    Love one another (other Christians?), love your neighbour, your enemy.
    These can all be the same person. Sometimes it is.

    It really amazes me how many who call themselves Christians believe that no one can keep the sermon on the mount. But the New Birth gives us God's power to obey Him. That's what salvation brings.😊

    Jesus was calling us to "be the better man." (Better person.) No, really. It does not mean we don't respect emotional, physical, financial boundaries. It doesn't mean we just go back to an abusive relationship like before. To do this requires a lot of courage but more importantly it means we need to become maybe ten times stronger emotionally, socially, with our ability to communicate than before so when someone abuses us we are strong enough to withstand that. It means we need to do a lot of extra work on ourselves, on our own understanding of our needs, our own resilience. Then we can help our enemy come out of the mud hole that is hate.

      I know this will sound weird and wrong but please bear with me for a few seconds.
      When people are enemies, it's like they are peers, equals. Like two wrestlers matched up for the fight.
      What Jesus called us to do is be so much better than the other person. They are no longer our peers, we are so much more skilled, competent, powerful than them. (I told you this would sound weird.) They say when people negotiate "against" someone with much weaker negotiating skills, they tend to give them a break instead of just taking as much as they can from the deal they are working on. They said Hitler would take as much as possible with no regard for mercy for the other side. I played chess against someone who was so good he took his queen off the board before we started. And he still won. That's how competent we are called to be. But not use it against them as hard as Hitler. Wise as serpents, harmless as doves.
      And that part about love. There are ways to measure how much love we are expected to show to others. What are they? One way would be following Jesus' example. He gave everything at the cross. For us mere mortals... how much is the right amount? How much is "too much"? It seems if the vision for what we want is small enough, we won't need to depend on God. We won't need to try to feel the moving of the Holy Spirit. We won't need to pray very often. If that's where we're at... maybe we need to love a little bit more today. A bit more tomorrow and the next day.

    When we get right down to nuts and bolts, our true enemy is not the people as they may be under demonic influence. Our true enemy is satan and his minions...so this is difficult beyond measure and is somewhat confusing...we are given authority over these and I have witnessed this however I am not loving when I rebuke them....and I think loving them could be extremely dangerous.....is this too deep an approach....should these words be taken at surface value and simply for our human encounters, be they demonically inspired or not? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    • @rev3182

      @@DavidGuzikEnduringWord I was really trying to figure out how to truly love our enemies and I think the Lord led me to some understanding. It came through the dream of another believer in which demonic entities were ripping the wicked apart. A believer tried to rebuke it in Jesus's name and all the creature did was smile an evil smile and continue on. It was noted that the creature did not attack the believer. When this creature grinned and continued on, I was reminded of their legal right given by God to do evil during these times. I thought to myself if rebuking doesn't work due to this legality then perhaps a new thought that could trigger a new awareness and possibility may be the answer. Perhaps stating their fact, that yes they have a legal right but that doesn't mean they have to use it, will create a new possibility? What if this is an unbeknownst test to them? I know it's extreme but when I think on certain scriptures, it seems like it may be a possibility. To love an enemy is no easy task and our human understanding has fluffy thoughts on love yet perhaps loving our enemies means way more than we think.
      I remember once too reading about the fallen angels and how they were wanting so much to be forgiven. Their request was selfish, they wanted back into Heaven but failed to understand the harm they caused or how to begin making amends. In my mind, the first step is repentance, just like us, then doing everything in our power to refrain from negative behavior and undo the wrongs done.
      These creatures have no intellect for the evil has made them insane. Perhaps our understanding of truth may also be their light. I have finally defeated the negativity I have had surrounding these beings and am now attempting to use intelligence combined with His truth as a new weapon. I'm very aware of the battle and have had some extremely intense experiences which actually caused physical harm to me that the Lord healed instantly before my amazed eyes. I know you are a strong man of God, I welcome any insights you may have regarding this. :) Thanks for responding Brother. Hallelujah!

    This concept is all well and good but why not speak on what someone should do when your enemies give you pushback?

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord
      @DavidGuzikEnduringWord  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It certainly starts with our desire to obey God in loving our enemies. That command from God is specific and clear. When our enemies "push back", then we need wisdom on how to respond. Our responses may differ, based upon the uniqueness of each situation, but the first and most important thing is our attitude and desire to love our enemies. If we have the right attitude then God will give us the wisdom about how to respond when that love is not received, or when they "push back". I hope this helps!

      @@DavidGuzikEnduringWord I'm challenged and broken, not related to forgiving enemies but rather situations that have only gotten worse through prayer. Work Supervisor has done all she can to isolate me, set traps, create a negative environment for me all because I would not participate in ill-behavior towards staff members she wants to get rid of. The department is toxic where no one speaks out to keep their job. When I discussed things with her, spoke on forgiveness, teamwork, and would bring up the Lord, she laughed at me during periods of distress and said " Where is your God now?"
