  • The Godfather of Indian Jazz Louiz Banks, Prince of Percussion Taufiq Qureshi, Sitar Maestro Purbayan Chatterjee and Bass prodigy Mohini Dey perform to ‘Jimi Comes to India’, the second track composed by Louiz Banks on#LifeIsMusic. The song is an ode to Rock legend, Jimi Hendrix. Purbayan Chatterjee’s Sitar riff also reminds Louiz Banks of the legendary rockstar’s performance, only this time, it’s on a Sitar. So, plug in your earphones and get transported with the music.

I don't really hear the influence of the late Jimi Hendricks, but the sound is awesome. Sir Qureshi and Lady Dey make an incredible duet.

This is great stuff. It's a travesty that this clip got so few views. What's most impressive here imho is the sitar used in a rock music setting for improvisation - one of the best I've seen.True crossover music. Ony thing here I don't hear is Jimi's influence directly, but there's a definite rock/blues feel in parts! Indians can rock!!

Listen to Niladri Kumar also, if you're not familiar. He plays a mean electric sitar, a "Zitar" as he calls it.
So cool how eastern and western music 🎶 are mixing and merging. It's a great, creative time to be alive, if you are a music lover, as I am.
"Life Is Music 🎶 Music Is Life" indeed!

seen this before and wondered how it is possible to make so bad camera-managing. Example: when Mohini plays the main role short solos the camera stays at the drummer, and very often only the drummer in focus...

This music is great - I love a bunch of superb musicians playing together and jamming their asses off!
But those damn tags LifeIsMusic puts all over the video are unbelievably irritating!
And guys...? Listening to Mohini here tells me you other three better hit the woodshed, and practice....a lot. Cuz she's lightyears out ahead of you all...

Only discovered Life is Music yesterday and am blown away by the fusion of East music & Western instruments, especially Mohini Dey's bass style. 🤯
Never hear a bass being played with such speed, fluidity, and natural talent. Dang, she's amazingly too cool!🙏🙏🙏
I'm in love, totally hooked, and subbed. 😎

if only Jimi had this band instead of the journeymen he had during his peak. it was Jimi's tragedy that he didn't have a Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker

That drummer must use a new set of rods for every performance. They just DON'T last very long when being played that hard.
