on it and my Orangewood Oliver are the best of all my guitars, including Eastmans and a Martin. I find that all that is required for an instrument to be great is even tone on all strings, neck profile that fits your hand and a setup to your liking. Doesn’t matter if its dreadnaught, parlor, a hundred years old or new. It will make great music as long as it speaks one good voice of any style, whether old time folk, lead or big dreadnaught and bluegrass.
i have a martin dx1e and a friend plays the orangewood morgan i tried it than went to guitar center... i had to check out the ibanez and well. even looked at the humming bird pro for 800$ played a few others. this ibanez is unique and in a great way cause i brought it home and cannot put it down. even love the strings it came with. money was not even in question either. pretty wild for 300$.
I'm personally obsessed with hogtops! I own a Sigma DMC-15E and a Takamine EF-349 that I've played for the last decade or so, fantastic sounds from all mahogany acoustics and would love to get more, I might just have to grab the dreadnought versions of both of these!
During the bluesy bits, Morgan a bit more twang which to me gave a bit more country vibe. Ibenez a bit darker so a bit of roots vibe. Both sounded quite good.
I went in thinking I would like the Morgan more but have to vote for the Ibanez. Richer tone for sure. The tone of the Morgan is higher and ‘tinnier’ though not in a harsh way. The Ibanez has more of a ‘Martin’ mojo going on which is how I tend to measure acoustic guitars. Cheers!
@@DerekPaulGuitar yeah. Ibanez has great guitars too. Ac340 is great also. And my aad140 is so good. Never been playing orangewood but they sound great and i love okoume tops. That deep and Warm sound ❤️
@@DerekPaulGuitar According to Ibanez wiki: 2018 had was solid mahogany top/ mahogany back and sides. After that they are solid Okume top/ okume back and sides. Both had thermo aged maple bridge plate. 2014-2017 had thermo aged rosewood bridge, after that thermo aged ovankol bridge.

Thanks for the comment! I still highly recommend the AC340 :)

You have some nice guitars there! I must admit I am a fan of mahogany acoustics too!! There’s a special sound to them, thanks for watching!
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks! I find that they have a nice sweet tone that really harmonizes well with singing! Subbing for sure, keep up the great work!
@@BrianMcCullarMusic thanks Brian, appreciate that, I find that they have a darker sound but not too dark, it’s a sound I prefer.

They certainly have a slightly different sound which will suit different players for sure, cheers Brad!
I thought ibanez sounded deeper and warmer. Mellower. The Orangewood sounded twangier. I'd take the Ibanez.
Thanks for the comment and for watching!
As always, I'm on the Ibanez team 😁
Thanks as always for the comment George :)
Both sounded good but somehow i liked orangewood more🤔
Hey man! hope you're well, it is a great guitar, and cheers!

@@PPKSuhonen great stuff!! The look of a dark wood guitar doesn’t hurt either :)
The Morgan REALLY sounds quite a bit better in this video. More resonant with less of a boxy, thuddy sound to the bass frequencies.
Thanks for the comment! And thanks for watching, appreciate that
Name of the first song?
It’s ‘nobody knows you when you’re down and out’
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks!
I think only the bridge on the Ibanez is thermally aged
I think the top is also torrified as far as I’m aware
@@DerekPaulGuitar their website specifies only the bridge of that model as torified.
Ah gotcha, mine is from 2018 so maybe they changed it

Thanks for the info, appreciate the research into it!
